Waihi Swamp Drainage Area.-Penalty on Overdue Rates

Wellington, 5th February, 1948.
IN pursuance of section 76 of the Rating Act, 1925, and the
Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, the rate-
payers within the Waihi Rating Area are hereby notified that ten
per cent. additional will be added to all rates for the year ending
31st March, 1948, unpaid on 15th March, 1948.
Rates may be paid at any money-order office or to the Collector
of Rates, Lands and Survey Department, P.O. Box 2205, Auckland
land C. 1.

the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Act, 1910, and its amendments,
the ratepayers within the district constituted by the last-mentioned
Act are hereby notified that ten per cent. additional will be added
to all rates for the year ending 31st March, 1948, unpaid on 15th
March, 1948.
Rates may be paid at any money-order office or to the Collector
of Rates, Lands and Survey Department, P.O. Box 2205, Auckland
C. 1.

The Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.--Notice
declaring Land taken for the Settlement of Discharged
Servicemen
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 24 of the Servicemen's Settlement-
ment and Land Sales Act, 1943, notice was given of the
intention of the Minister of Lands to take under Part II of the
said Act the land described in the Schedule hereto, and a copy of
the said notice was published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 35
on the 26th day of June, 1947, at page 794 :
And whereas objections were made by the owners and by the
occupier in the manner prescribed by the said Act objecting to the
taking of the said land:
And whereas the Minister of Lands did not revoke his notice
of intention to take the said land:
And whereas the Land Sales Committee to which such objections
were referred did on the 9th day of December, 1947, make an order
disallowing such objections and determining that the said land is
suitable or adaptable for the settlement of a discharged serviceman
or of two or more discharged servicemen:
And whereas no appeal from the said order was made within
the time prescribed by the said Act or within any further time
allowed by the Court:
And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman
who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of
His Majesty's Forces or in any British ship:
Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of
section 27 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the land
described in the Schedule hereto is taken for the settlement of
discharged servicemen, and hereby specifies the 31st day of May,
1948, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be
vested in His Majesty the King.
SCHEDULE
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT
ALL that parcel of land situated in Block XV, Kaihu Survey Dis-
trict, containing by admeasurement two hundred and thirty-six
(236) acres one (1) rood thirty-two (32) perches, more or less, being
part of the land on Deposited Plans 3128 and 3940, being part of
Kaihu No. 1 Block, and being all the land described in certificate
of title, Vol. 299, folio 252 (Auckland Registry).
As witness my hand, this 5th day of February, 1948.

Servicemen

19th day of June, 1947, at page 755 :
And whereas an objection was made by the owner in the
manner prescribed by the said Act, objecting to the taking of the
said land:
And whereas the Minister of Lands did not revoke his notice
of intention to take the said land:
And whereas the owner withdrew such objection:
And whereas the Land Sales Committee did on the 22nd day
of December, 1947, make an order determining that the land is
farm land suitable or adaptable for the settlement of two or more
discharged servicemen:
And whereas no appeal from the said order was made within
the time prescribed by the said Act or within any further time
allowed by the Court:
And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who
is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His
Majesty's Forces or in any British ship:
Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of
section 27 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the land
described in the said Schedule is taken for the settlement of dis-
charged servicemen, and hereby specifies the 27th day of February,
1948, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested
in His Majesty the King.
SCHEDULE
GISBORNE LAND DISTRICT
ALL that parcel of land containing one thousand six hundred and
twenty-five (1,625) acres one (1) rood twenty-eight (28) perches
more or less, being part of Rakaukaka Block, Blocks IV and VIII,
Patutahi Survey District, and being the balance of the land
comprised in Deeds Index, Vol. 1, folio 162 (Gisborne Registry).
As witness my hand, this 4th day of February, 1948.

Servicemen
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 24 of the Servicemen's Settle-
ment and Land Sales Act, 1943, notice was given of the
intention of the Minister of Lands to take under Part II of the
said Act the land described in the First Schedule hereto, and a
copy of the said notice was published in the New Zealand Gazette
No. 21 on the 4th day of April, 1946, at page 424 :
And whereas an objection was made by the owner in the manner
prescribed by the said Act, objecting to the taking of the said land
and claiming the right to retain the whole of the said land:
And whereas the Minister of Lands did not revoke his notice
of intention to take the said land:
And whereas the Minister of Lands did not agree to the
retention by the owner of the whole of the said land:
And whereas the Minister of Lands did make to the owner an
offer of an area to be retained:
And whereas the owner has accepted the offer of such area to
be retained:
And whereas the owner has withdrawn the objection to the
taking of the lands described in the Second Schedule hereto:
And whereas the owner has agreed to an amended vesting-date:
And whereas the Land Sales Committee did on the 19th day
of December, 1947, make an order determining that the lands
described in the said Second Schedule are suitable or adaptable
for the settlement of a discharged serviceman or of two or more
discharged servicemen:
And whereas no appeal from the said order was made within
the time prescribed by the said Act or within any further time
allowed by the Court:
And whereas the lands described in the said Second Schedule
are not the lands of any serviceman who is for the time being
serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty's Forces or in
any British ship:
Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of
section 27 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the lands
described in the said Second Schedule are taken for the settlement
of discharged servicemen, and hereby specifies the 31st day of March,
1948, as the date on which the said lands shall be deemed to be
vested in His Majesty the King.

HAWKE'S BAY LAND DISTRICT
ALL that area containing by admeasurement two thousand nine
hundred and twenty-nine (2,929) acres two (2) roods, being parts
Rakaiatai No. 1, Otanga, and Te Ohu Blocks, being Lot 1 on
Deposited Plan 6613, part Lot 1 on Deposited Plan 6600, Lots 1
and 2 on Deposited Plan 6818, and Lot 1 on Deposited Plan 2781,
and being all the land in certificates of title, Vol. 66, folio 155,
Vol. 106, folio 220, and Vol. 75, folio 230 (Hawke's Bay Registry).
