Notice of Intention to take Land in Block X, Christchurch Survey District, for Road

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Christchurch and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 1 rood 1·7 perches.

Being part Lot 1, D.P. 5274 (part Rural Section 85).

Situated in Block X, Christchurch Survey District (Canterbury R.D.).

In the Canterbury Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 125599, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.

Exemption Order under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940

PURSUANT to the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940,* the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of Regulation 7 of the said regulations, so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors, shall not apply to the persons hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply:—

A motor-driver’s licence issued under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940 to any one of the persons described in Column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorize him to drive a heavy trade motor in the course of his employment on a farm or market-garden of the respective employer described in Column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorize him, while he is under the age of eighteen years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.

Classification of Road in Stratford County

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Transport Department Act, 1929, and the Heavy Motor-vehicle Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby revoke the Warrant classifying roads in the Stratford County dated the 5th day of October, 1939,* in so far as it relates to the classification of the road described in the Schedule hereto, and doth hereby approve the Stratford County Council’s proposed classification of the said road.

SCHEDULE

STRATFORD COUNTY

ROAD classified in Class Four: Available for the use thereon of any multi-axled heavy motor-vehicle or any trailer which with the load it is carrying has an axle weight of not more than 4 tons on any one axle, or of any other heavy motor-vehicle which with the load it is carrying has an axle weight of not more than 3½ tons on any one axle:—

Stratford–Taumarunui Main Highway No. 823 (that portion within Stratford County from Douglas Township to Strathmore Township).

Declaring Area to be a Closely Populated Locality for the Purposes of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, Section 3

IN terms of section 3 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, the Minister of Transport doth hereby declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road, street, or other place to which the public have access therein shall be subject to the maximum speed limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.

SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Awatere County—

All that area at Seddon consisting of the Picton–Christchurch State Highway No. 51, commencing at the junction of the said State highway with the Seddon–Marama Main Highway, proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly and north-westerly direction and terminating at the junction of the said State highway with Fell Street.

Special Arrangements for the Provision of Medical and Pharmaceutical Services for the Residents of Mangakino Special Area

I, MABEL BOWDEN HOWARD, Minister of Health, hereby notify for general information that pursuant to section 82 of the Social Security Act, 1938, as extended by section 15 of the Finance Act (No. 4), 1940, I have made special arrangements by which all persons usually resident in the district described in the Schedule hereto (hereinafter referred to as the said district) are, on and after the 14th day of February, 1947, entitled to receive without charge, at the hands of David Craig Lloyd Clay, of Mangakino, Registered Medical Practitioner, all such medical and pharmaceutical requirements as are provided as benefits in accordance with the Social Security (Medical Benefits) Regulations 1941, the Social Security General Medical Services Regulations 1941, and the Social Security (Pharmaceutical Supplies) Regulations 1941.

In accordance with the provisions of section 82 (2) of the Social Security Act, 1938, the general provisions of the aforementioned regulations in relation to medical and pharmaceutical supplies will not be applicable to residents of the said district for the time being provided for by the special arrangements notified herein.

SCHEDULE

ALL that portion of the Matamata and Taupo Counties, bounded by a line commencing at a point in Block XIII, Patetere South Survey District, being a point in the middle of the Waikato River in line with the south-eastern boundary of part Maraetai Block shown on the plan numbered 19181, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland; thence north-easterly to and along that boundary to Trig. Station 4; thence easterly along a right line to Trig. Station 1002, in Block XV, Patetere South Survey District, and a right line to Trig. Station 807, Uraura, in Block VII, Ngautuku Survey District, being a point on the eastern boundary of the Matamata County; thence south-westerly and westerly along that boundary, being a right line in the direction of the mouth of the Waihora Stream at Lake Taupo, to the middle of the Waikato River, and a line down the middle of that river to the southern boundary of Block VI, Whakamaru Survey District; thence westerly, northerly, and easterly along the southern, western, and northern boundaries of that block to the middle of the Waikato River; thence north-westerly generally down the middle of that river to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of part Maraetai Block shown on the plan numbered 19181 aforesaid, being the point of commencement.
