Transmitting and Receiving Officers for the Service of Notices by Telegraph

Wellington, 16th June, 1947.

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928 (hereinafter termed the said Act), and by the regulations made on the 12th May, 1914, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 21st May, 1914, the following officers, at the addresses set against their names, are hereby appointed transmitting and receiving officers for the purpose of dealing with all notices by telegraph sent under the said Act or regulations, and of signing such certificates in relation to the service of any such notices as are required or authorized to be signed or given under the said Act or the regulations aforesaid :—

Stanley Graham Heffernan, Postmaster, Ashburton.
George Walter Kite, Postmaster, Dannevirke.
William Ransom Stuckey, Chief Postmaster, Wanganui.

The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice declaring Land taken for the Settlement of a Discharged Serviceman

WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of the Land Sales Court to a transaction which relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto and to which Part III of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, applies :

And whereas the Land Sales Committee to which the application has been referred is of opinion that the land to which the application relates is farm land suitable or adaptable for the settlement of a discharged serviceman :

And whereas the said committee, not being satisfied that the Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of the land, did on the 3rd day of June, 1947, make an order determining the basic value of the land and no appeal from the said order was made within the time prescribed by the said Act or within any further time allowed by the Court :

And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty’s Forces or in any British ship :

Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 51 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of a discharged serviceman, and hereby specifies the 24th day of July, 1947, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.


SCHEDULE

OTAGO LAND DISTRICT

ALL that parcel of land containing five hundred and eight (508) acres and thirty-five (35) perches, more or less, being the land in Deposited Plan 4553, and being part Sections 6 and 32, P.R. Block I, Glenkenich Survey District, and being also Sections 4 and 5, Block I, Glenkenich Survey District, and being all the land in certificate of title, Vol. 303, folio 66 (Otago Registry).

And whereas the owner has withdrawn such appeal :

And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty’s Forces or in any British ship :

Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 51 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of a discharged serviceman, and hereby specifies the 17th day of July, 1947, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.


SCHEDULE

TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT

ALL that parcel of land containing eleven (11) acres, being Lot A, Deposited Plan 2556, part Section 119, Moa District, Block IV, Egmont Survey District, and being all of the land in certificate of title, Vol. 62, folio 225 (Taranaki Registry).

The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice declaring Land taken for the Settlement of Discharged Servicemen

WHEREAS, pursuant to section 24 of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, notice was given of the intention of the Minister of Lands to take under Part II of the said Act the lands described in the First Schedule hereto, and a copy of the said notice was published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 46 on the 27th day of June, 1946, at page 915 :

And whereas an objection was made by the owner in the manner prescribed by the said Act, objecting to the taking of the said lands and claiming a retention area :

And whereas the Land Sales Committee to which such objection was referred did on the 3rd day of December, 1946, make an order disallowing such objection :

And whereas an appeal was made against such order by the owners in the manner prescribed by the said Act :

And whereas the Land Sales Court did vary the said order by limiting the area of the said lands which the Crown is allowed to take to the lands described in the Second Schedule hereto :

And whereas the owners have agreed to an amended vesting-date :

And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty’s Forces or in any British ship :

Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 27 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the lands described in the said Second Schedule hereto are taken for the settlement of discharged servicemen, and hereby specifies the 1st day of July, 1947, as the date on which the said lands shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.


FIRST SCHEDULE

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT

ALL those parcels of land containing by admeasurement eight hundred and forty-seven (847) acres and fifteen (15) poles, more or less, being Sections 4, 5, 6, and 14, and part Sections 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 (part Deposited Plan 1419), Block II, Mataura Hundred, and being the whole of the land contained in certificate of title, Vol. 154, folio 297 (Southland Registry), and also all those parcels of land containing by admeasurement fifteen (15) acres, more or less, being Lots 1, 2, and 3 (Deposited Plan 1273), being part Sections 7 and 8, Block II, Mataura Hundred, and being the balance of the land contained in certificate of title, Vol. 87, folio 125 (Southland Registry).


SECOND SCHEDULE

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT

ALL those areas containing together three hundred and fifty-eight (358) acres two (2) roods ten (10) perches, more or less, being—firstly, part Sections 5 and 6 (Deposited Plan 1419), Block II, Mataura Hundred, containing one hundred and eighteen (118) acres and twenty-eight (28) perches, more or less ; secondly, part Sections 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 (Deposited Plan 1419), and Lots 1, 2, and 3 (Deposited Plan 1273), being part Sections 7 and 8, Block II, Mataura Hundred, containing two hundred and forty (240) acres one (1) rood and twenty-two (22) perches, more or less, and being part of the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 154, folio 297 (Southland Registry), and the balance of the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 87, folio 125 (Southland Registry). As the same are more particularly delineated on plan numbered S.O. 5729, lodged in the office of the Chief Surveyor at Invercargill, and thereon edged red.

The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice of Intention to take Land

THE Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 24 of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, hereby gives notice of his intention to take the lands described in the Schedule hereto under Part II of the said Act, and specifies the 27th day of February, 1948, as the date on which possession of the land is required, and the 14th day of August, 1947, as the date on or before which objections may be made under section 25 of the said Act.


SCHEDULE

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT

ALL that area situate in Block I, Huangarua Survey District, containing by admeasurement two hundred and seventy-one (271) acres one (1) rood thirty-six decimal six (36·6) perches, more or less, being part Uruokakiti South B No. 3, and being also all the land comprised and described in certificate of title, Vol. 293, folio 74 (Wellington Registry).
