Redefining Boundaries of the Borough of Balclutha, the County of Bruce, and the Balmoral No. 2 Riding of the County of Bruce

Wellington, 28th July, 1948.
PURSUANT to the provisions of section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the Borough of Balclutha are hereby defined as set out in the First Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the said borough having been altered by Order in Council made under the Local Government Commission Act, 1946, dated the 28th day of April, 1948, and published in Gazette No. 24 of the 6th day of May, 1948.
And also, in pursuance of the provisions of the said section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933; the boundaries of the County of Bruce affected by the said Order in Council are hereby defined as set out in the Second Schedule hereto.
And, in further pursuance of the provisions of the said section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the Balmoral No. 2 Riding of the County of Bruce affected by the said Order in Council are hereby defined as set out in the Third Schedule hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF THE BOROUGH OF BALCLUTHA
ALL that area in the Otago Land District, containing 1,000 acres, more or less, being part of the Town of Balclutha and parts of Blocks 33, 35, and 36, Clutha Survey District: Bounded by a line commencing at a point on the right bank of the Clutha River (Koau Branch) in line with the south-western boundary of Lot 24, Rosebank Estate; thence north-westerly to and along that boundary, and across a public road to the south-eastern boundary of Lot 23, Rosebank Estate; thence south-westerly and north-westerly along the south-eastern and south-western boundaries of the said Lot 23 to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Lot 21 on the plan numbered 4791, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Dunedin; thence south-westerly to and along that boundary, the south-eastern boundaries of Lots 22 to 39, inclusive, on the aforesaid plan, and the abuttal of Wilson Road; thence north-westerly generally along the north-eastern boundaries of the land shown on the plan numbered 3264, deposited as aforesaid, to and along the south-eastern boundary of the land shown on the plan numbered 2900, deposited as aforesaid, to a point in line with the south-western boundary of the land shown on plan numbered 4236, deposited aforesaid; thence north-westerly along a right line, to and along the said south-western boundary, and north-easterly along the north-western boundary of the last-mentioned land, and the production of that boundary to a point 250 links from a public street forming the north-eastern boundaries of Lots 4, 3, and 2 on the plan numbered 397, deposited as aforesaid; thence north-westerly along a right line parallel to the aforesaid street to Owaka Road; thence north-easterly along that road to the northern corner of Lot 2 on the plan numbered 397 aforesaid; thence north-westerly across the Main South Road to the southern corner of the land shown on the plan numbered 2888, deposited as aforesaid; thence north-easterly along the north-western side of the Main South Road to the southern corner of the land shown on the plan numbered 6257, deposited as aforesaid; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of that land, and the south-eastern boundary of Section 12, Block XXXV, Clutha Survey District, to the southern corner of the land contained in certificates of title, Vol. 279, folio 116, Vol. 252, folio 247, and again Vol. 279, folio 116 (Otago Registry); thence north-westerly along the south-western boundaries of that land and of the land shown on the plan numbered 5901, deposited as aforesaid; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundaries of the land shown on the last-mentioned plan and of the land contained in certificates of title, Vol. 279, folio 116, Vol. 252, folio 247, and again Vol. 279, folio 116, all Otago Registry, to the Clutha River; thence down the right bank of that river to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 1, Block XXVI, Town of Balclutha; thence northerly across the Clutha River to and along the said western boundary of Section 1; thence easterly along the northern boundary of said Section 1; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern side of Yarmouth Street; thence north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of Section 3, Block XVII, and its production across Cormack Street; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern side of Cormack Street and across a public road; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of the land shown on plan numbered 1925, deposited as aforesaid; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundaries of the land on Plan 1925 aforesaid, and Plan 6341, deposited as aforesaid, to a public road; thence south-westerly along the north-western side of that road and its production to the south-western side of Cormack Street; thence south-easterly along the production of Cormack Street across Main South Road; thence north-easterly along the south-eastern side of said Main South Road; thence southerly along the western boundaries of Sections 28 and 43, Block XVII aforesaid; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern side of Yarmouth Street; thence south-westerly along the north-western boundary of Section 43, Block I, Hillend Survey District, to the left bank of the Clutha River; thence south-westerly across the Clutha River to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Section 43 aforesaid; thence down the right bank of the Clutha River and Koau Branch of said river to the point of commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF THE COUNTY OF BRUCE
