Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and
Offices Act, 1921–22, the Minister of Labour doth hereby direct
that on and after the 17th day of July, 1944, all the said shops
within the said borough shall be closed accordingly.
The notice gazetted on the 7th October, 1943,* fixing the
closing-hours of fruiterers' shops within the Borough of Hastings
shall be and is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into
operation of this notice.

Restoration to South Hillend Rabbit Board of Administration within
its District of Part I of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1928.—(Notice
No. Ag. 4112)
PURSUANT to section 91 (5) of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1928,
the Minister of Agriculture, on the request of the South
Hillend Rabbit Board, hereby restores to the said Board the
administration of Part I of the said Act within the South Hillend
Rabbit District as from the 1st day of July, 1944.

The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice
declaring Land taken for the Settlement of a Discharged Serviceman
WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of the
Land Sales Court to a transaction which relates to the land
described in the Schedule hereto and to which Part III of the
Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, applies:
And whereas the Land Sales Committee to which the application
has been referred is of opinion that the land to which the application
relates is farm land suitable or adaptable for the settlement of a
discharged serviceman:
And whereas the said committee, not being satisfied that the
Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of the
land, did on the 19th day of May, 1944, make an order determining
the basic value of the land and no appeal from the said order was
made within the time prescribed by the said Act or within any
further time allowed by the Court:
And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman
who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of
His Majesty’s Forces or in any British ship:
And whereas the said land is subject to an Agreement to Lease
dated the 1st day of July, 1941, from Henry Lawrence Glover, of
Mangatoki, Dentist, to Eric Harry Old, of Okaiawa, Farmer, for a
term of five (5) years from 1st July, 1941:
Now, therefore, I, Clarence Farringdon Skinner, Minister of
Lands, acting in pursuance of section 51 of the said Act, do hereby
declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of a discharged
serviceman, and I hereby specify the 1st day of August, 1944, as
the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His
Majesty the King.
SCHEDULE
ALL those parcels of land containing fifty (50) acres and ten (10)
perches, more or less, being Allotment Three (3) on Deposited Plan
No. 2412, being part of Section Twenty-nine (29), Block XII,
Kaupokonui Survey District, and Allotment One (1) on Deposited
Plan No. 2951, being part of Section Thirty-nine (39), Block XII,
Kaupokonui Survey District, and being the whole of the land
comprised and described in certificate of title, Vol. 71, folio 201
(Taranaki Registry), together with grant of water rights over lands
appurtenant to the said Allotment Three (3) on Deposited Plan
No. 2412, created by Transfer No. 18215 from the Mangatoki
Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, to Jacob Marx, and subject
to the aforementioned Agreement to Lease dated the 1st day of
July, 1941, from Henry Lawrence Glover to Eric Harry Old, of
Okaiawa, Farmer.

and two of the boundaries of the said part of Section Six-
teen (16) being more particularly shown on plan deposited
in the said office as No. 2370, and Lot Twenty-two (22) on
Deposited Plan No. 176A, and being part of Section Two (2),
Block II, Lindhurst Hundred, and being the whole of the
land comprised and described in certificates of title, Vol. 121,
folio 299, Vol. 111, folio 235 (Southland Registry).

election of a member of the Taranaki Land Board, do hereby

Act, 1924, and the regulations made thereunder, that the only
person nominated to fill the vacancy occurring on the said Board
was Charles James Ryan, of Ohura, and I do therefore hereby declare
that the said Charles James Ryan is duly elected a member of the
Taranaki Land Board for a term of two years as from the 16th day

Manufacture for Sale of Footwear
W. R. Taylor, 37 Denbigh Avenue, Mount Roskill, Auckland,
has applied for permission to commence the clicking and closing
of footwear uppers.
Walker and Company, 270 Karangahape Road, Auckland,
have applied for permission to machine boot-uppers for the duration
of the war only.
Manufacture for Sale of Salt
F. de Lautour, Raglan, has applied for a license to engage in
the industry of the manufacture for sale of salt.
Fish Retailing
A. C. Smith and J. Downes, 133 Glen Road, Carisbrook, Dunedin,
have applied for a fish-retailer’s license to permit them to sell wet
and cooked fish from shop premises situated at 40 City Road,
Roslyn, Dunedin.
Applications have been received from J. Fisher and Co., Ltd.,
Whangarei, for fish-retailers’ licenses to enable them to sell wet
fish from premises at Russell and Mangonui respectively.
Taking of Fish for Sale
H. L. Daveney, Moturoa, has applied for a variation of his
existing license in respect of his fishing-vessel “Kelvin,” RL. 92,
so as to permit him to land his catches at Russell, instead of freighting
them to Auckland.
Persons considering themselves to be materially affected by
the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should
make any desired representations in writing not later than the
13th July, 1944, to G. L. O'Halloran, Secretary, Bureau of Industry,
G.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.
