Notice of Intention to Take Land in Block IV, Heretaunga Survey District, for Road

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken : And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Chief Post-office at Napier and is there open for inspection ; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken : 1 acre 0 roods 212 perches.

Being part Ahuriri Lagoon and part Te Whare-o-Maraenui Block, being part Lot 3, D.P. 6170.

Situated in Block IV, Heretaunga Survey District (Hawke’s Bay R.D.). (S.O. 2305.)

In the Hawke’s Bay Land District ; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 127776, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured sepia.

Agreement for Grant of Easement (Right-of-way) in Favour of D. J. Barry, Limited, a Company Incorporated under the Companies Act, 1933, and Having its Registered Office at Gisborne, Over Land in the Borough of Gisborne, Taken for a Public Work, Assented to

WHEREAS by a Proclamation dated the 18th day of September, 1947, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 25th day of the same month, all that parcel of land containing approximately 1 rood, situate in the Borough of Gisborne, being Allotment 123, Town of Gisborne, was taken for a public work:

And whereas D. J. Barry, Limited, a company incorporated under the Companies Act, 1933, and having its registered office at Gisborne, is entitled to compensation for its freehold interest in the said area of 1 rood:

And whereas the Minister of Works has agreed to grant to the said D. J. Barry, Limited, a 12 ft. right-of-way along the north-eastern boundary of the aforesaid Allotment 123 in part satisfaction of the compensation aforesaid, and to provide a sum of money in satisfaction of the residue of the said compensation:

And whereas D. J. Barry, Limited, has agreed to accept such grant of easement and sum of money in full satisfaction of the said compensation:

Now, therefore, the Minister of Works doth hereby give notice, in pursuance of section 97 of the Public Works Act, 1928, that he assents to the agreement hereinbefore referred to.

Appointing the Time and Place of the First Meeting of the Otago Catchment Board

PURSUANT to the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act, 1941, the Minister of Works doth hereby appoint Wednesday, the 10th day of November, 1948, at 2.30 o’clock p.m., as the time, and the Dunedin City Council Chambers at Dunedin as the place, of the first meeting of the Otago Catchment Board.

Individual Valve-type Hearing Aids.—Notice of Approval of Additional Hearing Aids Under the Provisions of the Social Security (Hospital Benefits for Outpatients) Regulations 1947

Wellington, 6th October, 1948.

PURSUANT to the provisions of Regulation 4 of the Social Security (Hospital Benefits for Outpatients) Regulations 1947, I, Mabel Bowden Howard, Minister of Health, give notice that I have approved of the following valve-type hearing aids for the purposes of these regulations :—

Fortiphone Model No. 18 : “All in One.”

Exemption Order under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940

PURSUANT to the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940,* the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of Regulation 7 of the said regulations, so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors, shall not apply to the persons hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provisions shall apply :—

A motor-driver’s licence issued under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940 to any one of the persons described in Column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorize him to drive a heavy trade motor in the course of his employment on a farm or market-garden of the respective employer described in Column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorize him, while he is under the age of eighteen years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.

THE following special order made by the Raglan County Council on the 27th day of September, 1948, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928.

SPECIAL ORDER

“ In exercise of the powers conferred on it by the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, the Raglan County Council hereby resolves and declares, by way of special order, that the plant mentioned in the Schedule hereto (being a plant mentioned in the Second Schedule to the said Act) is a noxious weed within the County of Raglan.

(NOTE.—To take effect as from 20th October, 1948)

Position : Lat., 44° 24’ S.; long., 171° 15’ E. (approx.) Chart No. 2532.

(1) Eastern Extension Mole Light

Abridged Description : Fl. R. 1½ sec.

Details : The light has been altered to flashing red; other characteristics unaltered.

(2) Harbour Light

Abridged Description : Gp. fl. (2) W.R.G. 20 sec. 85-ft. 15 M.

Details : The light has been altered from fixed to group flashing every 20 seconds with white, red, and green sectors ; thus, flash 3½ seconds, eclipse 1 second, flash 3½ seconds, eclipse 12 seconds ; 85 ft. ; visible fifteen miles. Green from 196° to 218°, white thence to 303°, red thence to 357°, obscured elsewhere.

(2A) 12 ft. Below (2) Above

Abridged Description : F.R. 3 M.

Details : A fixed red light visible from 218° to 238° has been established for use as a lead into the harbour when in transit with East Mole Light.

(3) Benvenue Cliff Leading Lights

Details : The visibility has been increased to ten miles.
