Special Order Made by the Taumarunui County Council Altering Riding Boundaries and Adjusting Representation
Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 21st March, 1950.
The following Special Order made by the Taumarunui County Council is published in accordance with the provisions of the Counties Act, 1920, in so far as publication is required by that Act. Pursuant to section 100 of the aforesaid Act, as amended by section 3 of the Counties Amendment Act, 1921-22, I hereby fix the 1st day of April, 1950, as the date from which the redivision of the county into six ridings as set out in the said Special Order shall take effect.

SPECIAL ORDER
In exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the Counties Act, 1920, the Taumarunui County Council hereby resolves by way of Special Order as follows:
"(1) The present division of the County of Taumarunui into five ridings is revoked, and in lieu thereof the said Taumarunui County shall be divided into six ridings, to be called Waimiha, Taringamotu, Pungapunga, Otunui, Kirikau, and Tuhua Ridings, which said ridings are respectively described in the schedule hereto.
"(2) The said Taumarunui County Council shall consist of eight members who shall be elected as follows-
"(a) The electors of the Taringamotu and Otunui Ridings shall each elect two councillors;
"(b) The electors of Waimiha, Pungapunga, Kirikau, and Tuhua Ridings shall each elect one councillor."
SCHEDULE
WAIMIHA RIDING
All that area in the South Auckland Land District, bounded by a line, commencing at a point in the middle of the Ongarue River on the Taumarunui County boundary in line with the eastern boundary of Section 4, Block X, Hurakia Survey District, and running southerly generally along a right line to and along the eastern boundaries of Section 4 aforesaid and Section 5 of the said Block X, to and along the northern and eastern boundaries of Ketemaringi Number 2 Block, along the eastern boundary of Hurakia B No. 2 Block to its south-eastern corner; thence westerly generally along the southern and western boundaries of Hurakia B No. 2 Block aforesaid, to and along the south-western boundaries of Sections 2 and 1, Block XIV, Hurakia Survey District, along the south-eastern boundary of Section 4 to the north-eastern corner of Section 14, Block XIII, Hurakia Survey District; thence southerly generally along the eastern boundaries of Section 14 aforesaid and Section 5 of the said Block XIII, along the abutment of a public road to and along the eastern boundaries of Sections 2 and 7, to the south-eastern corner of the last-mentioned section, both the aforesaid sections being of Block I, Puketapu Survey District; thence westerly generally along the southern boundaries of Section 7 aforesaid, Sections 6, 4, and 3, of Block I, aforesaid, along the southern boundaries of Sections 8, 11, and 10, of Block IV, Tuhua Survey District, along the south-western and western boundaries of Section 9 of the said Block IV and along a right line being the last-mentioned boundary produced across a public road to its north-eastern side; thence along the north-eastern side of the said road to a point in line with the eastern end of the south-western boundary of Section 3, Block IV aforesaid; thence along a right line across aforesaid public road to and along the south-western boundary of the aforesaid Section 3, along the south-western boundaries of Lots 6 and 3 as shown on the plan numbered 14777, deposited in the Auckland Land Registry Office, being part of Rangitoto-Tuhua No. 80B No. 1c Section 2 Block, along the abutment of a public road to and along the southern boundary of Rangitoto-Tuhua No. 76B Section 5 Block, along the southern boundary generally of Rangitoto-Tuhua No. 76B 8B Section 2B Block, and along a right line being the last-mentioned boundary produced to the middle of the Ongarue River being the western boundary of the aforesaid Taumarunui County; thence northerly and easterly generally along the aforesaid county boundary as described in New Zealand Gazette, No. 20, of the 20th day of March, 1930, page 784, to the point of commencement.
TARINGAMOTU RIDING
All that area in the South Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Ongarue River on the Taumarunui County boundary in line with the eastern boundary of Section 4, Block X, Hurakia Survey District, and running easterly and southerly generally along the boundary of the said Taumarunui County as described in New Zealand Gazette, No. 20, of the 20th day of March, 1930, page 784, to the middle of the Oruapuroto Stream; thence westerly generally up the middle of the said stream to and along the north-western boundaries of Hauhungaroa Nos. 2, 5, and 4 Blocks, again along the north-western boundary of Hauhungaroa No. 2 Block, and the north-western and western boundaries of Hauhungaroa No. 9, along the western boundaries of Hauhungaroa Nos. 10 and 11 Blocks, along the northern boundary of Hauhungaroa No. 1c Block, to and along the north-eastern and north-western boundaries of Waituhi Nuratau No. 2A Block, and along a right line being the last-mentioned boundary produced to the middle of the Pungapunga Stream; thence down the middle of the Pungapunga Stream aforesaid to a point in line with the easternmost part of the north-eastern boundary of Puketapu Part No. 3c Section 5 Block; thence along a right line to and along the generally north-eastern and northern boundaries of the southern part of the said Block to Peg XX on the eastern boundary of Puketapu No. 3c Section 6 Block; thence along a right line across the said Puketapu No. 3c Section 6 Block
