Fixing Date on which certain Returns under the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, are to be furnished

PURSUANT to section 28 of the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, it is hereby notified that the returns showing the total gross amount of the premiums received by or due to fire-insurance companies during the year ended 31st December, 1946, shall be transmitted to the Fire Board concerned in the manner prescribed by the said section on or before the 10th day of March, 1947.

Redefining Boundaries of the Borough of Port Chalmers, the County of Waikouaiti, and the North-east Valley Riding of the County of Waikouaiti

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the Borough of Port Chalmers are hereby defined as set out in the First Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the said borough having been altered by Order in Council made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, dated the 18th day of December, 1946, and published in Gazette No. 89 of the 19th day of December, 1946.

And also, in pursuance of the provisions of the said section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the County of Waikouaiti affected by the said Order in Council are hereby defined as set out in the Second Schedule hereto.

And, in further pursuance of the provisions of the said section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the North-east Valley Riding of the County of Waikouaiti affected by the said Order in Council are hereby defined as set out in the Third Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE BOROUGH OF PORT CHALMERS

ALL that area in the Otago Land District, bounded towards the north-west by the south-eastern side of the road forming the south-eastern boundary of Section 42, Block VI, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District, across a road, and by its eastern side to the road intersecting Section 6, Block I, Lower Harbour West Survey District, and by the southern side of that road and its production to high-water mark of Otago Harbour; thence towards the east generally by high-water mark to the northernmost point of the area Crown-granted to the Superintendent of Otago, 7th April, 1862; thence by a right line, 750 links; thence towards the south-west by a right line, 1800 links; thence again towards the north-east by a right line, about 480 links, to the George Street Pier; thence again towards the south-east by the said George Street Pier to Beach Street; again towards the north-east and north-west by the north-eastern and north-western sides of Beach Street to a point 1150 links from its most northern extremity; thence towards the south-west by a line at right angles to Beach Street, 110 links; again towards the north-west by a right line, 1100 links; again towards the north-east by a right line, 158 links, to Beach Street, and by the eastern side of the said Beach Street to the southernmost corner of the said area Crown-granted to the Superintendent of Otago; thence again towards the south-east, south, and west generally by high-water mark of Otago Harbour to a point on the southern side of Mussel Bay in line with the north-eastern boundary of Section 62, Sawyer’s Bay Survey District; thence by a right line to a point on the northern side of Mussel Bay in line with the aforesaid north-eastern boundary of Section 62; thence towards the south-east by Otago Harbour to a point in line with the north-eastern side of Station Road; thence to and by that side of said Station Road to the Dunedin-Port Chalmers Main Highway, and across that highway; thence towards the south-east by the north-western side of said highway to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Section 21, Sawyer’s Bay Survey District; thence to that boundary and towards the south-west by aforesaid Section 21; thence towards the north-west by Section 6, and across Dodson’s or Hall Road; thence towards the north-east by Allotments 1, 58, the abuttal of a private road, Allotment 59, all of D.P. 659, and Section 5, Sawyer’s Bay Survey District; thence towards the south-west by said Section 5; thence towards the north-west by Section 51; thence towards the north-east by the south-western boundary of Reservoir Road to the aforesaid main highway, across that highway; thence towards the north-east generally by the south-western side of that highway to the north-eastern boundary of aforesaid Section 62, across said highway; thence towards the south-west by said Section 62; thence towards the north-west by Sections 1, 2, 3, and 4, Lower Harbour West Survey District, to the road at the easternmost corner of the said Section 4, across that road, by Section 4 aforesaid, across a road, again by that section to its northernmost corner; thence to and across the road at the southernmost corner of Section 38, Block VI, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District, by the north-eastern side of the road forming the south-western boundaries of Sections 38, 37, 36, and 35, Block VI aforesaid, and by the north-western boundaries of Sections 35 and 39, Block VI aforesaid, to the road forming the south-eastern boundary of Section 42, Block VI aforesaid, the place of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE COUNTY OF WAIKOUAITI

ALL that area in the Otago Land District, bounded by a line commencing at Trig. S, Swamy Hill; thence along a right line to Silver Peak; thence along a right line to the south-western corner of Block VII, Silverpeak Survey District; thence along the south-western boundary of the said Block VII, the southern and western boundaries of Block IX, Silverpeak Survey District, to and along the middle of the road forming the south-eastern boundary of Section 5, Block VIII, Silverpeak Survey District; thence to and along the western boundary of said Section 5, to and along the western boundaries of Runs 171B, 171G, and 171C to the Hummock; thence to the eastern boundary of Block VII, Strath Taieri Survey District, by a line running from the Hummock to the south-eastern corner of Run 205E; thence along the eastern boundary of said Block VII, to and along the northern boundaries of Sections 19, 18, 22, and 23, Block VI, Budle Survey District, the north-western boundary of Section 1, Block V, Budle Survey District, the north-western boundary of Run 121H, and the north-western and northern boundaries of Run 121G; thence to and along the middle of the Waikouaiti River to a point in line with the southern boundary of Dunback Survey District; thence along the southern boundaries of Dunback and Moeraki Survey Districts and the Borough of Palmerston to the Main North Road; across that road and along its eastern side to Watkin’s Creek; thence along the left bank of that creek and Pleasant River to the ocean; thence by the ocean and Otago Harbour to the easternmost corner of the Borough of Port Chalmers; thence by the Borough of Port Chalmers hereinbefore described to the boundary of the Borough of West Harbour; thence by the Borough of West Harbour, as described in the New Zealand Gazette of 19th December, 1945, at page 1576, and the city of Dunedin, as described in the New Zealand Gazette of 24th October, 1946, at page 1633, to the point of commencement, and excepting out of the above-described area the Borough of Waikouaiti, as described in the New Zealand Gazette of 7th November, 1912, at page 3217.

THIRD SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE NORTH-EAST VALLEY RIDING, COUNTY OF WAIKOUAITI

ALL that area in the Otago Land District, bounded by a line commencing at Trig. S, Swamy Hill; thence along a right line from Swamy Hill to Silver Peak to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 32, Block III, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District; thence to and along that boundary and its production to the middle of a road forming the eastern boundary of said Section 32; thence along the middle of that road to a point in line with the south-western side of Miller Road; thence along that south-western side to the north-eastern corner of Section 8 aforesaid, Block III; thence along the eastern boundaries of said Section 8 and Sections 3, 6, and 7 to the northern boundary of Block XII, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District; thence along that boundary and its production to the middle of the Main North Road; thence along the middle of that road to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Section 54, Block VII, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District; thence along the north-eastern and south-western boundaries of said Section 54, the south-western, southern, and eastern boundaries of Section 55, and the southern boundary of Section 73, all of Block VII aforesaid; thence along the north-western and south-western boundaries of Block VI, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District, and the south-western and south-eastern boundaries of Block II, Lower Harbour West Survey District, to the north-eastern corner of Section 62, Sawyer’s Bay Survey District; thence by the boundary of the Waikouaiti County hereinbefore described to the point of commencement.

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928 (hereinafter termed the said Act), and by the regulations made on the 12th May, 1914, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 21st May, 1914, the following officers, at the addresses set against their names, are hereby appointed transmitting and receiving officers for the purpose of dealing with all notices by telegraph sent under the said Act or regulations, and of signing such certificates in relation to the service of any such notices as are required or authorized to be signed or given under the said Act or the regulations aforesaid:—