ALL that area in the Otago Land District commencing on the sea-coast at the mouth of the Taieri River; thence generally south-westerly along the mean high-water mark of the ocean to the mouth of the Koau Branch of the Clutha River; thence generally north-westerly along the centre of the Koau Branch of the Clutha River and the centre of the Clutha River to the junction of Crook Burn; thence generally north-easterly along the centre of Crook Burn to its junction with the south-western boundary of Section 13, Block XI, Waitahuna West Survey District; thence south-easterly along that boundary to and across Waitahuna West Road; thence generally north-easterly along the southern side of Waitahuna West Road to the northern corner of Section 15, Block IX, Waitahuna West Survey District; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundary of Section 1, Block IX, and of Section 1, Block VII, and its production to and along the south-western boundaries of Sections 3, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18, to and across the Waitahuna River; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundaries of Blocks VI and IV, Waitahuna East Survey District, to Boundary Road; thence generally north-easterly along the boundary of Waitahuna East Survey District to Trig. Q, Round Hill; thence generally north-easterly along the watershed road to the north-eastern corner of Section 23, Block VII, Table Hill Survey District; thence north-easterly along the summit of the watershed to Trig. S; thence generally north-easterly along the watershed road through Blocks XI and IX, Table Hill Survey District, Block VII, Tuapeka East Survey District, and Block IX, Waipori Survey District, to Waitahuna Hill; thence generally south-easterly along the road reserve along the summit watershed between Meggat Burn and Waipori River to the south-eastern boundary of Run 51A and of Waipori Survey District; thence north-easterly along that boundary to the Waipori River; thence generally south-easterly along the centre of the Waipori River to Waipori Lake; thence easterly and south-westerly along the north and south-eastern shores of that lake to the Waipori River, again at the western boundary of Block VI, Maungatua Survey District; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundary of Block VI, Maungatua Survey District, to its junction with the Taieri River; thence south-easterly along the centre of the Taieri River to the point of commencement: excluding the boroughs of Kaitangata and Milton and that portion of the Borough of Balclutha which comes within the area described above.
THIRD SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF THE BALMORAL NO. 2 RIDING, COUNTY OF BRUCE
ALL that area in the Otago Land District, bounded towards the north-west by the Waitahuna River from the centre of the Clutha River to the boundary between Bruce and Tuapeka Counties; towards the north-east by the said county boundary, being the south-western boundaries of Blocks VI and IV, Waitahuna East Survey District, to the north-western corner of Section 26, Block IX, Waitahuna East Survey District; towards the east by the said Section 26, the crossing of a public road, Section 27, Block IX aforesaid, and the crossing of a public road; towards the north-west by that road to its junction with the public road on the western boundary of Section 30, Block IX aforesaid; towards the east by that road along the watershed through Blocks IX, XI, and III, Waitahuna East Survey District, to its junction with the Stoney Creek—Hillend Main Highway; generally towards the east by that highway through Blocks XI, III, and VI to its junction with the Dunedin-Gore State Highway at Trig. D; towards the east and south-east by the centre of the Dunedin-Gore State Highway to the boundary of the Borough of Balclutha; generally towards the north-west, south-west, south-east, south, and east by the Borough of Balclutha to the Clutha River; thence towards the south-west by the centre of the Clutha River to the point of commencement.

Declaring Area to be a Closely Populated Locality for the Purposes of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, Section 3
IN terms of section 3 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, the Minister of Transport doth hereby declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road, street, or other place to which the public have access therein shall be subject to the maximum speed limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.
SCHEDULE
SITUATED within Wallace County—
All that area at Ohai consisting of the Winton—Ohai—Orawia Main Highway No. 135, commencing at a point 33 chains measured in a westerly direction along the said main highway from its junction with Hastings Street and terminating at the junction of the said main highway with Speights Road.
