THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointments in the Public Service :—
Cecil Hector Watson Larsen
to be a Judge of the Native Land Court of the Cook Islands for the purposes of the Cook Islands Act, 1915, on and from the 1st day of December, 1944.
Donald Frederick Nelson, B.Sc.,
to be an Analyst for the purposes of the Sale of Food and Drugs Act, 1908, on and from the 21st day of March, 1945.
George Leeson Pacey
to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Meat Act, 1939, on and from the 30th day of November, 1944.
John Bird Wright
to be an Inspector for the purposes of section 5 of the Land and Income Tax Act, 1923, on and from the 20th day of March, 1945.
Wray Mealing
to be a District Registrar of Apprentices for the purposes of the Apprentices Act, 1923, on and from the 28th day of February, 1945.
Arthur Albert Kent
to be an Inspector of Factories for the purposes of the Factories Act, 1921–22, on and from the 5th day of March, 1945.
Alexander William McDonald
to be a Registrar of Electors and Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Hutt for the purposes of the Electoral Act, 1927, and its amendments, and Returning Officer for the Hutt Licensing District for the purposes of the Licensing Act, 1908, and its amendments, on and from the 15th day of January, 1945.

to be Registrar of Marriages for the District of Levin for the purposes of the Marriage Act, 1908, Registrar of Births and Deaths for the District of Levin for the purposes of the Births and Deaths Registration Act, 1924, and Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Levin for the purposes of the Maori Births and Deaths Registration Regulations 1935, on and from the 1st day of April, 1945.
Raymond William Hope
to be District Public Trustee for the District of Hastings for the purposes of the Public Trust Office Amendment Act, 1921–22, on and from the 12th day of March, 1945.
Roy William Stephen Cavanagh
to be a Ranger for the purposes of the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, for the Whangarei Acclimatization District, on and from the 23rd day of March, 1945.
Ella Catherine Lee (Miss)
to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Matata, on and from the 8th day of March, 1945.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block VIII, Punakitere Survey District, for a Native School
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a Native school—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken : And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Kaikohe and is there open for inspection ; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken : 4 acres. Being part Motatau 5E 10B Block.
Situated in Block VIII, Punakitere Survey District (Auckland R.D.). (S.O. 33369.)
In the North Auckland Land District ; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 121065, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured yellow.

Notice revoking Declaration that “Jehovah’s Witnesses” and other Organizations are Subversive
PURSUANT to the Public Safety Emergency Regulations 1940, I, Henry Greathead Rex Mason, His Majesty’s Attorney-General, do hereby revoke—
(a) The notice dated the 21st day of October, 1940, and published in the Gazette on the 24th day of the same month at page 2752, declaring the organization known as “Jehovah’s Witnesses” and certain other organizations to be subversive organizations for the purposes of the Public Safety Emergency Regulations 1940 ; and
(b) The notice dated the 8th day of May, 1941, and published in the Gazette on the same day at page 1298, approving certain activities of the said organizations.
Dated at Wellington, this 27th day of March, 1945.

The Overtime and Holidays Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1941, Variation No. 33
IN pursuance of the Labour Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Labour doth hereby order as follows :—

This Order may be cited as the Overtime and Holidays Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1941, Variation No. 33.

This Order shall be read together with and deemed part of the Overtime and Holidays Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1941 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Order”).

The principal Order is varied as follows, namely : The provisions of the principal Order shall not apply to the workers coming within the scope of any of the awards or agreement specified in the following Schedule, with the exception of those workers who are employed in an industry to which the principal Order applies.
