(2) For the purposes of assisting in the administration of this
scheme there shall be a committee, which shall consist of the
following members :—
(a) Two members to be appointed by the Mataura Borough
Council :
(b) One member to be appointed by the parties to this scheme :
(c) The Controller of Oil Fuel, Mataura.
(3) On the death or resignation of any member of the committee,
the vacancy created thereby shall be filled by appointment in the
manner in which the vacating member was appointed.
(4) The functions of the committee shall be to receive and
investigate complaints affecting the administration of this scheme,
to advise the Minister on any matters that may be referred to the
committee by the Minister or that may be considered by it of its
own motion, and to make recommendations to the Minister for
amending this scheme.
(5) Subject to the foregoing provisions of this scheme, the
committee may regulate its procedure in such manner as it thinks fit.
(6) The names of the vendors who are parties to this scheme
and the areas in which they may deliver milk are as follows :—

Name. Area.
The firm known as Mataura Milk Supply Milk Sales (Retail), Ltd. All that area of Mataura Borough which is west of the Mataura River. All that area of Mataura Borough which is east of the Mataura River.

The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice declaring Land taken for the Settlement of a Discharged Serviceman


WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of
the Land Sales Court to a transaction which relates to
the land described in the Schedule hereto and to which Part III
of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, applies :
And whereas the Land Sales Committee to which the appli-
cation has been referred is of opinion that the land to which the
application relates is farm land suitable or adaptable for the settle-
ment of a discharged serviceman :
And whereas the said committee, not being satisfied that the
Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition
of the land, did on the 17th day of June, 1944, make an order
determining the basic value of the land and no appeal from the said
order was made within the time prescribed by the said Act or within
any further time allowed by the Court :
And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman
who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of
His Majesty’s Forces or in any British ship :
Now, therefore, I, Clarence Farrington Skinner, Minister of
Lands, acting in pursuance of section 51 of the said Act, do hereby
declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of a discharged
serviceman, and I hereby specify the 31st day of July, 1944, as
the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in
His Majesty the King.


SCHEDULE

ALL those parcels of land containing one hundred and ten (110)
acres one (1) rood thirty-nine and six-tenths (39·6) perches, more
or less, being Allotments 307, 308, part of Allotment 579, and part
of Section 465, Parish of Taupiri, and being the whole of the land
comprised and described in certificates of title, Vol. 1, folio 105,
Vol. 693, folio 19, Vol. 698, folio 343, Vol. 207, folio 126 (Auckland
Registry).

As witness my hand, this 7th day of July, 1944.

Poukawa Drainage Area.—Notice of Intention to make and levy General Rates


Department of Lands and Survey,
Wellington, 11th July, 1944.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended, pursuant to the
Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, to make
and levy on the unimproved value of all land within the Poukawa
Drainage Area, the general rates described in the Schedule hereto,
such rates being for the purpose of covering for the period from the
1st day of April, 1944, to the 31st day of March, 1945, the cost of
administration of the said Act, including the maintenance of works
constructed under that Act in the said area.
The amount of the general rates will be payable in one sum on
the 30th day of August, 1944, together with the annually recurring
special rates already made and levied.
The valuation roll and rate-book of the area are open for
inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage
Engineer’s Office, Government Buildings, Customs Street West,
Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at the office of the
Commissioner of Crown Lands, Post-office Building, Napier, at all
times at which those offices are open for the transaction of public
business.

Class B, one penny and sixty-six one-hundredths of a penny
(1·66d.) in the pound.
Class C.—On the unimproved value of all land so classified as
Class C, thirty-three one-hundredths of a penny (0·33d.) in the
pound.

Kaitaia Drainage Area.—Notice of Intention to make and levy General Rates

NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended, pursuant to the
Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, to make and
levy, on the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town
District Subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area constituted under
the said Act, the general rate described in the First Schedule hereto,
and on the unimproved value of all land in the subdivision of the
Kaitaia Drainage Area outside the Kaitaia Town District the general
rates described in the Second Schedule, such respective rates being
for the purpose of meeting maintenance-costs for the period from
the 1st April, 1944, to the 31st March, 1945.
The amount of the general rates, together with the annually
recurring special rates already made and levied, will be payable in
one sum on the 30th August, 1944.
The valuation roll of the area will be available for inspection
at the office of the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage Engineer’s
Office, Room 45, First Floor, Government Buildings, Customs
Street West, Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at the
office of the Chief Drainage Engineer, Kaitaia, at all times at which
those offices are open for the transaction of public business.

General Rate

On the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town
District, sixty-six one-hundredths of a penny (0·66d.) in the
pound.

RURAL SUBDIVISION

General Rate

Class A.—On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class A
by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of
the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928, eighteen-pence
and fifty-three one-hundredths of a penny (18·53d.) in the pound.
Class B.—On the unimproved value of all land so classified as
Class B, sixpence and forty-nine one-hundredths of a penny
(6·49d.) in the pound.
Class C.—On the unimproved value of all land so classified as
Class C, twopence and seventy-eight one-hundredths of a penny
(2·78d.) in the pound.

Hauraki Plains Act, 1926, to make and levy, on the unim-
proved value of all land within the district constituted under the
said Act, the general rates to meet maintenance-costs for the period
1st April, 1944, to 31st March, 1945, as described in the Schedule
hereto.
The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on the
30th August, 1944.
The valuation roll of the district is open for inspection at the
office of the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage Engineer’s Office,
Room 45, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland,
and a copy of same may be inspected at the office of the Land
Drainage Engineer, at Kerepeehi, at all times at which those offices
are open for the transaction of public business.


SCHEDULE

Class A.—On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A
by the appraiser appointed under the said Act, sevenpence
and fifty-seven one-hundredths of a penny (7·57d.) in the
pound.
Class B.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as
Class B, fourpence and thirty-three one-hundredths of a penny
(4·33d.) in the pound.
Class C.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as
Class C, one-penny and eight one-hundredths of a penny (1·08d.)
in the pound.
