And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty’s Forces or in any British ship :
Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 27 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of discharged servicemen, and hereby specifies the 17th day of July, 1950, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT
ALL that parcel of land situated in Blocks II, III, VI, and VII, Spaxton Survey District, containing two thousand and ninety-seven (2,097) acres two (2) roods twenty-two (22) perches, more or less, being Lots 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9, and Part of Lot 1, Deposited Plan 6230, being Rural Sections 30343, 30344, and 30345, and Part of Rural Sections 17231 and 30342, and being the balance of the land comprised in certificate of title, Volume 379, folio 13 (Canterbury Registry).
As witness my hand, this 11th day of July, 1950.

The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice Declaring Land Taken for the Settlement of a Discharged Serviceman

WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of the Land Valuation Court to a transaction which relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto and to which Part III of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, applies :
And whereas the Land Valuation Committee to which the application has been referred is of opinion that the land to which the application relates is farm land suitable for the settlement of a discharged serviceman :
And whereas the said Committee, not being satisfied that the Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of the land, did on the 1st day of June, 1950, make an order determining the basic value of the land and no appeal from the said order was made within the time prescribed by the said Act or within any further time allowed by the Court :
And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty’s Forces or in any British ship :
Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 51 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of a discharged serviceman, and hereby specifies the 2nd day of August, 1950, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.

ALL that area containing by admeasurement three (3) acres two (2) roods twenty-five (25) perches, more or less, being Lot 22 on a plan deposited in the Land Registry Office at Christchurch under No. 449, part Rural Section 3753, situated in Block I, Patiti Survey District, and being all the land comprised in certificate of title, Volume 141, folio 34 (Canterbury Registry).
All that area containing by admeasurement eleven (11) acres one (1) rood thirty-two (32) perches, more or less, being Lots 1, 2, and 23, on a plan deposited in the Land Registry Office at Christchurch under No. 449, part Rural Section 3753, situated in Block I, Patiti Survey District, and being all the land comprised in certificate of title, Volume 448, folio 230 (Canterbury Registry).
As witness my hand, this 11th day of July, 1950.

Hauraki Plains Drainage Area.—Notice of Making and Levying Rates
———
I, ERNEST BOWYER CORBETT, Minister of Lands, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Hauraki Plains Act, 1926, do hereby make and levy, on the unimproved value of all lands within the district constituted under the said Act, the general rates to meet maintenance costs for the period from 1st April, 1950, to 31st March, 1951, as described in the Schedule hereto. The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on the 19th July, 1950.
The rate-book of the district is open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Room 15, First Floor, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at the Land Drainage Office of the Ministry of Works at Kerepeehi, at all times at which those offices are open for the transaction of public business.

SCHEDULE
CLASS A.—On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A by the appraiser appointed under the said Act, seven pence and fifty-seven one-hundredths (7·57d.) in the pound.
CLASS B.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class B, four pence and thirty-three one-hundredths of a penny (4·33d.) in the pound.
CLASS C.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class C, one penny and eight one-hundredths of a penny (1·08d.) in the pound.

Declaring Parts of a Tribal District to be Tribal Committee Areas Under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945

PURSUANT to section 14 of the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945, I, Ernest Bowyer Corbett, Minister of Maori Affairs, do hereby declare the parts of the tribal district described in the Schedule hereto to be tribal committee areas for the purposes of the said Act, and do hereby assign to each of the several areas the name appearing at the head of the description of each such area.

TE AU-O-WAIKATO TRIBAL DISTRICT
Te Hoe Tribal Committee Area
ALL that area bounded by a line commencing at the confluence of the Mangawara Stream with the Komakorau Stream in Block IV, Newcastle Survey District; thence proceeding north-easterly along a right line to Trig. Station 1230 (Pukewhau) in Block V, Hapuakohe Survey District, a right line to Trig. Station 2043 (Ratamaroke) in Block XV, Piako Survey District, and a right line to Trig. Station 2042 (Ratawera), in Block XV, Piako Survey District, being a point on the boundary of the Hauraki Plains County as described in New Zealand Gazette of 1936 at page 842; thence southerly and easterly generally along that county boundary to the southernmost corner of Section 5, Block IV, Hapuakohe Survey District; thence south-westerly along a right line to the northernmost corner of Section 474A 1, Taupiri Parish; thence southerly along the eastern boundaries of Sections 474A 1, 474A 2D, 474A 2C, 474A 2B, and 474A 2A to the easternmost corner of Section 478A, Taupiri Parish; thence westerly along the generally northern boundaries of Sections 478A and 478, Taupiri Parish, to the northernmost corner of Section 476, Taupiri Parish; thence southerly along the eastern boundary of the said Section 476 and its production to the middle of the Mangawara Stream; thence south-westerly generally down the middle of that stream to the point of commencement.
Hoe-o-Tainui Tribal Committee Area
All that area bounded by a line commencing at the southernmost corner of Section 5, Block IV, Hapuakohe Survey District, being a point on the boundary of the Piako County as described in New Zealand Gazette of 1945 at page 257, thence proceeding easterly and south-easterly generally along that county boundary to a point in line with the northern boundary of Lot 4 on the plan numbered 2170, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland; thence south-westerly along a right line to the northernmost corner of Lot 3 on the plan numbered 23465, deposited as aforesaid, along the southern side of Whakahoro Road to the north-western corner of Lot 1 on the plan numbered 11844, deposited as aforesaid, and along a right line to Trig. Station 1993 (Hangawera) at the north-eastern corner of Section 1B 4, Hoe-o-Tainui South Block in Block XIII, Waitoa Survey District; thence westerly along the northern boundaries of the said section 1B 4 and Section 1A 2, Hoe-o-Tainui South Block, to the north-western corner of the last-mentioned section; thence northerly along a right line to the easternmost corner of Section 478A, Taupiri Parish, being a point on the boundary of the Te Hoe Tribal Committee Area, hereinbefore described; thence northerly and north-easterly along the boundary of that area to the southernmost corner of Section 5, Block IV, Hapuakohe Survey District, the point of commencement.
Ngati-Werewere Tribal Committee Area
All that area bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station 1993 (Hangawera), being a point on the boundary of the Hoe-o-Tainui Tribal Committee Area, hereinbefore described; thence proceeding north-easterly along the boundary of that area to the middle of the Waihou River; thence south-easterly generally up the middle of that river to and along the generally western and southern boundaries of the Borough of Te Aroha as described in New Zealand Gazette of 1917 at page 1868, to the middle of the Waihou River and again up the middle of that river to its intersection with the southern boundary of Block XII, Aroha Survey District; thence south-westerly along a right line to Trig. Station 754 in Block VIII, Maungakawa Survey District, and a right line to a point in the middle of the Piakonui Stream in line with the south-western boundary of Lot 4, as shown on the plan numbered 14276, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland, being a point on the boundary of the Matamata County as described in New Zealand Gazette of 1950 at page 277; thence south-westerly generally along that county boundary to Trig. Station Y (Opuahau) in Block X, Cambridge Survey District; thence south-westerly along a right line in the direction of Trig.
