All that area in the County of Waimairi, Canterbury Land District, bounded by a line commencing at a point at the intersection of Preston’s Road and Grimsey’s Road; thence easterly along the middle of Preston’s Road to the middle of Burwood Road; thence southerly along the middle of Burwood Road to the road forming the northern boundary of Rural Section 18184; thence north-easterly and south-easterly along the middle of that road to Frost’s Road; thence southerly along the middle of Frost’s Road to the middle of Travis Road; thence westerly along the middle of Travis Road to the middle of Burwood Road; thence southerly along the middle of Burwood Road to the middle of Lake Terrace Road; thence westerly generally along the middle of Lake Terrace Road, Horseshoe Lake Road, and Brigg’s Road to the middle of Hill’s Road; thence southerly and south-westerly along the middle of Hill’s Road and Westminster Street to the northern boundary of the City of Christchurch, as described in the First Schedule hereto; thence westerly along the northern boundary of the City of Christchurch to the south-west boundary of Rural Section 1048; thence along the south-west and north-west boundaries of Rural Section 1048 to the junction of Winter’s Road and Grimsey’s Road; thence northerly along the middle of Grimsey’s Road to the point of commencement.

Arbor Day

Wellington, 10th July, 1947.

It is hereby notified that Wednesday, 6th August, 1947, is to be observed as Arbor Day, and in view of the national importance of tree planting, local bodies throughout New Zealand are requested to organize suitable celebrations on that date.

Where, on account of local climatic conditions in any district, the 6th August is deemed unsuitable, the local bodies affected are invited to observe some other suitable day in that month.

Revoking Portion of a Warrant declaring Areas to be Closely Populated Localities and declaring Areas to be Closely Populated Localities for the Purposes of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, Section 3

In terms of section 3 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, the Minister of Transport doth hereby revoke that portion of the Warrant dated the 12th day of May, 1938,* which refers to portions of the roads described in the Schedule hereto, and doth hereby declare the areas described in the said Schedule to be closely populated localities for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road, street, or other place to which the public have access therein shall be subject to the maximum speed limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.

SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Manawatu County—

All that area at Sanson consisting of that portion of the Wanganui–Levin State Highway No. 12 commencing at a point 5 chains measured along the said State highway in a north-westerly direction from its junction with Farmer Street and terminating at a point 13 chains measured along the said State highway in a south-westerly direction from its junction with the Sanson–Palmerston North State Highway, a distance of approximately 45 chains.

All that area at Sanson consisting of that portion of the Sanson–Palmerston North State Highway No. 33 commencing at a point 8 chains measured along the said State highway in a south-easterly direction from its junction with the Wanganui–Levin State Highway and terminating at the said junction.

Declaring Area to be a Closely Populated Locality for the Purposes of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, Section 3

In terms of section 3 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, the Minister of Transport doth hereby declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road, street, or other place to which the public have access therein shall be subject to the maximum speed limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.

SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Marlborough County—

All that area at Rai Valley consisting of the Blenheim–Nelson State Highway No. 52 commencing at the Rai Valley School and terminating at the War Memorial, a distance of approximately 48 chains.

In terms of Regulation 5 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby approve of the persons named in Column 2 of the Schedule hereunder being Testing Officers under the said regulations for the authority specified in Column 1 of the said Schedule.
