and recorded in 41 Book of Awards 133, nor to the workers coming
within the scope of any of the awards or the agreement specified in
the following Schedule, with the exception of those workers who are
employed in an industry to which the principal Order applies.

Lynn Laces, Ltd., Employees’ Labour Legislation Suspension
Order 1945

IN pursuance of the Labour Legislation Emergency Regulations
1940, the Minister of Labour doth hereby order as follows:—

  1. This Order may be cited as the “Lynn Laces, Ltd., Employees’ Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1945.”
  2. This Order shall apply to Lynn Laces, Ltd., Auckland, and
    to not more than six female workers over twenty-one years of age
    employed by that company in the manufacture of shoe and other
    classes of laces whose employment is subject to the provisions of
    Lynn Laces, Auckland, Factory Employees’ industrial agreement
    dated the 12th day of June, 1944, and recorded in 44 Book of Awards
  3. The provisions of the Factories Act, 1921–22, and its amendments, and of the said agreement, are hereby suspended in so far
    as any such provisions operate to prevent the workers referred to
    in clause 2 hereof from being employed on shift-work, but such
    suspension shall be subject to the terms and conditions hereinafter
    set forth.
  4. Two shifts may be worked—a day shift from 7 a.m. to
    3 p.m. and a night shift from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  5. In the case of all shift-workers a meal interval of half an
    hour shall be allowed and paid for, and workers on the night shift
    shall also be paid a shift-allowance of 1s. 6d. a shift for each shift
    worked.
  6. This Order shall come into effect on the day of the date
    hereof.

The Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendments.—
Prohibiting the Sale within the Borough of Petone of certain
Goods comprised in the Trade of a Fruiterer

WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the
occupiers of all the fruiterers’ shops within the Borough
of Petone, has been forwarded to the Minister of Labour desiring
that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a fruiterer—
namely, fresh fruit and vegetables—be prohibited during such time
as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops
and Offices Act, 1921–22 :
And whereas he is satisfied that the sale of the said goods is
comprised in the said trade within the said borough, and that the
signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers
of all the said shops within the said borough :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, the
Minister of Labour doth hereby direct that on and after the 23rd
day of April, 1945, the sale of the said goods within the said borough
shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows : On Mondays, Tuesdays,
Wednesdays, and Thursdays after the hour of 6.30 p.m., and on
Fridays and Saturdays after the hour of 9 p.m., with the following
exception—on the evening of the working-day immediately preceding
each of the following days, viz., New Year’s Day, Good Friday,
Sovereign’s Birthday, Labour Day, Anzac Day, and Christmas Day,
the sale of the said goods is not prohibited.
The notice gazetted on the 30th March, 1933,* prohibiting the
sale within the Borough of Petone of certain goods comprised in
the trade of a fruiterer shall be and is hereby cancelled as from
the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

the Closing-hours of Fruiterers’ Shops within the Combined
District of Petone and Lower Hutt

WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to the
Minister of Labour from the occupiers of fruiterers’ shops
within the Combined District of Petone and Lower Hutt, pursuant
to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :
And whereas he is satisfied that the signatures to such
requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said
shops within the said combined district :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, the Minister
of Labour doth hereby direct that on and after the 23rd day of
April, 1945, all the said shops within the said combined district
shall be closed on the evening of working-days as follows : On
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 6.30 p.m., and
on Fridays and Saturdays at 9 p.m., with the following exception—
on the evening of the working-day immediately preceding each of
the following days, viz., New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Sovereign’s
Birthday, Labour Day, Anzac Day, and Christmas Day, there shall
be no fixed closing-hour.
The notice gazetted on the 30th March, 1933,
fixing the closing-hours of fruiterers’ shops in the Combined District of Petone and
Lower Hutt shall be and is hereby cancelled as from the date of the
coming into operation of this notice.

The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice
declaring Land taken for the Settlement of a Discharged
Serviceman

WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of
the Land Sales Court to a transaction which relates to the
land described in the Schedule hereto and to which Part III of
the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, applies :
And whereas the Land Sales Committee to which the application has been referred is of opinion that the land to which the
application relates is farm land suitable or adaptable for the
settlement of a discharged serviceman :
And whereas the said committee, not being satisfied that the
Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition
of the land, did on the 1st day of March, 1945, make an order
determining the basic value of the land and no appeal from the
said order was made within the time prescribed by the said Act
or within any further time allowed by the Court :
And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman
who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of
His Majesty’s Forces or in any British ship :
Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance
of section 51 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the said land
is taken for the settlement of a discharged serviceman, and hereby
specifies the 1st day of June, 1945, as the date on which the said
land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT

ALL those parcels of land containing sixty-six (66) acres and thirty-four (34) perches, more or less, being Sections 302 and 303, Parish
of Taupiri, and being all the land comprised in certificates of title,
Vol. 567, folio 286, and Vol. 493, folio 169 (Auckland Registry).
As witness my hand, this 3rd day of April, 1945.
