the area to be added to the Waikohu County should be included in the Waipaoa, Mangatu, and Motu Ridings of that county:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred on me by the said Act, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the area described in the First Schedule hereto, being now part of the Opotiki County, shall be added to and form part of the Waikohu County; that the boundaries of the Waikohu and Opotiki Counties as so altered shall be those set forth under the respective headings in the Second Schedule hereto; that the area added as aforesaid to the Waikohu County shall be included in the Waipaoa, Mangatu, and Motu Ridings of that county; and that the boundaries of those ridings shall be those set forth in the Third Schedule hereto:

And I do also proclaim and declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on and from the first day of June, one thousand nine hundred and forty-five.

FIRST SCHEDULE

AREA EXCLUDED FROM THE COUNTY OF OPOTIKI AND INCLUDED IN THE COUNTY OF WAIKOHU

ALL that area in the Gisborne Land District, and bounded as follows: Commencing at the northernmost point of Motu No. 1 Block, Block II, Motu Survey District; thence in a north-westerly and north-easterly direction generally by the south-western and north-western boundaries of Whakapau-pakihi No. 2 and Sections 23 and 1 of 24, Block II, Motu Survey District, to a point on the southern boundary of Section 3, Block III, Urutawa East Survey District; thence in a westerly direction generally by the southern boundary of Section 3, Block III, Urutawa East Survey District, to the right bank of the Pakihi Stream; thence by the right bank of the said stream to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 4, Block III, Urutawa East Survey District; thence across a road reserve to the northernmost corner of Section 4, Block III, Urutawa East Survey District; thence in an easterly direction generally by the northern boundary of Sections 4, 6, and 5, Block III, Urutawa East Survey District, to a public road; thence due north by the western boundary of said public road and Section 3, Block I, Urutawa East Survey District, to the north-west corner of said Section 3; thence due east by the northern boundary of Section 3 aforesaid to and across a public road to its eastern side; thence in a northerly direction by the eastern side of said road to the north-western corner of Section 2, Block II, Urutawa East Survey District; thence by the north-western boundary of Section 2 aforesaid to and across a public road to the south-western corner of Section 5, Block VIII, Urutawa Survey District; thence in an easterly direction generally by a public road and the north-eastern boundary of Section 3, Block VIII, Urutawa Survey District, to a point on the western boundary of Section 1, Block V, Otipi Survey District; thence in a northerly direction by the western boundary of said Section 1 to its north-western corner; thence in a north-easterly direction generally by the north-western boundary of Sections 1, Block V, and 2, Block VI, Otipi Survey District, to and across a road reserve, and thence across the Motu River to the right bank thereof; thence down the right bank of the Motu River to its intersection with the northern boundary of Lot 8 (D.P. 2480), Block IX, Maungawaru Survey District; thence in a south-easterly direction generally by the north-eastern boundary of Lots 8 (D.P. 2480), 7 and 6 (D.P. 2479), 3 (D.P. 2395), and 2 (D.P. 2394), Blocks IX, X, XIV, and XV, Maungawaru Survey District, and III and IV, Arowhana Survey District, to the intersection of the north-eastern boundary of Lot 2 (D.P. 2394) with the north-western boundary of Waipaoa 1E Block, Block IV, Arowhana Survey District; thence in a north-easterly direction by the north-western boundary of Waipaoa 1E Block, and in a south-easterly direction by the north-eastern boundary of Waipaoa 1E Block to its intersection with a right line through Trig. Stations 139 and Arowhana; thence in a north-easterly direction to Arowhana Trig. Station; thence along a right line in the direction of Kapua Trig. Station to its intersection with the western boundary of Huiarua No. 3 Block; thence by the western and southern boundaries of that block to the boundary of the Uawa County; thence along the western boundary of the Uawa County, as described in the New Zealand Gazette, 1920, page 2787, to the southernmost point of Small Grazing-run 42, Block XII, Waingaromia Survey District; thence along the western and north-western boundaries of the Cook County, as described in the New Zealand Gazette, 1919, page 1243, to the north-eastern corner of Section 1, Block VIII, Tuahu Survey District; thence along the northern boundary of that section, across the Mangatahae Stream, along the eastern boundary of Lot 21 of Tahoma 2F Section 2 Block, the eastern and northern boundaries of Lot 24 of Tahoma 2C 1 Section 3 Block, the northern boundary of Lot 23, same block, the northern and western boundaries of Lot 18 of Tahoma 2F Section 2 Block, and the production of the last-named boundary to its intersection with a right line between Puketapu Trig. Station and Maungapohatu Trig. Station; thence north-westerly to Maungapohatu Trig. Station; thence north-easterly along a direct line to Maungatapere Trig. Station to its intersection with the western boundary of Tahoma Block; thence northerly along that boundary to a point in line with the northern boundary of Small Grazing-run 89; thence to and along that boundary, the northern boundaries of Small Grazing-run 90, Sections 2 and 3, Block XII, Moanui Survey District, Sections 4, 1, and 2, Block IX, Motu Survey District, and Section 2, Block V, Motu Survey District, to Pokaikiri Trig. Station; thence along a right line to Trig. Station 149A; thence by a right line to the northernmost corner of Motu No. 1 Block, Block II, Motu Survey District, being the point of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE

