Altering and Redefining the Boundaries of the Taieri Ridge Rabbit District.—(Notice No. Ag. 4787)

At the Government House at Wellington, this 26th day of October, 1949
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
WHEREAS by section thirty-one of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1928, it is enacted that the Governor-General, at the request of the Board of any rabbit district, may, by Order in Council, alter and redefine the boundaries of its district:
And whereas the district known as the Taieri Ridge Rabbit District has been constituted under and for the purposes of the said Act:
And whereas the Board of the said district has, pursuant to the said section thirty-one of the said Act, requested that the boundaries of its district be altered and redefined by including an additional area therein:
And whereas the consent of a majority of the persons in such additional area qualified to be enrolled on the ratepayers’ list for the said district has been given to the inclusion of such additional area in the said district:
And whereas it is deemed expedient to alter and redefine the boundaries of the said district accordingly:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the said Act, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby—
(1) Alter and redefine the boundaries of the said district so constituted as aforesaid;
(2) Declare that the boundaries of the said district shall be those set forth in the Schedule hereto; and, further,
(3) Declare that this Order in Council shall come into force on the day following publication hereof in the Gazette.

SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF THE TAIERI RIDGE RABBIT DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Otago Land District and the counties of Waihemo and Taieri, containing 60,700 acres, more or less, and being parts of Rock and Pillar, Highlay, Budle, and Strath Taieri Survey Districts; bounded as follows: Commencing at the north-western corner of Section 16, Block III, Rock and Pillar Survey District; thence generally easterly along the northern boundaries of Sections 16, Block III, and 3, Block IV, Rock and Pillar Survey District, and Section 2, Block IV, Highlay Survey District, to Matheson Road; thence south-easterly and south-westerly along Matheson Road on the north-eastern boundary of Section 1 and the south-eastern boundary of Section 2, Block V, Highlay Survey District, and through Section 10, Block XII, Rock and Pillar Survey District, to the easternmost corner of Section 12, Block XII, Rock and Pillar Survey District; thence south-westerly along a road on the south-eastern boundaries of Section 12 aforesaid, Sections 23, 24, and 25, Block I, Budle Survey District, and Section 2, Block III, Strath Taieri Survey District, and south-westerly along the road through Section 1, Block III, Strath Taieri Survey District, to the north-eastern corner of Section 2, Block VI, Strath Taieri Survey District; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of the said Block VI, and westerly along its southern boundary to the north-eastern corner of Section 15, Block X, thence southerly along the eastern boundary of the said Section 15 to Sheepwash Stream; thence north-easterly up Sheepwash Stream to Sheepwash Stream Road; thence south-easterly along that road and south-westerly along the Middlemarch–Dunback Main Highway on the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 1 and 6, Block XI, and south-easterly along Bald Hill Road to the easternmost corner of Section 3, Block XIII; thence generally south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of the said Section 3; thence generally north-westerly along the southern, south-western, and western boundaries of Sections 9 and 3, Block XII, Strath Taieri Survey District; thence easterly along the northern boundary of the said Section 3 and northerly along the western boundary of Section 13, Block X, to the Middlemarch–Dunback Main Highway; thence westerly along that highway and the southern boundary of Section 12, Block X, Strath Taieri Survey District, and its production to the left bank of the Taieri River; thence generally northerly along the left bank of the Taieri River to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 16, Block III, Rock and Pillar Survey District; thence north-easterly to the point of commencement.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1928, and to section twenty-nine of the Rabbit Nuisance Amendment Act, 1947, His Excellency the Governor-General, at the request of the Minister of Agriculture, made on the recommendation of the Rabbit Destruction Council, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby constitute and declare the area of land, the boundaries of which are described in the Schedule hereto, being an area to which subsection one of section thirty of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1928, applies, a rabbit district, and doth appoint that the name of the said rabbit district shall be the Wairaki Rabbit District, and doth order that the basis on which the Rabbit Board to be established for the said district shall first levy its general rate shall be the acreage of land occupied by the ratepayer.

DESCRIPTION OF BOUNDARIES OF THE WAIRAKI RABBIT DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Southland Land District containing by estimation 135,500 acres, more or less, inclusive of roads, railways, and streams, and bounded as follows: Commencing at the most western corner of Block XIX, Centre Hill Survey District, at the junction of the said block boundary and the left bank of the Aparima River; thence easterly and southerly generally along the left bank of the said river to a point in line with the left bank of the Etal Stream; thence due west across the Aparima River to the left bank of the Etal Stream; thence in a westerly direction generally along the left bank of the Etal Stream to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 71, Block XVII, Wairaki Survey District; thence in a south-westerly direction generally across the Etal Stream, to and along the western boundary of the aforesaid Section 71, across a public road, along the western boundaries of Section 72, Block XXIII, Wairaki Survey District, Section 11, Beaumont Settlement, a public road forming the western boundary of Section 10, Beaumont Settlement, Block XXIII aforesaid, across a public road, and along the western boundary of Section 9, Beaumont Settlement, Block XXIX, Wairaki Survey District, and along the western and southern boundaries of Section 53, Block XXIX, aforesaid to a public road; thence southerly along the western side of the said public road to the northern boundary of the Wairio Survey District; thence westerly generally along the northern boundary of the Wairio Survey District to a point in line with the western boundary of Block III, Wairio Survey District; thence southerly generally across the Morley Stream and a road reserve, to and along the western boundaries of Blocks III and VI, Wairio Survey District, to the south-west corner of Section 87, Block VI aforesaid; thence south-easterly generally along the south-western boundaries of Sections 87, 171, and 170, Block VI aforesaid to a public road; thence due south across the said public road to the northern boundary of Section 36, Block IX, Wairio Survey District; thence westerly along the said northern boundary and south-westerly along the north-western boundaries of the said Section 36 and Sections 86, 35, and 29, Block IX aforesaid to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Section 176, Block XIII, Wairio Survey District; thence westerly generally across the said public road, to and along the generally northern boundaries of Sections 176, the abuttal of a public road, Section 6, the abuttal of a public road, Sections 4 and 101, all in Block XIII aforesaid, and along the generally northern boundaries of Sections 100 and 99, the abuttal of a public road, Sections 18 and 96, the abuttal of a public road, again Section 96 and Sections 177 and 204, all in Block XII, Wairio Survey District, to the eastern boundary of the Waiau Survey District; thence north-westerly generally along the eastern and northern boundaries of the Waiau Survey District to the Wairaki River; thence due west across the said river to the right bank thereof; thence in a north-easterly direction generally along the said right bank to the eastern boundary of Block XXXII, Takitimo Survey District; thence northerly and north-easterly along the eastern boundaries of the said Block XXXII and Blocks XXVIII and XXII, Takitimo Survey District and the last-mentioned boundary produced across the Aparima River to the point of commencement.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
WHEREAS the Manukau County Council is the responsible authority within the meaning of the Town-planning Act, 1926, of a certain rural area as defined in the said Act—namely, the Manukau County:
And whereas His Excellency the Governor-General is of opinion that the preparation and submission of an extra-urban planning scheme for a certain defined portion of the said rural area—namely, the area described in the Schedule hereto—is necessary as settlement is taking place at such a rate that the preparation of such an extra-urban planning scheme is deemed advisable in the public interest and for the proper consideration of town-planning schemes which boroughs adjacent to the County boundaries are required to prepare under the Town-planning Act, 1926 :
