Establishment of an Institution under the Child Welfare Act, 1925

Wellington, 20th July, 1944.

BY virtue of the power vested in me by section 7 of the Child Welfare Act, 1925, I, Henry Greathead Rex Mason, Minister of Education, do hereby declare that I have established at Featherston an institution under the said Act known as Fareham House.

Industrial Man-power Emergency Regulations 1944.—Declaration of Essential Undertaking No. 151

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by Regulation 11 and Regulation 17 of the Industrial Man-power Emergency Regulations 1944, the Minister of Industrial Man-power doth hereby declare to be an essential undertaking for the purposes of those regulations the following undertaking, namely :—

The Service of the Government in respect only of persons, other than members of the Civil Nursing Reserve, engaged for salary or wages by the General Manager of the New Zealand Government Railways, or by the Director-General of the Post and Telegraph Department, or by the Public Service Commissioner, or by any departmental officer authorized to engage persons in terms of Regulation 150 of the General Regulations made by the Public Service Commissioner, and in respect also of persons engaged for salary or wages as employees in the Legislative Departments.

(This declaration includes all persons employed in manufacturing, farming, vegetable-growing, and other industrial activities carried out by Government Departments being persons engaged as above, but does not apply to contractors or subcontractors carrying out work on behalf of Government Departments or to persons employed by such contractors or subcontractors.)

For the purposes of this declaration the Service of the Government as defined herein constitutes a single undertaking.

Industrial Man-power Emergency Regulations 1944.—Amendment to Declaration of Essential Industry No. 120

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by Regulation 11 of the Industrial Man-power Emergency Regulations 1944, the Minister of Industrial Man-power doth hereby amend the Declaration of Essential Industry No. 120 by deleting therefrom the words—

“the operations of all workers coming within the scope of the New Zealand Motor Mechanics’ award”,

and by substituting therefor the words—

“the operations of all workers coming within the scope of the New Zealand Motor Trade Employees’ award”.

The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice declaring Land taken for the Settlement of a Discharged Serviceman

WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of the Land Sales Court to a transaction which relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto and to which Part III of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, applies :

And whereas the Land Sales Committee to which the application has been referred is of opinion that the land to which the application relates is farm land adaptable for the settlement of a discharged serviceman :

And whereas the said committee, not being satisfied that the Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of the land, did on the 6th day of April, 1944, make an order determining the basic value of the land :

And whereas an appeal from the said Order was made within the time prescribed by the said Act :

And whereas the Land Sales Court did on the 25th day of July, 1944, make an order determining the basic value of the land :

And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty’s Forces or in any British ship :

Now, therefore, I, Clarence Farrington Skinner, Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 51 of the said Act, do hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of a discharged serviceman, and I hereby specify the 21st day of August, 1944, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.


SCHEDULE

ALL those parcels of land containing ninety-one (91) acres one (1) rood and nine and four-tenths (9·4) perches, more or less, being parts of Lots 44 and 46 on Deposited Plan No. 7811, being part of Kaihu No. 2B Block, situated in Blocks IX and XIII, Maungaru Survey District, and being the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 285, folio 250 (Auckland Registry).
