of the Mangarara Stream, up the middle of that stream to and along

District, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the
middle of a public road; then north-easterly and north-westerly
generally along the middle of that road to a point in line with the
south-eastern boundary of Lot 1, of Small Grazing Run 43A; then
north-easterly and north-westerly along that boundary and the
north-eastern boundary of that run and its production to the middle
of a public road; then northerly generally up the middle of that
road to the middle of the Waiapu Inland road; then westerly
generally along the middle of that road to a point in line with the
north-eastern boundary of Lot 3 on the plan numbered 1696 deposited
as aforesaid; then north-easterly to and along that boundary
and the north-eastern boundary of Lot 11 on the aforesaid plan
and the production of that boundary to the middle of the Wai-
ngaromia River; then north-easterly generally up that river to
a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Waipaoa No. 3B
Block; then north-westerly to and along that boundary to the
generally eastern boundary of Waipaoa No. 2 Block; then north-
easterly, north-westerly, and northerly along the generally eastern
boundaries of that block to the southern corner of Section 1, Block
IX, Tutamoi Survey District; then north-easterly along the
south-eastern boundaries of that section, Section 2, Block IX,
aforesaid, Section 2, Block V, of that survey district, and Section 1,
Block VI, of that survey district; then north-westerly along the
north-eastern boundaries of the last-mentioned section, Section 1,
Block V, Small Grazing Run 98, and Huiarua No. 1 Block;
then northerly along the western boundary of Huiarua No. 3
Block to its intersection with a line from Trig. Station Kapua
to Trig. Station Arowhana; then north-easterly along that line
to Trig. Station Kapua aforesaid; then south-easterly along a
right line to the confluence of the Waitahaia and Mata Rivers in
Block XII, Hikurangi Survey District, a right line to Trig. Station
186 in Block XIV, Mata Survey District, a right line to Trig. Station
184 (Tawhiti) in Block XIII, Waihiro Survey District, and a right
line to the mouth of the Waiwhakaata Stream, the point of
commencement, and including all adjacent islands.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General
of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal
of that Dominion, this 24th day of March, 1950.

Proclaiming a Tribal District Under the Maori Social and Economic
Advancement Act, 1945

A PROCLAMATION
PURSUANT to section six of the Maori Social and Economic
Advancement Act, 1945, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard
Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand, do hereby declare the parts of New Zealand described in
the Schedule hereto to be a tribal district for the purposes of the
said Act, and do hereby assign to the said district the name “Central
Taranaki Tribal District.”
SCHEDULE
THE CENTRAL TARANAKI TRIBAL DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Taranaki Land District bounded by a line
commencing at a point on the sea-coast in the middle of the mouth
of the Oaonui River, Block V, Opunake Survey District; then
proceeding north-easterly generally up the middle of that river to
the boundary of the Egmont National Park; then south-easterly
generally along the said boundary of the Egmont National Park
to the middle of the Oeo River, Block VI, Kaupokonui Survey
District; then south-westerly generally down the middle of that
river to the sea-coast; then north-westerly along the sea-coast
to the middle of the mouth of the Oaonui River, the point of
commencement.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General
of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal
of that Dominion, this 24th day of March, 1950.

Varying a Proclamation Proclaiming a Tribal District Under the
Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945