WAIKOHU COUNTY

ALL that area in the Gisborne Land District, and bounded as follows: Commencing at the northernmost point of Motu No. 1 Block, Block II, Motu Survey District; thence in a north-westerly and north-easterly direction generally by the south-western and north-western boundaries of Whakapau-pakihi No. 2 and Sections 23 and 1 of 24, Block II, Motu Survey District, to a point on the southern boundary of Section 3, Block III, Urutawa East Survey District; thence in a westerly direction generally by the southern boundary of Section 3, Block III, Urutawa East Survey District, to the right bank of the Pakihi Stream; thence by the right bank of the said stream to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 4, Block III, Urutawa East Survey District; thence across a road reserve to the northernmost corner of Section 4, Block III, Urutawa East Survey District; thence in an easterly direction generally by the northern boundary of Sections 4, 6, and 5, Block III, Urutawa East Survey District, to a public road, and thence due north by the western boundary of said public road and Section 3, Block I, Urutawa East Survey District, to the north-west corner of said Section 3; thence due east by the northern boundary of Section 3 aforesaid to and across a public road to its eastern side; thence in a northerly direction by the eastern side of said road to the north-western corner of Section 2, Block II, Urutawa East Survey District; thence by the north-western boundary of Section 2 aforesaid to and across a public road to the south-western corner of Section 5, Block VIII, Urutawa Survey District; thence in an easterly direction generally by a public road and the north-eastern boundary of Section 3, Block VIII, Urutawa Survey District, to a point on the western boundary of Section 1, Block V, Otipi Survey District; thence in a northerly direction by the western boundary of said Section 1 to its north-western corner; thence in a north-easterly direction generally by the north-western boundary of Sections 1, Block V, and 2, Block VI, Otipi Survey District, to and across a road reserve, and thence across the Motu River to the right bank thereof; thence down the right bank of the Motu River to its intersection with the northern boundary of Lot 8 (D.P. 2480), Block IX, Maungawaru Survey District; thence in a south-easterly direction generally by the north-eastern boundary of Lots 8 (D.P. 2480), 7 and 6 (D.P. 2479), 3 (D.P. 2395), and 2 (D.P. 2394), Blocks IX, X, XIV, and XV, Maungawaru Survey District, and III and IV, Arowhana Survey District, to the intersection of the north-eastern boundary of Lot 2 (D.P. 2394) with the north-western boundary of Waipaoa 1E Block, Block IV, Arowhana Survey District; thence in a north-easterly direction by the north-western boundary of Waipaoa 1E Block; and thence in a south-easterly direction by the north-eastern boundary of Waipaoa 1E Block to the boundary of the Waikohu County; thence along the north-western boundary of the Waikohu County, as described in the New Zealand Gazette, 1920, page 2787, to the point of commencement.

OPOTIKI COUNTY

All that area in the Gisborne and Auckland Land Districts, and bounded as follows: Commencing at a point on high-water mark of the sea, near the eastern end of Ohope Beach, in Block III, Whakatane Survey District, being the north-western corner of Lot 140 (Recreation Reserve) on D.P. 22193 (Auckland Registry); thence towards the north and north-west by high-water mark, Bay of Plenty, to the south-western corner of Whangaparaoa No. 1A Block; thence towards the north-east by Whangaparaoa Nos. 1A and 1B Blocks and the Mangapouri Stream to Whangaparaoa No. 3A Block; thence towards the east generally by Whangaparaoa No. 3A and Waikura No. 2 Blocks to the south-western corner of the last-mentioned block; thence towards the south-east generally by a right line to Whanakao Trig. Station; thence by a right line to Kapua Trig. Station; thence to Arowhana Trig. Station; thence towards the south-east generally by the boundary of the Waikohu County, as described in the Second Schedule hereinbefore mentioned, to Maungapohatu Trig. Station; thence towards the west generally by the Whakatane County, as described in the New Zealand Gazette, 1940, page 2781, to the point of commencement.

THIRD SCHEDULE

WAIPAOA RIDING, WAIKOHU COUNTY

ALL that area in the Gisborne Land District, bounded by a line commencing at the junction of the Waipaoa and Waikohu Rivers; thence bounded on the south generally by the Waikohu River to the centre of the Waikohu Bridge on the Puha–Whatatutu Road; thence on the west generally by the centre-line of the said Puha–Whatatutu Road to its junction with the Mangatu Road; thence by the centre-line of the Mangatu main road to its junction with the Armstrong Road; thence on the west generally by the centre-line of the Armstrong Road to its junction with the Tarndale Road, being access road to Lot 18 of Mangatu No. 1; thence by the
