Appointment of Member of Board of Appeal for the Purposes of the Public Service Amendment Act, 1927

Clarence James Playne
to be a member of the Board of Appeal for the purposes of the Public Service Amendment Act, 1927, such appointment to be for a period of three years, on and from the 1st day of January, 1945.

Permission granted by His Majesty the King for the wearing of a Netherlands Decoration
Department of Internal Affairs,

HIS Excellency the Governor-General directs it to be notified that His Majesty the King has been pleased to grant Claude W. Heather, Esquire, of Auckland, full and unrestricted permission to wear the decoration of Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau which has been conferred by Her Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block III, Waiau Survey District, for a Native School
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a Native school—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Tuai and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

Authorizing the Laying-off of Roads of less Width than 66 ft.
WHEREAS in the opinion of the Minister of Lands it is inexpedient, by reason of the fact that the land shown upon the plan of Town of Maitlands Extension No. 4 affecting Sections 45, 45A, and 47, Suburban South, situated in Block IV, Waimea Survey District, Nelson Land District, is intended to be used wholly for residential purposes, that the new roads shown thereon should be of the width of 66 ft.:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the power conferred upon him by section 17, subsection (1), of the Land Act, 1924, and of every other power him thereunto enabling, the Minister of Lands doth hereby authorize the laying-off of the said new roads of a width of not less than 50 ft.: Provided always that it shall not be lawful for any person to erect or cause to be erected any building at a less distance than 33 ft. from the middle of such roads.
Given under the hand of the Minister of Lands, this 20th day of December, 1944.

The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice declaring Land taken for the Settlement of a Discharged Serviceman
WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of the Land Sales Court to a transaction which relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto and to which Part III of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, applies:
And whereas the Land Sales Committee to which the application has been referred is of opinion that the land to which the application relates is farm land suitable or adaptable for the settlement of a discharged serviceman:
And whereas the said committee, not being satisfied that the Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of the land, did on the 29th day of November, 1944, make an order determining the basic value of the land and no appeal from the said order was made within the time prescribed by the said Act or within any further time allowed by the Court:
And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty’s Forces or in any British ship:
Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 51 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of a discharged serviceman, and hereby specifies the 1st day of March, 1945, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT
ALL that piece or parcel of land containing 186 acres 36 perches, more or less, situated in the Provincial District of Auckland, being all the land on a plan deposited in the Land Transfer Office at Auckland under No. 28733, being part Lot 1, Deposited Plan No. 6958, being portion Maungaotupua Block, Maungakawa Survey District, and being part of the land contained and comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 228, folio 286 (Auckland Registry).

The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice of Intention to take Land
I, CLARENCE FARRINGDON SKINNER, Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 24 of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, hereby give notice of my intention to take the lands described in the Schedule hereto under Part II of the said Act.
I specify the 31st day of March, 1945, as the date on which possession of the lands is required, and the 15th day of February, 1945, as the date on or before which objections may be made under section 25 of the said Act.
SCHEDULE
ALL those parcels of land situated in Blocks III and IV, Opotiki Survey District, containing four hundred and ninety-five (495) acres one (1) rood and twenty-eight (28) perches, more or less, being Lot 2 on Deposited Plan No. 12259, and Lots 1 and 2 on Deposited Plan No. 16976, being portions of Allotments 206, 207, 208, 209, and 210, Allotments 198, 199, 200, 201, 202, 203, 203A, 204, 205, and 211, all of Parish of Waioeka, and being all the land comprised in certificates of title, Vol. 66, folios 25 and 47, Vol. 67, folios 36, 89, 123, and 287, Vol. 69, folio 162, Vol. 71, folios 10 and 11, Vol. 73, folio 137 (Gisborne Registry).
