MAY 18] THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE Vesting the Control of a Scenic Reserve in the Matamata Borough Council B. C. FREYBERG, Governor-General IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the scenic reserve described in the Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act) in the Matamata Borough Council, subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say :— 1. The period for which the control of the reserve is hereby vested shall be five years from the date hereof, unless the reservation is previously altered or revoked under the said Act. 2. The said Council shall prepare a report each year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the said reserve. Such report and statement shall be sent to the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act as soon as possible after the close of the year. 3. The said Council shall control the said reserve in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder. SCHEDULE SOUTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—GORDON PARK (MATAMATA) SCENIC RESERVE ALL that area in the Matamata County containing by admeasurement 4,490 acres 3 roods 23 perches, more or less, situated in Blocks XI, XV, and XVI, Wairere Survey District, and Blocks IV and IVA, Tapapa Survey District, being part of Okauria No. l Block, and being all the land contained in certificate of title, Volume 695, folio 57, Auckland Registry; bounded towards the north generally by Maurihoro A Block (Scenic Reserve, Gazette, 1936, page 2188); towards the east generally by Lot I on D.P. 5156, Lots 3, 5, 7, 10, and 15 on D.P. 5099, part of Whakamarama No. 2 Block, Lot 22 on aforesaid D.P. 5099, Mangatotara No. 1A Block, Section 3, Block II, and Section 1, Block IV, Opoutihi Survey District (State Forest, Gazette, 1938, page 1087); towards the south generally by the northern boundary of the land on D.P. 7148 to a point on that boundary distant 200 links east of the easternmost corner of Okauria No. 4B Block; thence by the eastern, southern, and again eastern boundaries of a strip of land 100 links wide adjoining the northern boundary of the land on D.P. 7148 and the northern and western boundaries of Lot 12 on D.P. 6606, which said strip of land is part of the land on D.P. 7148 and part of Lot 12 on D.P. 6606 to and by a public road; towards the west generally by Lot 13 on D.P. 6606, Okauria No. 4B and No. 4E 3 Blocks, Section 4, Block IV, Tapapa Survey District, Section 9 and part of Section 2, Block XV, Wai- rere Survey District (State Forest, Gazette, 1898, page 1658), and part of Section 2, Block XV, aforesaid (Scenic Reserve, Gazette, 1938, page 815). As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 22/2731A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. FREYBERG, Governor-General WHEREAS by section 167 of the Land Act, 1948, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time set apart as a reserve, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral lease or pastoral-occupation licence, any Crown land for any purpose which, in his opinion, is desirable in the public interest, and notice thereof shall be published in the Gazette : Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do hereby reserve the land in the Wellington Land District, described in the Schedule hereunder written, for a public hall site. SCHEDULE WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT ALL that area situated in Block II, Otahoua Survey District, con- taining by admeasurement 3 roods 37.9 perches, more or less, being part Section 14IN, Kai-o-te-atua Block, and being the balance of the land comprised and described in certificate of title, Volume 34, folio 134, Wellington Registry. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 6/6/895, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey at Wellington, and thereon edged red. Proclaiming a Tribal District Under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945 [L.S.] B. C. FREYBERG, Governor-General A PROCLAMATION PURSUANT to section six of the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the parts of New Zealand described in the Schedule hereto to be a tribal district for the purposes of the said Act, and do hereby assign to the said district the name “ Southern Ngatiruanui Tribal District.” SCHEDULE SOUTHERN NGATIRUANUI TRIBAL DISTRICT ALL that area comprising the Borough of Patea and portions of Hawera and Patea Counties, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the mouth of the Manawapou River ; thence north-easterly by the south-east boundary of the Northern Ngatiruanui Tribal District, as previously described, to the middle of the Whenuakura River; thence generally southerly by the middle of that river to the sea-coast; thence north-westerly by the sea-coast to the mouth of the Manawapou River, the point of commencement. FREYBERG, Governor-General ORDER IN COUNCIL At the Government House at Wellington, this 10th day of May, 1950 Present: HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL PURSUANT to section 7 of the Maori Purposes Act, 1948, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby confer upon the Ngati-Koata Tribal Committee all of the powers conferred upon a Tribal Executive by the Maori Social and Economic Advance- ment Act, 1945, including the power to make by-laws, notwith- standing the provisions of section 19 or section 20 of that Act. FREYBERG, Governor-General ORDER IN COUNCIL At the Government House at Wellington, this 17th day of May, 1950 Present: HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL PURSUANT to section five of the Maori Purposes Act, 1937, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby set apart and reserve the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule hereto as a Maori reservation for the common use of the Ngati Hikairo and Waikato tribes as a marae and meeting-house site. SCHEDULE ALL that area in the South Auckland Land District situate in Block VI, Kawhia North Survey District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres 1 perch, more or less, being part of the Maori Land Court subdivision known as Kawhia O 24. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked M.L. 16610, deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor at Auckland, and thereon edged red. T. J.