A PROCLAMATION
PURSUANT to section six of the Maori Social and Economic
Advancement Act, 1945, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard
Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand, do hereby vary the Proclamation made on the tenth
day of July, one thousand nine hundred and forty-seven, and
published in the Gazette on the seventeenth day of July, one
thousand nine hundred and forty-seven, at page 872, declaring
certain parts of New Zealand to be a tribal district for the purposes
of the said Act, by excluding from the Schedule thereto the description
of the Takitimu Tribal District and substituting therefor the
description appearing in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE
TAKITIMU TRIBAL DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Gisborne Land District, being part Waiapu
County, Waikohu County, Uawa County, and part Cook County,
bounded by a line commencing at Paritu, being a point on the
sea-coast in Block XIII, Paritu Survey District; then north-
westerly along a right line in the direction of the junction of the
Hangaroa and Ruakituri Rivers to the middle of the Mangarangiora
Stream; then northerly up the middle of that stream to the
northernmost corner of Mangapoike No. 2D Block, in Block IV,
Opoti Survey District, and a right line to the north-western corner
of Whakaongaonga 2G 2 Block; then north-westerly, northerly,
and north-easterly generally along the generally eastern side of the
road forming the south-western boundaries of Sections 46, 45, 44,
51, again 44, and 48 all of Block XVI, Hangaroa Survey District,
the western boundaries of Section 3, Block XIII, of that survey
district, Section 1, part 5, 6, 10, 8, part 3, part 2, the southern
boundary of part Section 21, all of Block VIII, Hangaroa Survey
District, and the south-eastern boundary of part Hangaroa Matawai
No. 2C; then south-westerly along the north-western side of the
road forming the north-western boundary of Hangaroa Village,
and the production of that side to the middle of the Hangaroa
River; then down the middle of that river to a point in line with
the generally northern side of the Gisborne-Waikaremoana Road;
then south-westerly along a right line to the northern side of that
road; then westerly generally along the northern side of that
road to the middle of the Kawaimango Stream in Block I, Hangaroa
Survey District; then south-westerly up the middle of that
stream to the eastern boundary of Lot 21 of Tahora 2R, Section 2
Block; then northerly along that boundary and the eastern
boundary of Lot 24 of Tahora 2C 1, Section 3 Block; then westerly
generally along the northern boundary of that block, the northern
boundary of Lot 23 of Tahora 2C 1, Section 3 Block; then north-
westerly and southerly along the north-eastern and western
boundaries of Lot 18 of Tahora 2R, Section 2 Block, and the
production of the last-mentioned boundary to its intersection with
a right line between Trig. Stations Puketapu and Maungapohatu;
then north-westerly along that right line to Trig. Station Maunga-
pohatu; then north-easterly along a right line in the direction
of Maungatapere Trig. Station to its intersection with the western
boundary of Tahora Block; then northerly along that boundary
to a point in line with the northern boundary of Small Grazing
Run 89; then to and along that boundary, the northern
boundaries of Small Grazing Run 90, Sections 2 and 3, Block XII,
Moanui Survey District, Sections 4, 1, and 2, Block IX, Motu
Survey District, and Section 2, Block V, Motu Survey District,
to Pokaikiri Trig. Station; then along a right line to Trig.
Station 149A; then along a right line to the northernmost corner
of Motu No. 1 Block, Block II, Motu Survey District; then
north-westerly and north-easterly generally along the south-western
and north-western boundaries of Whakapaupakihi No. 2 and
Sections 23 and 1 of 24, Block II, aforesaid to a point on the southern
boundary of Section 3, Block III, Urutawa East Survey District;
then westerly generally along the southern boundary of that
section to the right bank of the Pakihi Stream; then down the
said bank of that stream to a point in line with the northern boundary
of Section 4, Block III, aforesaid; then along a right line across
a road reserve to the northernmost corner of Section 4, Block III,
aforesaid; then easterly generally along the northern boundary
of Sections 4, 6, and 5, Block III, aforesaid to a public road; then
northerly along the western side of that public road and the western
boundary of Section 3, Block I, Urutawa East Survey District;
then easterly along the northern boundary of that section and its
production across a public road; then northerly along the eastern
side of that road to the north-western corner of Section 2, Block II,
Urutawa East Survey District; then north-easterly along the
north-western boundary of Section 2 aforesaid to and across a
public road to the south-western corner of Section 5, Block VIII,
Urutawa Survey District; then easterly generally along a public
road and the north-eastern boundary of Section 3, Block VIII,
aforesaid to a point on the western boundary of Section 1, Block V,
Otipi Survey District; then northerly along that boundary to
the north-western corner of Section 1 aforesaid; then north-
easterly generally along the north-western boundary of Section 1,
Block V, aforesaid and Section 2, Block VI, Otipi Survey District,
to and across a road reserve and the Motu River to its right bank;
then down the right bank of the Motu River to its intersection
with the northern boundary of Lot 8 on the plan numbered 2480,
deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Gisborne,
then south-easterly generally along the north-eastern boundaries
of Lot 8 aforesaid, Lots 7 and 6 on the plan numbered 2479 deposited
as aforesaid, Lot 3 on the plan numbered 2395 deposited as
aforesaid, and Lot 2 on the plan numbered 2394 deposited as afore-
said to the intersection of the last-mentioned boundary with the
