Notice of Intention to take Land for Public Works
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, in terms of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for public works : And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so proposed to be taken is deposited in the Post-office at Taneatua, and is there open for inspection ; and that all persons affected by the taking of such land should, if they have any well-grounded objection to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the 4th day of July, 1944, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

Appointing the Time and Place of the First Meeting of the Hawke's Bay Catchment Board
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act, 1941, the Minister of Works doth hereby appoint Wednesday, the 12th day of July, 1944, at 10 o'clock, a.m., as the time, and the Hawke's Bay County Council Chambers, at Napier, as the place, for holding the first meeting of the Hawke's Bay Catchment Board. IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act, 1941, the Minister of Works doth hereby appoint Tuesday, the 11th day of July, 1944, at 2 o'clock p.m. as the time, and the City Council Chambers at Palmerston North as the place, for holding the first meeting of the Manawatu Catchment Board. Registered Medical Practitioner prohibited from dealing in or issuing Prescriptions for Dangerous Drugs
PURSUANT to the provisions of the Dangerous Drugs Regulations 1928, I, Arnold Henry Nordmeyer, Minister of Health, being satisfied that Robert Frescheville Bakewell, a registered medical practitioner, has committed a breach of the terms of the license deemed to be held by him under the said regulations, and acting on the recommendation of the Medical Council, do hereby revoke the license deemed to be held by the said Robert Frescheville Bakewell under the said regulations, and do hereby prohibit the said Robert Frescheville Bakewell from issuing prescriptions for the dispensing of dangerous drugs. The Timaru Milling Company, Limited (Macaroni Factory), Employees' Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1944
IN pursuance of the Labour Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Labour doth hereby order as follows :- 1. This Order may be cited as the Timaru Milling Company, Limited (Macaroni Factory), Employees' Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1944. 2. This Order applies to workers employed by the Timaru Milling Company, Limited, in the factory for the manufacture of macaroni and spaghetti, and to the employers of such workers. 3. The provisions of all acts and all regulations thereunder and all other voluntary agreements affecting conditions of employment shall be and are hereby suspended in so far as they operate to restrict or prevent the employment of female workers and boys on shift work, subject, however, to the terms and conditions hereinafter set forth. 4. A night-shift of eight hours may be worked on Mondays to Fridays inclusive, provided that such shift shall terminate not later than 10 p.m. "Night shift" means a shift worked between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. 5. Further, it is provided that a day shift be worked commencing not earlier than 7 a.m. and terminating not later than 3 p.m. 6. It is further agreed that three-quarters (3) of an hour be allowed for a meal on the night shift, to be taken between the hours of 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., and such meal in the day shift to be taken between the hours of 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. 7. Females under sixteen years of age or youths under sixteen years of age shall not be employed on the night shift. 8. No overtime shall be worked by workers employed on the night shift except in case of emergency, when such overtime shall be paid for as prescribed by the Factories Act, 1921-22, and its amendments. 9. Females and youths employed on the night shift shall receive, in addition to their ordinary wages, the sum of 3s. per shift. 10. Any of the above conditions may be varied to meet local requirements by mutual agreement of the local union and the employer concerned. 11. This Order shall come into effect on and from the day of the date hereof. Dated at Wellington, this 27th day of June, 1944. P. C. WEBB, Minister of Labour.
The Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, and its Amendments.-Fixing the Closing-hours of Fruiterers' Shops within the Borough of Hastings
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all fruiterers' shops within the Borough of Hastings, has been forwarded to the Minister of Labour desiring that all such shops in the said borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows : On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 6 p.m., and on Fridays at 9 p.m., with the following exceptions :- (1) On the working-day immediately preceding Good Friday the closing-hour shall be 10 p.m.; and (2) During the weeks in which Christmas Day and New Year's Day occur there shall be no fixed closing-hour :
