Arbor Day, 1945

IT is hereby notified that Wednesday, 1st August, 1945, is to be observed as Arbor Day, and, in view of the national importance of tree-planting, local bodies throughout New Zealand are requested to organize suitable celebrations on that date.

Where on account of local climatic conditions in any district the 1st August is deemed unsuitable, the local bodies affected are invited to observe some other suitable day in that month.

Notice of Intention to take Land in the City of Christchurch for Post and Telegraph Purposes (Postmaster’s Residence-site)

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a postmaster’s residence—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken : And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Addington and is there open for inspection ; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken :
31·5 perches.

Being Lot 1, D.P. 11786, part R.S. 17 (City of Christchurch).

In the Canterbury Land District ; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 121629, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Appointing the Time and the Place of the First Meeting of the Southland Catchment Board

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act, 1941, the Minister of Works doth hereby appoint Wednesday, the 11th day of July, 1945, at 10. 30 o’clock a.m., as the time, and the Southland County Council Chambers at Invercargill as the place, of the first meeting of the Southland Catchment Board.

The Overtime and Holidays Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1941, Variation No. 36

IN pursuance of the Labour Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Labour doth hereby order as follows :—

  1. This Order may be cited as the Overtime and Holidays Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1941, Variation No. 36.

  2. This Order shall be read together with and deemed part of the Overtime and Holidays Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1941 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Order).

  3. The principal Order is varied as follows, namely : ‘The provisions of the principal Order shall not apply to the workers coming within the scope of any of the awards specified in the following Schedule.

Exemption Order under the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940

PURSUANT to the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of Regulation 7 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors, shall not apply to the person hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply :—

A motor-driver’s license issued under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940 to the person described in Column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorize him to drive a heavy trade motor for the purpose of the business of the employer described in Column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorize him, while he is under the age of eighteen years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.

The Taumarunui Milk Delivery Notice 1944, Amendment No. 2

PURSUANT to the Delivery Emergency Regulations 1942,* the Minister of Transport doth hereby give notice as follows :—

  1. This notice may be cited as the Taumarunui Milk Delivery Notice 1944, Amendment No. 2, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Taumarunui Milk Delivery Notice 1944† (hereinafter referred to as the principal scheme).

  2. Clause (6) of the principal scheme as amended is hereby revoked, and the following clause substituted therefor :—

“ (6) Subject to the foregoing provisions of this scheme, the persons hereinafter described may deliver milk, wholesale or retail, to the areas allocated to them as follows and not otherwise :—
