Public Service Salary Scales




MINIMUM SALARY FOR A MARRIED MAN

The amount in excess of scale salary to bring remuneration up to the amount mentioned is graded by way of
allowance. The allowance is reduced by the amount of annual increment until the salary reaches the minimum for a
married male employee, at which point the allowance ceases.

The following minimum rate of pay has been approved:-
£361 per annum.

The above minimum commencing salaries apply to male and female graduates who are appointed to positions for
which the degrees are suitable qualifications.

SCALE FOR DRAUGHTING STAFF

Officers qualified for Clerical Division :—
(1) Appointees to be recruited in the Clerical Division—
Males ... Same as clerical scale ; maximum, £460 per annum.
Females ... Same as clerical scale ; initial maximum, £380 per annum, and then
at any point £405, £435, or £460 per annum.

Designations to be changed to draughtsman or draughtswoman on reaching a salary of £255
per annum. Prior to this salary, designation to be draughting cadet.

(2) If an appointee seems of doubtful potential value, he or she may be recruited in the General Division as a
draughting assistant even though qualified for the Clerical Division. The same will apply if an appointee
is recruited for low-calibre draughting work—e.g., tracings or title diagrams.

Officers not qualified for Clerical Division—
Appointees to be recruited in the General Division—
Males ... Same as clerical assistant scale ; initial maximum, £405 per annum.
Females ... Same as clerical assistant scale ; initial maximum, £330 per annum.

Designation in each case to be draughting assistant.
If justified on the work performed, they may progress to the following maxima :—
Males ... £435, £460; maximum at any point.
Females ... £355, £380, £405, £435, or £460, per annum ; maximum at any point.

Designation to be draughtsman or draughtswoman.

(a) Shorthand-typists who pass the Advanced Examination will be paid an allowance at the rate of £15 per annum
provided their scale salary does not exceed £355 per annum, and provided they are employed on shorthand-typing duties
of a standard consistent with their examination qualifications.
