SCHEDULE
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—ROTORUA CONSERVANCY
Oraka Fire District
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, Matamata County, containing approximately 16,500 acres, situated in Blocks VII VIII, XI, XII, XV, and XVI, Patetere North Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Towards the north-east by the northern side of Leslie's Road to the western boundary of Patetere North-east Survey District, towards the east by that boundary to the Auckland-Rotorua Railway Reserve; towards the south by the northern side of the aforesaid railway reserve, by Whaiti-Kuranui No. 1b Y 2c 5 Block, and the Oraka Stream to the Te Whetu Road, and by the northern sides of the Te Whetu Road and the Ngatira Road; towards the south-west by the eastern side of the Waitoa-Taupo Main Highway to the south-western corner of Section 32, Block XI, Patetere North Survey District; and towards the north-west by the north-western side of a public road forming the south-eastern boundary of Section 32 aforesaid to Harris Road, and by Sections 141, 142, 116, and 112, Block VII, Patetere North Survey District. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 37/9, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Notice as to an Area in Auckland Land District declared to be a Fire District
Pursuant to section 27 of the Forests Act, 1921–22, I do hereby notify that on the recommendation of the Director of Forestry and the Auckland Land Board the area described in the Schedule hereto is hereby declared by me to be a fire district, to be known as the “Whirinaki Fire District,” and, with respect to the fire district hereby constituted, I do further specify the period from the 1st day of October in any year to the 15th day of April in the following year, both dates inclusive, as the period during which it shall not be lawful for any person, except pursuant to the written permit of a Forest Officer, to set on fire or cause to be set on fire within the said district any timber (whether standing or not), or any undergrowth, or any debris from forest operations or land-clearing operations, or any grass or other specially inflammable material, without taking such precautions as may be prescribed by a Forest Officer.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—ROTORUA CONSERVANCY
Whirinaki Fire District
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing approximately 129,700 acres, situated in Blocks XIII and XIV, Galatea Survey District, Blocks IV, VIII, XI, XII, XV, and XVI, Weao Survey District, Blocks I, II, V, VI, IX, X, XI, XIII, XIV, and XV, Ahikereru Survey District, Blocks III, IV, VII, VIII, XI, and XII, Heruiwi Survey District, and Blocks I; II, III, V, VI, IX, X, Tuatawhata Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Commencing at a point on the Rotorua-Waikaremoana Road in Block XIII, Galatea Survey District, 40 chains distant from the Rangitaiki River; thence towards the north-east by the north-eastern side of the aforesaid road and by the northern side of a road traversing Whirinaki No. 2 Block to the Whirinaki River, and by the left bank of that river to a point opposite the northern boundary of Section 1, Block II, Ahikereru Survey District; thence towards the north by part of Urewera A Block; towards the east generally by part of Urewera A Block, part of Pamatanga Block, Section 3, Block XI, Ahikereru Survey District, Whakatau Block, the crossing of a public road, and by Waituhi Block and Mangapai Block to the eastern boundary of a permanent State forest (Gazette, 1944, page 627); towards the south-east by part of Urewera A Block, being the boundary of the aforesaid permanent State forest, to the junction of that boundary with the Heruiwi Block; towards the south-west by part of the Heruiwi Block along a right line from the aforesaid junction to Trig. 5; thence by Section 1, Block XI, Heruiwi Survey District, to the eastern boundary of the Kaingaroa-Rotorua Fire District (Gazette, 1947, page 36), and towards the west by the aforesaid Kaingaroa-Rotorua Fire District to the point of commencement. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 47/51, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Alteration of Boundaries of Kaingaroa-Rotorua Fire District
Whereas by a notice published in the Gazette of the 28th day of February, 1946, at page 278 (hereinafter referred to as the said notice), a certain area in the Auckland Land District was declared to be a fire district under section 27 of the Forests Act, 1921–22 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), and named the “Kaingaroa-Rotorua Fire District”:
And whereas it is expedient to alter the boundaries of the Kaingaroa-Rotorua Fire District:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said Act, and on the recommendation of the Director of Forestry and of the Land Board of the Auckland Land District, I hereby revoke the said notice, and do declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a fire district to be known as the “Kaingaroa-Rotorua Fire District”; and, with respect to the fire district constituted as aforesaid, I do further specify the period from the 1st day of October in any year to the 15th day of April in the following year, inclusive, as the period during which it shall not be lawful for any person within the said district, save pursuant to the written permit of a Forest Officer, to set on fire or cause to be set on fire any timber, whether standing or not, or any undergrowth, or any debris from forest operations or land-clearing operations, or any grass or other specially inflammable material, without taking such precautions as may be prescribed by a Forest Officer.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—ROTORUA CONSERVANCY
