Public Trust Office Act, 1908, and its Amendments.—Election to Administer Estates
NOTICE is hereby given that the Public Trustee has filed in the Supreme Court an election to administer in respect of the several
estates of the persons deceased whose names, residences, and occupations (so far as known) are hereunder set forth:—

Notice by the Public Trustee under the Public Trust Office Act, 1908
(Part III), and Amendments
WHEREAS it has been reported to the Public Trustee that
Joseph Jones, of Onekaka, Retired Labourer, is the owner
of the following property, the gross value of which is less than
£1,000, namely:

And whereas the said Joseph Jones has been missing since the
17th day of March, 1948, and it is not known where he is or whether
he is alive or dead: And whereas it is provided by Part III of the
Public Trust Office Act, 1908 (relating to unclaimed property), as
amended by section 41 of the Public Trust Office Amendment Act,
1921–22, that where the value of unclaimed real or personal property
does not exceed £1,000 the Public Trustee (with the consent of the
Public Trust Office Board) may, by notice in the Gazette, declare
his intention to take possession of such property and exercise the
powers conferred upon him by section 87 of the Public Trust Office
Act, 1908, without application to the Court: And whereas the
consent of the Public Trust Office Board has been duly given:
Now, the Public Trustee hereby gives notice that he intends to
take possession of the property above mentioned and all other
property of the said Joseph Jones, and to exercise in respect thereof
the powers conferred upon him in and by the provisions of the
Public Trust Office Act, 1908.

IT is notified for public information that Mr. John Frederick
Jacob Doel has been appointed to the position of Agent of
the Public Trust Office at Waiuku.

The Standards Act, 1941.—Specification Declared to be a Standard
Specification
NOTICE is hereby given that on 7th September, 1948, the under-
mentioned specification was declared to be a standard specification by the Minister of Industries and Commerce pursuant to
section 8 of the Standards Act, 1941:—
N.Z.S.S. 589: Code of Practice for Terrazzo-Work (superseding
N.Z.S.S. E. 221).

Sale of Unclaimed Property
Police Department,
Wellington, 9th September, 1948.
IT is hereby notified that unclaimed property in the hands of the
Police at the various police-stations will, if not claimed before
Saturday, the 9th October, 1948, be sold thereafter by public auction.
Particulars as to the time and place of sale may be obtained
from the Superintendent or Inspector of Police in charge of the
District.

Notice to Mariners No. 35 of 1948

SOUTH PACIFIC OCEAN.—FIJI ISLANDS.—SUVA
Erection of Beacons.—Land Reclamation.—Nomenclature of Hill and
Building
Position : Lat., 18° 09' S.; long., 178° 28' E. (approx.).
Details : (1) Concrete beacons with white diamond topmarks
have been erected in following positions:—
329½° Lami Beacon 960 feet.
322° " 660 "
321° " 360 "
034° " 540 "
036½° " 1,005 "
057½° " 7·9 cables.
(2) The conspicuous banyan tree in position 131° 7 cables
from Tamavua Beacon no longer exists, and should be deleted.
(3) The title “Na Ula Vatu,” in position 070° 5½ cables from
Tamavua Beacon, should be deleted. The 278 ft. peak about
2½ cables south of the above position is named Na Ula Vatu.
(4) Land has been reclaimed in area enclosed by following
positions:—
120½° Tamavua Beacon 395 feet.
124° " 575 "
140½° " 635 "
145° " 420 "
A wharf, 15 ft. wide, extends from position 140° Tamavua
Beacon 415 ft., in a 306° direction for 50 ft.
(5) The Powder Magazine referred to in paragraph 1 of
“Bellona” Hydrographic Note No. 7 of 26th July, 1947, is in
position 321° Tamavua Beacon 210 ft.
(6) The title “Government Buildings” in position 273° 8·3
cables from the Signal Station should be deleted. Government
buildings are now in area enclosed by following positions:—
258° Signal Station 1,635 yards.
257° " 1,630 "
258° " 1,870 "
261½° " 1,855 "
261½° " 1,825 "
259° " 1,830 "
A clock tower is in position 258° Signal Station 1,805 yards.

SOUTH PACIFIC OCEAN.—FIJI ISLANDS.—SOUTHERN LAU GROUP
Non-existence of Reef
Position : Lat., 19°.33' S.; long., 178° 25' W. (approx.).
Details : The Master of m.v. “Matua” reports that a search
of the above locality failed to reveal any trace of discoloured water,
seas breaking, or disturbance due to shallow water.
An aerial search at a height of 2,000 ft., undertaken by the
Harbourmaster, Suva, failed to reveal any trace of the reef.
