  1. The members of the Board shall at their first meeting, and thereafter at the annual meeting hereinafter mentioned, elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion and shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his successor.

  2. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman, provided that two days’ notice of any such meeting is given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting; and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.

  3. Any three members of the Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  4. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose one of their number to be Chairman of such meeting.

  5. If by resignation, death, incapacity, or otherwise the seat of any member shall be or become vacant, or if any member absents himself without reasonable cause from three consecutive meetings of the Board, the Governor-General shall have power to appoint any other person to be a member of the Board in his stead.

  6. All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at the meeting.

  7. The Board shall have prepared and submitted at an annual meeting to be held in the month of April in each year a report of the proceedings of the Board for the previous year ending on the 31st day of March, together with a statement of the receipts and expenditure of the Board for such year. A copy of every such report and statement, certified by the Chairman to be correct, shall be sent to the Minister of Lands as soon as possible after each annual meeting.

  8. The Board shall control the said reserve and the building erected thereon for the purposes of a public hall, and shall also afford settlers and residents of Whangarei and the surrounding district such facilities for meeting within the said hall as may from time to time be determined by the Board; provided that the Board shall have power to fix reasonable charges for the use of the said hall.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT

ALL that area situated in Block II, Otahoua Survey District, containing by admeasurement 3 roods 37·9 perches, more or less, being part Section 141N, Kai-o-te-atua Block, and being the balance of the land comprised and described in certificate of title, Volume 34, folio 134, Wellington Registry. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 6/6/895, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by section 301 of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that the persons whose names are set out in the Schedule hereto, being officers in the service of the Crown holding the offices stated opposite their names respectively in the said Schedule, are authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under section 301 of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927.

Increasing Number of Days on Which Charges May be Made for Admission to the Taumarunui and Rangaroa Domain

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section twenty-three of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby increase the number of days which may be prescribed by the Taumarunui and Rangaroa Domain Board as days upon which charges may be made, pursuant to section twenty-one of the said Act, for admission to the domain described in the Schedule hereto, or to any part thereof set apart for a particular purpose, from twenty days to thirty days during the year ending the thirty-first day of March, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-one.

SOUTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—TAUMARUNUI AND RANGAROA DOMAIN

ALL those areas in the Taumarunui Borough and the Taumarunui County, situated in Block I, Piopiotea Survey District, and Block XIII, Tuhua Survey District, containing by admeasurement a total of 179 acres 3 roods 33·6 perches, more or less, being Sections 3, 16, and 58, Block XIII, Tuhua Survey District; Section 1, Block X, Taumarunui Maori Township; Section 11 and part Section 9, Block V, Village of Rangaroa; and Section 12, Block VI, Village of Rangaroa.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 12th day of May, 1950.

WHEREAS by the one-hundred and sixty-seventh section of the Land Act, 1948, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time set apart as a reserve, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral lease or pastoral occupation licence, any Crown land for any purpose, which, in his opinion is desirable in the public interest, and notice thereof shall be published in the Gazette :

Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do hereby reserve the lands in the North Auckland, Nelson, Marlborough, Otago, and Southland Land Districts described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so intended to be reserved.