Kaingaroa-Rotorua Fire District
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, Tauranga, Matamata, Taupo, Rotorua, and Whakatane Counties, containing approximately 1,398,000 acres, and bounded generally as follows: Commencing at Awakaponga Railway-station on the East Coast Main Trunk Railway; thence generally in a south-westerly direction along the eastern side of a public road and the north-western side of the Rotorua-Whakatane Road to the western boundary of Whakatane County; thence southwards along that boundary to the northern boundary of permanent State forest (Gazette, 1931, page 3412); thence in an easterly direction along the boundary of the permanent State forest aforesaid and the Pokairoa Stream to the Rangitaiki River; thence proceeding generally southward along the left banks of the Rangitaiki and Whirinaki Rivers to a point on the left bank of the last-named river, situated 40 chains eastward on the right bank of the Rangitaiki River; thence generally southward along a line parallel to and situated 40 chains to the eastward of the right banks of the Rangitaiki and Whaeo Rivers to the Mangaretu Stream; thence southward along the said stream and the eastern boundaries of Heruiwi No. 4A Nos. 2 and 1 to Trig. Station Tiri Tiri; thence along the south-eastern boundary of Heruiwi No. 4A No. 1; thence southward and westward along the eastern and southern boundaries of Pukahunui No. 2 to an angle in the boundary about 80 chains north-west of a road; thence westward along a straight line for a distance of about 90 chains to Trig. Station No. 52 (Kokomoka) in Block XIII, Heruiwi Survey District; thence in a south-westerly direction along a straight line to Trig. Station No. 50 (Omeruiti) in Block VII, Maruanui Survey District; thence in a westerly direction along a straight line to Trig. Station 48A in Block VI, Maruanui Survey District; thence along a straight line to Trig. Station Wairangi in Block VII, Waitahanui Survey District; thence in a north-westerly direction along a straight line between Trig. Station Wairangi aforesaid and Trig. Station No. 45 in Block XIII, Tauhara Survey District, to the National Park – Taupo State Highway; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern side of that highway to the Hinemaiai Stream, and by that stream to the shores of Lake Taupo; thence proceeding generally northerly and easterly along the shores of Lake Taupo to the Otaketake Stream; thence in a north-westerly direction along a straight line to Trig. Station No. 1842 in Block VIII, Marotiri Survey District; thence along a straight line to Trig. Station No. 1781 in Block X, Whakamaru Survey District; thence along a straight line to Trig. Station No. 1771 in Block I, Whakamaru Survey District; thence along a straight line to the junction of the Waiteti Stream and the Waipapa River; thence along a straight line to the south-western corner of Section 7, Block XII, Wharepapa Survey District; thence in a northerly direction by a right line across the Arohena Road and along the western side of that road to a point opposite the south-eastern boundary of Section 24, Block VIII, Wharepapa Survey District; thence in a north-easterly direction across the Arohena Road and along the south-eastern boundaries of Section 24 and 18, Block VIII, Wharepapa Survey District, and by a right line to and across the Arapuni Lake to a point opposite the south-western corner of Matanuku No. 2D Block; thence in a northerly direction along the eastern shore of Arapuni Lake to the Arapuni-Putaruru Main Highway; thence in an easterly direction along the north side of the Arapuni-Putaruru Main Highway; thence in a south-easterly direction along the eastern side of the Waitoa-Taupo Main Highway to the Ngatira Road; thence in an easterly direction along the northern sides of the Ngatira Road and the Te Whetu Road to the eastern boundary of S.G.R. 36, along that boundary and by that boundary produced to the northern side of the Auckland-Rotorua Railway Reserve and along the northern side of that railway reserve to the Ngongotaha Stream, and by that stream to the shores of Lake Rotorua; thence northwards and eastwards along the shores of Lake Rotorua to the Ohau Stream; thence generally in a northerly direction by the Ohau Stream to the Te Ngae – Paengaroa Main Highway, and by the western side of that highway to the East Coast Main Trunk Railway Reserve; thence in an easterly direction along the south side of the aforesaid railway reserve to the point of commencement: excepting therefrom the Whakarewarewa Fire District (Gazette, 1947, page 37), Rotoehu Fire District (Gazette, 1945, page 488), Tahorakuri Fire District (Gazette, 1936, page 169), Maraetai Fire District (Gazette, 1936, page 169), Tokoroa Fire District (Gazette, 1936, page 169), Tatua Fire District (Gazette, 1936, page 169), and Tauhara Fire District (Gazette, 1939, page 182). As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 47/52, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
