Appointing an Acting Member of the Main Highways Board

B. C. FREYBERG, Governor-General

WHEREAS it is considered expedient to appoint, in terms of subsection (5) of section 5 of the Main Highways Act, 1922, an acting member of the Main Highways Board to act in the event of the absence of any member from any meeting of the Board:

Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Main Highways Act, 1922, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, do hereby appoint as from the date hereof

Frederick William Lindup, Esquire, of Wellington, Inspecting Engineer of the Ministry of Works, to be an acting member of the Main Highways Board in terms of subsection (5) of section 5 of the Main Highways Act, 1922.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 11th day of November, 1950.

Trustees for Ellesmere Cemetery Appointed

PURSUANT to section 55 of the Cemeteries Act, 1908, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

The Ellesmere County Council

to be trustees of the Cemetery within the meaning of the said Act, known as the Ellesmere Cemetery, being the land described in the Schedule hereto, and to have the control and management thereof.


SCHEDULE

ALL those areas situated in Block I, Southbridge Survey District, containing by admeasurement 25 acres, more or less, being Reserve 1434, and 42 acres 1 rood, more or less, being balance of Reserve 1435. As the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked H. 191/2/377, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Health, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 7th day of November, 1950.

Trustees for Ruby Bay Cemetery Appointed

PURSUANT to section 55 of the Cemeteries Act, 1908, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

The Waimea County Council

to be trustees of the cemetery within the meaning of the said Act, known as the Ruby Bay Cemetery, being the land described in the Schedule hereto, and to have the control and management thereof.


SCHEDULE

ALL that area in the Nelson Land District containing by admeasurement 3 acres 0 roods and 20 perches, more or less, being parts of Sections 9 and 18, District of Moutere Hills, situated in Block II, Moutere Survey District, being all the land shown on Deposited Plan No. 1081 and contained in Certificate of Title, Volume 47, folio 103 (Nelson Registry).

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 8th day of November, 1950.

Regular Force—

Brigadier R. C. Queree, C.B.E., D.S.O., relinquishes the appointments of Quartermaster-General, Army Headquarters, and Third Military Member of the Army Board on proceeding to the United Kingdom to attend a course at the Imperial Defence College. Dated 7th November, 1950.

THE ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY

Regular Force—

Derek McElvogue to be temp. 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.). Dated 17th October, 1950.

Territorial Force—

Lieutenant W. S. Taylor, 3rd Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A., is transferred to the Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington’s Own). Dated 9th March, 1950.

THE ROYAL N.Z. ARMOURED CORPS

Territorial Force—

Lieutenant J. W. Howorth, 3rd Armoured Regiment, R.N.Z.A.C., to be Captain. Dated 1st October, 1950.

THE ROYAL N.Z. ENGINEERS

Regular Force—

Lieutenant-Colonel J. Brooke-White, O.B.E., relinquishes the appointment of Deputy Quartermaster-General, Army Headquarters, dated 7th November, 1950, and is appointed Officiating Quartermaster-General, Army Headquarters, and Third Military Member of the Army Board, vice Brigadier R. C. Queree, C.B.E., D.S.O., dated 8th November, 1950.

Territorial Force—

Captain J. S. Berry, 2nd Field Squadron, R.N.Z.E., to be Major. Dated 12th October, 1950.

THE ROYAL N.Z. INFANTRY CORPS

Territorial Force—

The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own)—

Lieutenant (temp. Major) J. S. Matthews, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Infantry Corps, with the rank of Major, with seniority from 1st January, 1942. Dated 7th October, 1950.

Temp. Captain W. E. von Schramm, E.D., 1st Battalion, is posted to the Retired List with the rank of Captain. Dated 6th October, 1950.

Temp. Captain H. L. Aickin, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Infantry Corps, with the rank of Captain, with seniority from 30th April, 1943. Dated 9th October, 1950.

Temp. Captain R. Curry, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Infantry Corps, with the rank of Captain, with seniority from 6th May, 1945. Dated 10th October, 1950.

Temp. Lieutenant N. W. Sarney, 1st Battalion, is posted to the Retired List with the rank of Lieutenant. Dated 9th October, 1950.

Temp. Lieutenant R. S. McMillan, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Infantry Corps, with the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 27th January, 1942. Dated 5th October, 1950.

Temp. Lieutenant E. R. Newman, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Infantry Corps, with the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 10th September, 1943. Dated 6th October, 1950.

Temp. 2nd Lieutenant W. N. Snedden, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Infantry Corps, with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority from 24th August, 1942. Dated 6th October, 1950.

Temp. 2nd Lieutenant O. R. Morgan, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Infantry Corps, with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority from 17th September, 1942. Dated 4th October, 1950.

The Hauraki Regiment—

Noel Owen Vickridge to be 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) and is seconded to the Opotiki District High School Cadets. Dated 1st October, 1950.

The Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington’s Own)—

Lieutenant W. S. Taylor, from the 3rd Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A., to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 15th June, 1947, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 9th March, 1950.

The Wellington West Coast and Taranaki Regiment—

Temp. 2nd Lieutenant R. S. Gore, from the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority from 17th March, 1946, and is seconded to the Palmerston North Boys’ High School Cadets. Dated 2nd October, 1950.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) W. H. Mason, seconded to the Hawera Technical High School Cadets, lapses. Dated 25th October, 1950.

The Canterbury Regiment—

2nd Lieutenant P. J. Scott to be Lieutenant and remains seconded to the Xavier College Cadets. Dated 12th January, 1948.

THE ROYAL N.Z. ARMY SERVICE CORPS

Regular Force—

Edward Parsons is granted a short-service commission for a period of two years as from the 2nd November, 1950, in the rank of Captain and Quartermaster, and is appointed Staff Officer (Catering), Army Headquarters, Wellington. Dated 2nd November, 1950.

Territorial Force—

Captain R. Manson, from the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, The Royal N.Z. Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, to be Captain, with seniority from 14th July, 1948, and is posted to the 5th Company, R.N.Z.A.S.C. Dated 5th July, 1950.
