Officers authorized to take and receive Statutory Declarations

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the three-hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that the persons whose names are set out in the Schedule hereto, being officers in the service of the Crown holding the offices stated opposite their names respectively in the said Schedule, are authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under the three-hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927.

Appointing Two Non-elective Members of the Rangitikei Catchment Board

WHEREAS by a Warrant dated the eleventh day of April, one thousand nine hundred and forty-five, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 24 of the twelfth day of the same month, Gerald Hoyte Hocking, Esquire, B.Sc. (For.), Assistant Forester, State Forest Service, Palmerston North, and Charles John Hamblyn, Esquire, B.Agr.Sc., Fields Superintendent, Agriculture Department, Palmerston North, were appointed non-elective members of the Rangitikei Catchment Board, in terms of section forty-four of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act, 1941:
And whereas the said Gerald Hoyte Hocking and Charles John Hamblyn have resigned from membership of the Rangitikei Catchment Board, and it is considered expedient to appoint two other non-elective members in lieu of the said Gerald Hoyte Hocking and Charles John Hamblyn:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by section forty-four of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act, 1941, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby cancel the appointment of the said Gerald Hoyte Hocking and Charles John Hamblyn to be non-elective members of the Rangitikei Catchment Board, and do hereby appoint—
Alan Richard Dingwall, Esquire, B.Agr.Sc., Instructor in Agriculture, Agriculture Department, Ohakune, and
Frederick James Ranger, Esquire, Forest Ranger, State Forest Service, Palmerston North,
to be non-elective members of the Rangitikei Catchment Board for a term commencing on the eleventh day of April, one thousand nine hundred and forty-six, and terminating on the thirty-first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and forty-seven.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 4th day of April, 1946.

Land set apart in the Otago Land District as a Site for a Public School

WHEREAS by section thirty-three of the Education Reserves Act, 1928, it is enacted that the Governor-General may, on the recommendation of the Land Board of the district in which are situated any reserves or endowments vested in the Crown by or in pursuance of section two of the Education Reserves Amendment Act, 1910, or of section twenty-two of the first-mentioned Act, set apart as sites for public schools, secondary schools, or technical schools any part of such reserves or endowments:
And whereas the Land Board of the Otago Land District has duly passed a resolution recommending that the land described in the Schedule hereto should be set apart as a site for a public school, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation:
Now, therefore, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the Acts aforesaid, do hereby set apart the land described in the Schedule hereto as a site for a public school.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to accept the transfer of Commander Leo Patrick Bourke, D.S.C. and bar, R.D., from the Royal New Zealand Naval Reserve to the Royal New Zealand Navy, and to appoint him to a Short-service Commission with the rank of Commander, with seniority of 30th June, 1945, in the Royal New Zealand Navy, for a period of seven years, to date from 25th March, 1946, under the provisions of the Naval Defence Act, 1913.
