His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to
approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers,
resignations, retirements, and relinquishments of commissions of
officers of the New Zealand Military Forces :—
N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF
Temp. Major A. Ross, M.C., is transferred to the Reserve of
Officers, Regimental List, The Otago and Southland Regiment,
with the rank of Major, with seniority from 23rd March, 1946.
Dated 14th July, 1949.
THE ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY
Territorial Force—
Temp. Captain J. I. Moir, late 7th Medium Battery, R.N.Z.A.,
is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, 4th
Medium Regiment, R.N.Z.A., with the rank of Captain, with
seniority from 22nd April, 1944. Dated 1st May, 1949.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) D. E. D. Malins, late 7th Medium
Battery, R.N.Z.A. (disbanded), is transferred to the Reserve of
Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, with the rank of
Captain, with seniority from 26th July, 1942. Dated lst May, 1949.
Temp. Captain T. R. Impey, late 18th Anti-Tank Battery,
R.N.Z.A. (disbanded), is transferred to the Reserve of Officers,
General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, with the rank of Captain,
with seniority from 15th December, 1942. Dated 1st May, 1949.
Temp. Captain J. E. Hammond, late 7th Medium Battery,
R.N.Z.A. (disbanded), resigns his commission. Dated 21st July, 1949.
Temp. 2nd Lieutenant N. P. Coleman, from the Reserve of
Officers, Supplementary List, to be 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority
from 1st July, 1946, and is posted to the 13th Composite Anti-
Aircraft Regiment, R.N.Z.A. Dated 1st December, 1948.
THE ROYAL N.Z. ARMOURED CORPS
Regular Force—
Major H. A. Purcell, D.S.O., to be Temp. Lieutenant-Colonel.
Dated 22nd July, 1949.
Territorial Force—
Temp. Major R. D. Cox, E.D., 1st Armoured Regiment,
R.N.Z.A.C. (Waikato), is transferred to the Reserve of Officers,
General List, The Royal N.Z. Armoured Corps, with the rank of
Major, with seniority from 9th May, 1942. Dated 1st May, 1949.
Captain (temp. Major) W. J. Collins, M.M., E.D., 1st Armoured
Regiment, R.N.Z.A.C. (Waikato), is posted to the Retired List with
the rank of Major. Dated 30th June, 1949.
Temp. Captain C. E. Rayner, 1st Armoured Regiment,
R.N.Z.A.C. (Waikato), is transferred to the Reserve of Officers,
General List, The Royal N.Z. Armoured Corps, with the rank of
Captain, with seniority from 3rd June, 1942. Dated 4th August,
1949.
Temp. Captain R. P. Bundle, 1st Armoured Regiment,
R.N.Z.A.C. (Waikato), is transferred to the Reserve of Officers,
Regimental List, The North Auckland Regiment, with the rank of
Captain, with seniority from 10th July, 1943. Dated 1st May, 1949.
Temp. Captain R. E. Johnston, 1st Armoured Regiment,
R.N.Z.A.C. (Waikato), is transferred to the Reserve of Officers,
General List, The Royal N.Z. Armoured Corps, with the rank of
Captain, with seniority from 21st April, 1945. Dated 1st May, 1949.
Temp. Captain G. Gilchrist, 1st Armoured Regiment, R.N.Z.A.C.
(Waikato), is posted to the Retired List with the rank of Captain.
Dated 26th July, 1949.
Temp. Captain T. E. Foley, 1st Armoured Regiment, R.N.Z.A.C.
(Waikato), is posted to the Retired List with the rank of Captain.
Dated 1st August, 1949.
Temp. Lieutenant T. M. Rouse, 1st Armoured Regiment,
R.N.Z.A.C. (Waikato), is transferred to the Reserve of Officers,
General List, The Royal N.Z. Armoured Corps, with the rank of
Lieutenant, with seniority from 6th January, 1947. Dated 1st
May, 1949.
Temp. Lieutenant L. K. Macky, 1st Armoured Regiment,
R.N.Z.A.C. (Waikato), resigns his commission. Dated 3rd July, 1949.
Temp. Lieutenant R. E. Moore, 1st Armoured Regiment,
R.N.Z.A.C. (Waikato), is posted to the Retired List with the rank
of Lieutenant. Dated 15th July, 1949.
Temp. Lieutenant G. R. Clune, 1st Armoured Regiment,
R.N.Z.A.C. (Waikato), resigns his commission. Dated 8th August,
1949.
Temp. Lieutenant J. Williamson, 1st Armoured Regiment,
R.N.Z.A.C. (Waikato), relinquishes his commission. Dated 11th
August, 1949.
Hon. Lieutenant (Bandmaster) P. T. Jarrett, 1st Armoured
Regiment, R.N.Z.A.C. (Waikato), resigns his commission. Dated
11th July, 1949.
THE ROYAL N.Z. INFANTRY CORPS
Regular Force—
N.Z. Regiment—
Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) J. A. Worsnop M.B.E., to be
Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 9th August, 1949.
Territorial Force—
The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own)—
Temp. Lieutenant D. U. Wellington, 1st Battalion, is transferred
to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Infantry
Corps, with the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 18th
December, 1941. Dated 7th July, 1949.
The North Auckland Regiment—
Lieutenant S. E. Weston, from the Reserve of Officers,
Supplementary List, to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 30th
July, 1946, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 1st December,
1948.
The North Auckland Regiment—
Temp. Lieutenant R. D. Trounson, M.C., 1st Battalion is
transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal
N.Z. Infantry Corps, with the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority

