β¨ Fire District Boundary Alterations and Marketing Notices
Alteraion of Boundaries of Whakatane Fire District
WHEREAS by section 27 of the Forests Act, 1921-22, as amended by section 6 of the Forests Amendment Act, 1925 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), it is enacted that the Commissioner of State Forests, on application by any owner or occupier of land, may constitute by notice in the Gazette such land and any other land as a fire district for the purpose of securing the safety from damage by fire of any trees on any private or other lands of an area of not less than 200 acres:
And whereas Timberlands Woodpulp Extended, Limited, is the owner of certain lands in the Whakatane County exceeding the said area:
And whereas Whakatane Paper Mills, Limited, for and on behalf of the said owner, made application to me dated 25th of February, 1946, for the constitution of a fire district:
And whereas by notice published in the Gazette on the 28th day of February, 1946, at page 279 (hereinafter referred to as the said notice), a certain area in the Auckland Land District was declared a fire district under the said Act and named the "Whakatane Fire District":
And whereas Whakatane Paper Mills, Limited, for and on behalf of Timberlands Woodpulp Extended, Limited, has made application to me dated 15th day of November, 1946, to alter the boundaries of the Whakatane Fire District:
And whereas it is expedient to alter the boundaries of the Whakatane Fire District in accordance with the said application:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said Act, and on the recommendation of the Director of Forestry and of the Land Board of the Auckland Land District, I hereby revoke the said notice and declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a fire district to be known as the "Whakatane Fire District," for the period of five years from the date hereof (unless previously altered or revoked); and, with respect to the fire district constituted as aforesaid, I do further specify the period from the 1st day of October in any year to the 15th day of April in the following year, inclusive, as the period during which it shall not be lawful for any person, save pursuant to the written permit of a Forest Officer, to set on fire, or cause to be set on fire, any timber (whether standing or not), or any undergrowth, or any debris from forest operations or land-clearing operations, or any grass or other specially inflammable material without taking such precautions as may be prescribed by a Forest Officer.
SCHEDULE
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.-ROTORUA CONSERVANCY
Whakatane Fire District
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, Whakatane County, containing approximately 149,500 acres, situated in Rotoma, Rangitaiki Upper, Rangitaiki Lower, Galatea, and Ruawahia Survey Districts, and bounded generally as follows: Commencing at the junction of the Rotorua-Whakatane Road and the Te Teko-Galatea Road in Block X, Rangitaiki Upper Survey District; thence towards the east generally by the eastern side of the Te Teko-Galatea Road to the Kopuriki Stream; towards the south by the Kopuriki Stream to and across the Rangitaiki River; towards the east by the Rangitaiki River to the Pokairoa Stream; towards the south by the Pokairoa Stream and permanent State forest (Gazette, 1931, page 3412); towards the west by the western boundary of Whakatane County to and across the Rotorua-Whakatane Road; and towards the north by the northern side of the said Rotorua-Whakatane Road to its junction with the Galatea - Te Teko Road. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 39/4, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

WHEREAS by a notice published in the Gazette on the 9th day of November, 1922, at page 2960 (hereinafter referred to as the said notice), a certain area in the Auckland Land District was declared to be a fire district under section 27 of the Forests Act, 1921-22 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), and known as the "Whakarewarewa Fire District":
And whereas it is expedient to alter the boundaries of the said fire district:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said Act, and on the recommendation of the Director of Forestry and of the Land Board of the Auckland Land District, I hereby revoke the said notice, and do declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a fire district to be known as the "Whakarewarewa Fire District"; and, with respect to the fire district constituted as aforesaid, I do further specify the period from the 1st day of October in any year to the 15th day of April in the following year, inclusive, as the period during which it shall not be lawful for any person, save pursuant to the written permit of a Forest Officer, to set on fire or cause to be set on fire any timber, whether standing or not, or any undergrowth, or any debris from forest operations or land-clearing operations, or any grass or other specially inflammable material without taking such precautions as may be prescribed by a Forest Officer.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, Rotorua County, containing 38,400 acres, more or less, situated in Blocks I, II, III, V, VI, VII, IX, X, XI, XIII, and XIV, Tarawera Survey District, and Blocks VIII, XI, XII, XIV, and XV, Horohoro Survey District, and bounded generally as follows : Towards the north generally by the northern side of the Rotorua-Whakatane Road to its junction with the old Rotorua-Whakatane Road, by the north-western side of the last-mentioned road to the north-western corner of Owhatiura South No. 5 Block; thence by Owhatiura South B No. 6 Block, by a road forming the north-eastern boundary of Owhatiura South No. 5 Block, by Puketawhero A Block, Rotomahana-Parekarangi 4A No. 2 and 6B No. 2B Blocks; generally towards the east by Opakau Te Pukatu Block, by Section 2, Block III, Tarawera Survey District, by a public road along the shore of Okareka Lake to the north-western corner of Section 11, Block VII, Tarawera Survey District, by Sections 11 and 9, Block VII aforesaid, and by a public road to a point opposite the westernmost corner of Section 12, Block VII, Tarawera Survey District; thence by a right line across the aforesaid public road to the westernmost corner of Section 12 aforesaid; and thence by that section and part Section 1, Block VII, Tarawera Survey District, to the Wairoa Stream; towards the south-east by the Wairoa Stream and Run No. 78; towards the south generally by Rotomahana-Parekarangi 2E No. 2, 2E No. 3, and 2E No. 4 Blocks to the junction of the western boundary of the last-mentioned block with the north-eastern boundary of Rotomahana-Parekarangi 6A 2 No. 6B Block, thence by a right line to the north-eastern corner of Section 2, Block XIII, Tarawera Survey District; thence by Sections 2 and 1, Block XIII aforesaid, by Sections 3, 5, and 4, Block XV, Horohoro Survey District, and Sections 4 and 3, Block XIV, Horohoro Survey District; and towards the north-west by the Taupo-Rotorua State Highway, by Fenton and Maida Vale Streets in the Town of Rotorua; and by Sections 25, 24, and 23 of the Town of Rotorua to the Rotorua-Whakatane Road. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 38/60, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

PURSUANT to Regulation 5 : 1 of the Lemon Marketing Regulations 1940, I hereby fix the following prices per loose bushel to be paid by the Marketing Department for lemons delivered to the Department during the undermentioned period.
The prices of Preferred Commercial and Commercial Grades are fixed on a basic rate of 4s. 8d. per loose bushel.
