Revocation of Appointment of certain Garage-proprietors for issue
of Warrants of Fitness

IN terms of Regulation 11 of the Traffic Regulations 1936, and of
all other powers enabling me in that behalf, I, James O’Brien,
Minister of Transport, do hereby revoke the approval of the person
and firm described in the Schedule hereto for the purpose of the
issue of Warrants of Fitness for motor-vehicles.

Kaitaia Drainage Area.—Notice of Intention to make and levy General
Rates

Department of Lands and Survey,
Wellington, 7th July, 1947.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended, pursuant to the
Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, to make
and levy, on the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia
Town District Subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area constituted
under the said Act, the general rate described in the First Schedule
hereto, and on the unimproved value of all land in the subdivision
of the Kaitaia Drainage Area outside the Kaitaia Town District
the general rates described in the Second Schedule, such respective
rates being for the purpose of meeting maintenance-costs for the
period from the 1st April, 1947, to the 31st March, 1948.

The amount of the general rates, together with the annually
recurring special rates already made and levied, will be payable in
one sum on the 30th August, 1947.

The valuation roll of the area will be available for inspection
at the office of the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage Engineer’s
Office, Room 15, First Floor, Government Buildings, Customs
Street West, Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at
the office of the Chief Drainage Engineer, Kaitaia, at all times at
which these offices are open for the transaction of public business.

FIRST SCHEDULE
TOWN SUBDIVISION
General Rate

ON the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town
District, ninety-seven one-hundredths of a penny (0·97d.) in the
pound.

SECOND SCHEDULE
RURAL SUBDIVISION
General Rate

CLASS A.—On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class A
by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3
of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928, eighteen-pence
and fifty-three one-hundredths of a penny (18·53d.) in the
pound.

CLASS B.—On the unimproved value of all land so classified as
Class B, sixpence and forty-nine one-hundredths of a penny
(6·49d.) in the pound.

CLASS C.—On the unimproved value of all land so classified as
Class C, twopence and seventy-eight one-hundredths of a
penny (2·78d.) in the pound.

Declaring Parts of a Tribal District to be Tribal Committee Areas
under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945

PURSUANT to section 14 of the Maori Social and Economic
Advancement Act, 1945, I, Eruera Tihema Tirikatene, acting
for the Native Minister, do hereby declare the parts of the tribal
district described in the Schedule hereto to be tribal committee
areas for the purposes of the said Act, and do hereby assign to each
of the several areas the name appearing at the head of the description
of each such area.

SCHEDULE

WELLINGTON TRIBAL DISTRICT
Hutt Valley Tribal Committee Area

ALL that area bounded by a line commencing at Mount Hector,
in Block I, Eritonga Survey District; thence southerly generally
along the summit of the Tararua and Rimutaka Ranges to the
northern boundary of Orongorongo No. 1a Block, situated in
Block IX, Pencarrow Survey District; thence along the last-
mentioned boundary to the mean high-water mark of the sea at
Palliser Bay; thence southerly, westerly, and northerly generally
along the mean high-water mark to Pencarrow Head; thence due
west along a right line to the middle of the entrance of Port Nichol-
son; thence up to the middle of Port Nicholson, so as to include
Somes Island and Ward Island, to a point on the western shore of
Port Nicholson in line with the south-western boundary of Section 10,
Block XII, Belmont Survey District; thence north-westerly to
and along that boundary, and a right line to Trig. Station Upper
Ngauranga; thence northerly along a right line to Trig. Station M;
thence north-easterly along right lines to Trig. Stations Magee,
Cannons, Horokiwi, Woodman, Moonshine, and Kakanui, a right
line to the easternmost corner of Ngarara West C 18 Section 1, and
the western boundary of Section 8, Block III, Akatarawa Survey
District; thence easterly along the northern boundaries of Sections
8 and 10, Block III aforesaid, to the north-eastern corner of the
last-mentioned section, and a right line to Mount Hector, the place
of commencement.