The Waikato Regiment (disbanded)—
Captain (temp. Major) J. H. Searle, E.D., 1st Battalion, is
transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, The Hauraki
Regiment, with the rank of Major, with seniority from 8th August,
1941. Dated 1st May, 1949.
Captain (temp. Major) D. E. Trevarthen, 1st Battalion, is
transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal
N.Z. Infantry Corps, with the rank of Major, with seniority from
1st November, 1941. Dated 1st May, 1949.
Temp. Captain R. G. Andrew, 1st Battalion, resigns his
commission. Dated 8th October, 1948.
Temp. Lieutenant T. G. Walsh, 1st Battalion, is transferred
to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Infantry
Corps, with the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 8th April,
1942. Dated 1st May, 1949.
Temp. 2nd Lieutenant J. G. Smith, 1st Battalion, is transferred
to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Infantry

Temp. 2nd Lieutenant C. A. Murray, 1st Battalion, is transferred

The Wellington West Coast and Taranaki Regiment—
Major E. F. Laws, E.D., from the Reserve of Officers, Regi-
mental List, 2nd Armoured Regiment, R.N.Z.A.C., to be Major,
with seniority from 18th March, 1940, and is posted to the 1st
Battalion. Dated 1st December, 1948.
Temp. Major J. W. T. Collins, from the Reserve of Officers,
Supplementary List, to be Major, with seniority from 13th November,
1947, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 1st December, 1948.
Lieutenant (temp. Major) E. R. Andrews, from the Reserve of
Officers, Supplementary List, to be Major, with seniority from
22nd December, 1945, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated
1st December, 1948.
Captain J. H. H. Pierce, M.B.E., from the Reserve of Officers,
Supplementary List, to be Captain, with seniority from 19th
November, 1946, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 1st
December, 1948.
Temp. Lieutenant E. A. Latham to be Temp. Captain and
remains seconded to the Wanganui Technical College Cadets.
Dated 1st July, 1949.
Temp. Lieutenant W. A. Williams, from the Reserve of Officers,
Supplementary List, to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 15th
November, 1948, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 1st
December, 1948.
2nd Lieutenant (temp. Lieutenant) H. D. Sandford ceases to
be seconded to the Ohakune District High School Cadets and resigns
his commission. Dated 8th July, 1949.
Noel James Gordon Bowden to be 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.)
and is seconded to the New Plymouth Boys’ High School Cadets,
Area 8. Dated 1st June, 1949.
James Wilmot Rowe to be 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) and is
seconded to the Waitara District High School Cadets, Area 8.
Dated 7th July, 1949.
The Hawkes Bay Regiment—
Temp. Major G. H. Bell ceases to be seconded to the Waipukurau
District High School Cadets and is transferred to the Reserve of
Officers, Regimental List, with the rank of Major, with seniority
from 29th October, 1945. Dated 6th July, 1949.
The Canterbury Regiment—
Captain (temp. Major) A. G. Gillies ceases to be seconded to
St. Andrew’s College Cadets, Area 10, and is posted to the Retired
List with the rank of Major. Dated 15th August, 1949.
