Notice of Intention to take Land in Block X, Belmont Survey District,
for a Post-office

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions
of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public
work—to wit, the construction of a post-office—and for the purposes
of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is
required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the
plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-
office at Stokes Valley and is there open for inspection; and that
all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by
the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded
objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking
of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing,
within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the
Minister of Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken:
36.4 perches.
Being Lot 2, D.P. 12713 (Town of Korau Extension No. 16), being
part Section 72, Hutt District, and being the whole of the land
comprised and described in certificate of title, Vol. 500,
folio 172 (Wellington Land Registry).
In the Wellington Land District; as the same is more parti-
cularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 125833, deposited
in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon
coloured red.

Notice of Intention to take Additional Land in the Borough of
Dannevirke for a Secondary School

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions
of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the additional land
described in the Schedule hereto for a secondary school: And
notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land required
to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Dannevirke and is
there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the
taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded
objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing,
and send such writing, withing forty days from the first publication
of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of additional land required to be
taken: 1 rood 37 perches.
Being part Section 76 (Small Farm Allotment).
Situated in Block III, Tahoraite Survey District (Borough of
Dannevirke) (Hawke's Bay R.D.).
In the Hawke's Bay Land District; as the same is more parti-
cularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 125842, deposited
in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon
edged red.

Revoking a Warrant declaring Area to be a Closely Populated Locality

IN terms of section 3 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act,
1936, the Minister of Transport doth hereby revoke the
Warrant dated the 3rd day of July, 1941,* declaring an area
situated within Malvern, Paparua, and Springs Counties described
in the Schedule hereto to be a closely populated locality for the
purposes of the said section.

SCHEDULE
SITUATED within Malvern, Paparua, and Springs Counties—
All that area at Burnham, bounded to the north-west by a
line at right angles to Aylesbury Road at a distance of
45 chains measured along the centre-line of the said road
in a north-westerly direction from its intersection with the
centre-line of the Christchurch-Timaru Main Highway at
a distance of 20 chains measured along the centre-line
of the said main highway in a north-easterly direction
from its intersection with the centre-line of Aylesbury
Road; bounded to the south-east by a line at right
angles to Burnham Road at a distance of 3 chains measured
along the centre-line of the said road from its intersection
with the centre-line of the Christchurch-Timaru Main
Highway; and bounded to the south-west by a line at
right angles to the Christchurch-Timaru Main Highway
at a distance of 35 chains measured along the centre-line
of the said main highway from its intersection with the
centre-line of the Burnham Road, the boundaries of the
whole area being indicated by a green border on the plan
marked TT. 1664, and deposited in the office of the
Transport Department at Wellington.

Kaitaia Drainage Area.—Notice of making and levying General Rates

I, CLARENCE FARRINGDON SKINNER, Minister of Lands,
in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Swamp
Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, do hereby make and levy,
on the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town District
Subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area constituted under the said
Act, a general rate described in the First Schedule hereto, and on
the unimproved value of all land in the subdivision of the Kaitaia
Drainage Area outside the Kaitaia Town District the general rates
described in the Second Schedule hereto, such respective rates being
for the purpose of meeting maintenance-costs for the period from
the 1st April, 1947, to the 31st March, 1948.
The said rates, together with the annually recurring special
rates already made and levied, will be payable in one sum on the
30th August, 1947, to the Collector of Rates, at the Chief Drainage
Engineer's Office, Room 15, First Floor, Government Buildings,
Customs Street West, Auckland, at which office the rate-book will
be available for inspection. A copy of the rate-book will be available
for inspection at the office of the Chief Drainage Engineer at Kaitaia.

FIRST SCHEDULE
TOWN SUBDIVISION
On the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town
District, ninety-seven one-hundredths of a penny (0.97d.) in
the pound.

SECOND SCHEDULE
RURAL SUBDIVISION
CLASS A.—On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class A
by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of
the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928, eighteen-pence
and fifty-three one-hundredths of a penny (18.53d.) in the
pound.
CLASS B.—On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class B,
sixpence and forty-nine one-hundredths of a penny (6.49d.) in
the pound.
CLASS C.—On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class C,
twopence and seventy-eight one-hundredths of a penny (2.78d.)
in the pound.

The Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice
declaring Land taken for the Settlement of Discharged Servicemen

WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of
the Land Sales Court to a transaction which relates to the
land described in the Schedule hereto and to which Part III of the
Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, applies:
And whereas the Land Sales Committee to which the application
has been referred is of opinion that the land to which the application
relates is farm land suitable for the settlement of discharged servicemen:
And whereas the said committee, not being satisfied that the
Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of
the land, did on the 16th day of July, 1947, make an order determining
the basic value of the land and no appeal from the said
order was made within the time prescribed by the said Act or within
any further time allowed by the Court:
And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman
who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of
His Majesty's Forces or in any British ship:
Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of
section 51 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the said land
is taken for the settlement of discharged servicemen, and hereby
specifies the 15th day of September, 1947, as the date on which the
said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.

SCHEDULE
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT
ALL that parcel of land containing one hundred and twenty-two
(122) acres three (3) roods and twenty-four (24) perches, more or
less, being part Lot 3 on a plan deposited in the Land Registry
Office at Christchurch as No. 908, being part Rural Section 4656,
situated in Block XIV, Geraldine Survey District, and being part
of the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 137, folio 272
(Canterbury Registry).
Also all that parcel of land containing two hundred and forty-
eight (248) acres, more or less, being Lot 7 on a plan deposited in
the Land Registry Office at Christchurch as No. 400, being Rural
Sections 10318, 10322, 10419, and 10569, situated in Block XIV,
Geraldine Survey District, and being the whole of the land comprised
in certificate of title, Vol. 215, folio 257 (Canterbury Registry).
Also all that parcel of land containing five (5) acres and twenty
(20) perches, more or less, being part of Rural Section 6723, situated
in Block XIV, Geraldine Survey District, and being the whole of
the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 244, folio 85 (Canterbury
Registry), together with and subject to the easements in respect of
water-race created by Transfers Nos. 67030, 67032, 67034, 71546,
78478, 78480, and 78482.
