MEDICAL REGISTRATION
I. WILLIAM LAWRENCE DONOHUE, M.R.C.S. (Eng.),
L.R.C.P. (Lond.), now residing in Auckland, hereby give
notice that I intend applying on the 22nd July, 1944, to have my
named placed on the Medical Register of the Dominion of New
Zealand; and that I have deposited the evidence of my qualification
in the office of the Department of Health at Wellington.

STATUTORY CLOSING-DAY
PURSUANT to a requisition under the provisions of the Shops
and Offices Act, 1921-22, and the Local Election and Polls
Act, 1908, and amendments, and signed by not less than one-tenth
of the total number of electors of the Bulls Town District and
presented to this Board on the 24th day of April, 1944, a poll of the
electors was held on the 27th day of May, 1944, for the purpose of
deciding which working-day in the week should be the closing
holiday for shops in the Town District of Bulls.

NOTICE OF CASUAL VACANCY
NOTICE is hereby given, pursuant to section 26 of the Bank of
New Zealand Act, 1926, that by reason of the death of Mr.
Arthur Emerson Mabin, one of the Directors of the Bank of New
Zealand elected by the proprietors, a casual vacancy has arisen.
Candidates for the office so vacated must give notice of
candidature to the Board in writing, to be left at the Banking House
of the Bank in Wellington not later than sixty days after the
publication of this notice.

Zealand made on the 31st day of May, 1944, confirming the reduction
of the capital of the Ashburton Transport Company, Limited, to
£75, together with a minute (approved by the Court) showing the
amount of the capital of the company as altered by the Order, the
number of shares into which it is divided, and the amount of each
share, was duly registered in pursuance of section 70 of the Companies
Act, 1933, on the 7th day of June, 1944.

CHANGE OF NAME OF COMPANY
NOTICE is hereby given that EDEN GAZETTE, LIMITED, has

COOK COUNTY COUNCIL
SPECIAL RESOLUTION
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf
by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, the Cook County Council
hereby resolves as follows:—
"That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other
charges on a loan of £780, authorized to be raised by the Cook County
Council under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of repaying
the balance of the Spence and Mossman's Bridges Loan, 1929, the
said Cook County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate
of 2¼d. (twopence and thirty-one thirty-seconds of one penny in the
pound) upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Spence
and Mossman's Bridges Special Rating District, comprising Lot 1,
S.G.R. 32, Blocks VI and X, Hangaroa Survey District, and part
Lot 2, S.G.R. 41, Block X, Hangaroa Survey District; and that
such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency
of such loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day of July in each and
every year during a period equal to the currency of such loan, being
a period of ten years or until the loan is fully paid off. The rate of
interest to be 3½ per cent."
The above resolution was passed by the Cook County Council
on the 19th day of April, 1944.

of the County of Cook was hereto affixed in the presence of—

TIMARU BOROUGH COUNCIL
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND
In the matter of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, and the
Public Works Act, 1928.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Timaru Borough Council
proposes, under the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts,
to execute a certain public work—namely, the construction of a
street in the Borough of Timaru and the erection of houses fronting
such street—and for the purpose of such public work the lands
described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken: And
notice is hereby further given that a plan of the lands so required
to be taken is deposited in the Public Office of the Town Clerk to the
said Council, situate in King George's Place, and is open for
inspection, without fee, by all persons during ordinary office hours.
All persons affected by the execution of the said public work
or by the taking of such land who have any well-grounded objections
to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of the said
lands must state their objections in writing, and send the same,
within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the
Town Clerk at the Council Chambers, King George's Place.
SCHEDULE
ALL that area of land situated in the Borough of Timaru containing
approximately 1 rood 27 perches, being part Lot 4, D.P. 11637,
Borough of Timaru, being more particularly as shown red on the
map in the Town Clerk's office.
