Notice to Persons affected by Applications for Licenses under Part III
of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1946

Pharmacy Industry

F. L. R. Purvis, 30 Rossiter Avenue, Lower Hutt, has applied
for a license to operate a new pharmacy in High Street, Lower
Hutt, near the Taita School.

Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit

A. G. Smith, 31 Beach Road, Ashburton, has applied for a
license to resell motor-spirit from two pumps to be installed on
proposed new service-station premises on the Main North Road at
Kaikoura.

W. A. Downing, Black’s Point, Reefton, has applied for a
license to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on hotel
premises at Black’s Point.

C. C. Hardy, Grey Street, Tauranga, has applied for permission
to change the site of his retail selling point from premises in Grey
Street to a new site approximately 50 yards distant in the same
street.

Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be
materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on
these applications should, not later than the 24th day of April, 1947,
submit any written evidence and representations they may desire
to tender. All communications should be addressed to the Acting-
Secretary, Bureau of Industry, C.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.

Rules of the Royal Society of New Zealand amended

IT is hereby notified that at a meeting of the Council of the Royal
Society of New Zealand held on the 22nd May, 1946, the
following additions were made to the Rules of the Royal Society
of New Zealand, published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 84 of
the 14th November, 1935 :—

“B. 12. (a) The President and Vice-President shall be elected
annually by ballot at the annual meeting of the society
from nominations as provided hereinafter. If there be
no valid nominations then the election shall be made by
resolution of the Council.

“(b) The Secretary of the Royal Society shall, before the 15th
February in each year, notify the secretaries of member
bodies of the rule calling for nominations for the offices
of President and Vice-President.

“(c) The Council of each member body may nominate one
member of the Royal Society for each of the offices of
President and Vice-President. Such nominations must
be accepted in writing by the nominee, and the nomina-
tions must be in the hands of the Secretary of the Royal
Society not later than the last day of March in each
year.

“(d) The Secretary shall, within three weeks of the last day of
receiving nominations, send a list of nominees to each
member body showing for each name the office or offices
for which he has been nominated and the name of the
nominating member body.

“(e) Any member of the Royal Society may be nominated for
both offices in the same year. No President or Vice-
President shall remain in office for more than two years
successively.”

PURSUANT to section 4 of the Native Land Amendment Act,
1936, the Board of Native Affairs hereby declares the land
described in the Schedule hereto to be subject to Part I of the said
Act, and to be included in the Taihape Development Scheme.

SCHEDULE

ALL that area of land in the Aotea Native Land Court District,
containing 429 acres 3 roods 28 perches, more or less, situate in
Block II, Hautapu Survey District, and called or known as
Awarua 4c 8a 1.

Releasing Land from the Provisions of Part I of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1936

PURSUANT to subsection (2) of section 4 of the Native Land
Amendment Act, 1936, the Board of Native Affairs hereby
revokes, so far as it affects the lands described in the Schedule
hereto, a certain notice dated the 17th day of October, 1938, and
published in Gazette No. 77 of the 20th day of the same month at
page 2260, whereby the said lands were declared to be subject to
Part I of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1936, and such lands
are hereby excluded from the Waikato Development Scheme.

THE following lands situate in the Waikato-Maniapoto Native
Land Court District :—

Revoking Timber Control Notice No. 50

NOTICE is hereby given that, in pursuance of the Supply Control
Emergency Regulations 1939, and the Timber Emergency
Regulations 1939, I, Alexander Robert Entrican, Timber Controller,
hereby revoke the Timber Control Notice No. 50* (which relates
to the disposal of Oregon or Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga taxifolia).

CROWN LANDS NOTICES

Town Land in Wellington Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease

District Lands and Survey Office,
Wellington, 3rd April, 1947.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is
open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act,
1924 ; and applications will be received at the District Lands and
Survey Office, Wellington, up till 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday,
26th May, 1947.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at the
District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, on Wednesday,
28th May, 1947, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable
to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any
Commissioner of Crown Lands.

The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the
examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required
to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the
first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and weighting
for improvements.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—TOWN LAND
Raetihi Borough.—Town of Raetihi

SECTION 133, Block XI: Area, 1 rood. Capital value, £25 ; half-
yearly rent, 12s. 6d.

Weighted with £5 (payable in cash) for improvements, com-
prising felling, stumping, and three chains of fencing.

This property is situated in Pitt Street, Raetihi, half a mile
from the post-office and school. This is a good quality level section,
with town water-supply available.

Any further information required may be obtained from the
undersigned.
