Additional Member of Domain Board Appointed
Department of Lands and Survey,
Wellington, 15th December, 1948.
HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased, in
pursuance of section 46 of the Public Reserves, Domains, and
National Parks Act, 1928, to increase the total number of members
of the Punehu Domain Board from seven to eight, and to appoint
Bernard Donald Rogers
as the additional member thereby rendered necessary.

Elevation of Status of New Zealand Legation, Washington

IT is hereby notified for public information that on 1st December,
1948, Sir Carl Berendsen, K.C.M.G., presented to the President
of the United States of America the letter accrediting him as
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of New Zealand to
the United States of America, and that the New Zealand Legation
at Washington has now been elevated to the status of an Embassy.

The Magistrates' Courts Act, 1947.βTransfer of Records of Abolished
Courts
WHEREAS, in pursuance of a direction by His Excellency
the Governor-General, the sittings of the Magistrates' Courts
at the places named in the first column of the Schedule hereto are
to be discontinued as from the 31st day of December, 1948:
Now, therefore, pursuant to the provisions of subsection (1)
of section 70 of the Magistrates' Courts Act, 1947, I do hereby
direct that the records of the said Courts be delivered on the 1st
day of January, 1949, or as soon thereafter as may be practicable,
to the Registrars of the Magistrates' Courts at the places respectively
named in the second column of the Schedule opposite the name
of each such Court where sittings are to be discontinued.

Notice of Intention to Take Land in the City of Auckland for Housing
Purposes
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions
of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the land described in
the Schedule hereto for housing purposes: And notice is hereby
further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is
deposited in the Post-office at Auckland and is there open for inspection;
and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land
should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of
such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing,
within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the
Minister of Works at Wellington.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken:

Being Lot 183, D.P. 14665, being part Allotment 17, District of
Tamaki, and being the whole of the land comprised and
described in certificate of title, Vol. 730, folio 165 (Auckland

Situated in Block X, Rangitoto Survey District (City of
Auckland) (Auckland R.D.).
In the North Auckland Land District; as the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 128233, deposited
in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon
edged red.
