Declaring Parts of a Tribal District to be Tribal Committee Areas Under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945

Pursuant to section 14 of the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945, I, Ernest Bowyer Corbett, Minister of Maori Affairs, do hereby declare the parts of the tribal district described in the Schedule hereto to be tribal committee areas for the purposes of the said Act, and do hereby assign to each of the several areas the name appearing at the head of the description of each such areas.

SCHEDULE

SOUTHERN NGATIRUANUI TRIBAL DISTRICT

Ngatitakou (Manutahi) Tribal Committee Area

All that area bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the mouth of the Manawapou River; thence north-easterly by a right line to Trig. Station A (Tarere); thence south-westerly by a right line to Trig. Station XL (Kakaramea) in Block II, Carlyle Survey District; thence by a right line to Trig. Station XXXIX and that line continued to the sea-coast; thence north-westerly by the sea-coast to the Manawapou River, the point of commencement.

Pariroa Tribal Committee Area

All that area bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station XL (Kakaramea); thence north-easterly by a right line to Trig. Station A (Tarere); thence north-easterly by the south-eastern boundary of the Northern Ngatiruanui Tribal District as previously described to its intersection with the north-eastern boundary of Section 9, Block VI, Opaku Survey District; thence south-easterly by that boundary to its intersection with the northern boundary of Section 8; thence south-westerly by a right line to Trig. Station XXXI in Block VII, Carlyle Survey District; thence north-westerly by a right line to Trig. Station XL, the point of commencement.

Papawhero (Patea) Tribal Committee Area

All that area bounded by a line commencing on the sea-coast at the southern corner of the Ngatitakou Tribal Committee area as previously described; thence north-easterly by the south-eastern boundary of the said Tribal Committee area to the south-western corner of the Pariroa Tribal Committee area; thence south-easterly by the south-western boundary of the said Tribal Committee area to Trig. Station XXXI; thence south-easterly by a right line to a point in the middle of the mouth of the Patea River; thence north-westerly by the sea-coast to the point of commencement.

Waioturi Tribal Committee Area

All that area bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the mouth of the Patea River; thence north-westerly by the eastern boundary of the Papawhero and Pariroa Tribal Committee Areas as previously described to its intersection with the south-eastern boundary of the Northern Ngatiruanui Tribal District as previously described; thence north-easterly by that boundary to its intersection with the south-western boundary of Kaharoa No. 3 Block; thence south-westerly by a right line to Trig. Station XXVI in Block IV, Carlyle Survey District; thence by a right line to Trig. Station XXIX on the south boundary of Carlyle Survey District and by that line continued to the sea-coast; thence north-westerly by the sea-coast to the Patea River, the point of commencement.

Whenuakura Tribal Committee Area

All that area bounded by a line commencing on the sea-coast at the south-eastern corner of the Waioturi Tribal Committee area as previously described; thence north-easterly by the south-eastern boundary of the said Tribal Committee area to its intersection with the northern boundary of the Southern Ngatiruanui Tribal District; thence north-easterly, south-westerly generally, and north-westerly by the northern, eastern, and southern boundary of the said Tribal District to the point of commencement.

Trustees for Parkhurst Cemetery Appointed

Pursuant to section 55 of the Cemeteries Act, 1908, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

The Waitemata County Council

to be the trustees of the Cemetery within the meaning of the said Act, known as the Parkhurst Cemetery, being the land described in the Schedule hereto, and to have the control and management thereof.

SCHEDULE

All that area in the North Auckland Land District, Waitemata County, being Section 2A, Block XIII, Kaipara Survey District: Area, 6 acres l rood 17 perches, more or less.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General this 8th day of May, 1950.

70084 Flight Lieutenant Ernest James Dyer is granted an extension of his commission, in his present rank and seniority, for a period of six months. Dated 1st April, 1950.

NEW ZEALAND DEFENCE SCIENTIFIC CORPS

Appointments

Brian McKenzie Bary, M.Sc., is granted a short-service commission for a period of five years in the rank of Lieutenant (Sp.) R.N.Z.N., with seniority as from 11th April, 1945. Dated 11th April, 1950.

John Alexander Dixie, M.Sc., on relinquishing his commission in the Reserve of Air Force Officers, is granted a short-service commission for a period of five years in the rank of Lieutenant (Army), with seniority as from 14th April, 1948. Dated 14th April, 1950.

John Flett Scalfe, M.Sc., is granted a short-service commission for a period of five years in the rank of Lieutenant (Army). Dated 3rd April, 1950.

Amendments

With reference to the notice appearing in the New Zealand Gazette No. 26, dated 28th April, 1949, page 966, relating to Charles Selwyn Grace, for “Sub-Lieutenant”, substitute “Sub-Lieutenant (Sp.) R.N.Z.N”.
