LEVIN BOROUGH COUNCIL

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Levin Borough Council hereby resolves as follows :—

“That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of eight thousand five hundred pounds (£8,500), authorized to be raised by the Levin Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of purchasing earthenware pipes for use in connection with the provision of a sewerage scheme for the Borough of Levin, as required by a requisition issued under section twenty-two of the Health Act, 1920, the said Levin Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one hundred and thirty-seven four-hundredths of a penny (1³⁷/₁₀₀d.) in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property of the Borough of Levin, comprising the whole of the Borough of Levin; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-five (35) years or until the loan is fully paid off.”

GENERAL EXTENSION AND RETICULATION LOAN 1949, £67,000

EXTRACT from minutes of a special meeting of the board held in the Boards Offices, Union Street, Milton, on the 19th day of July, 1949, at 3.30 p.m.

“That, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by the Local Bodies’ Loan Act, 1926, and the Electric-power Boards Act, 1925, and any amendments thereto and for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of sixty-seven thousand pounds (£67,000) to be known as General Extension and Reticulation Loan, 1949 and the costs of raising the said loan authorized to be raised by the Otago Electric-power Board under the above-mentioned Acts for the purpose of the further reticulation of the inner area of the Otago Electric-power Districts as hereinafter defined the Otago Electric-power Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of fifteen sixty-fourths of a penny (¹⁵/₆₄d.) in the pound on the capital rateable value of all rateable property within the inner area of the Otago Electric-power District (which includes portions of the Counties of Bruce, Clutha, Tuapeka, Waikouaiti, Waihemo, Taieri, and Maniototo together with the Boroughs of Naseby, Palmerston, Waikouaiti, Lawrence, Kaitangata, and Balclutha), and it is hereby further resolved that such special rate shall be an annually-recurring rate during the currency of the said General Extension and Reticulation Loan, 1949 or until the said loan has been fully repaid, and that the said special rate be and the same is hereby appropriated and pledged as security for the repayment of the said loan and for the payment of interest thereon and other charges under the securities to be issued in respect of the said loan.”

“That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of sixteen thousand five hundred pounds (£16,500), authorized to be raised by the Levin Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of purchasing and erecting a 50,000 cubic feet single-lift spiral-guided gas holder, purchasing and installing a station meter at the gasworks, and extending and improving the gasworks reticulation, the said Levin Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of two hundred and eighty-nine four-hundredths of a penny (2⁸⁹/₁₀₀d.) in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property of the Borough of Levin, comprising the whole of the Borough of Levin; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty (30) years, or until the loan is fully paid off.”
