WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent
of the Land Sales Court to a transaction which
relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto and to
which Part III of the Servicemen's Settlement and Land
Sales Act, 1943, applies:

And whereas the Land Sales Committee to which the
application has been referred is of opinion that the land to
which the application relates is farm land suitable or adaptable for the settlement of a discharged serviceman:

And whereas the said committee, not being satisfied that
the Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the
acquisition of the land, did on the 8th day of May, 1944,
make an order determining the basic value of the land and
no appeal from the said order was made within the time
prescribed by the said Act or within any further time allowed
by the Court:

And whereas the said land is not the land of any service-
man who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand
in any of His Majesty's Forces or in any British ship:

Now, therefore, I, Clarence Farringdon Skinner, Minister
of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 51 of the said Act,
do hereby declare that the said land is taken for the set-
tlement of a discharged serviceman, and I hereby specify the
lst day of July, 1944, as the date on which the said land
shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.

SCHEDULE
ALL that parcel of land containing ninety-four (94) acres
twenty-four (24) perches, more or less, being Subdivision A
of part Allotment 1 of Section Thirteen (13), Block II,
Ngare Survey District, Patea Block, and being the whole of
the land comprised and described in certificate of title,
Vol. 98, folio 246 (Taranaki Registry).

Plants declared Noxious Weeds in the Hunterville Town District.-

THE following special order made by the Hunterville Town
Board on the 25th day of May, 1944, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928.
SPECIAL ORDER
"That, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by the Noxious
Weeds Act, 1928, the Hunterville Town Board, at a special meeting
held on Monday, 17th April, 1944, hereby resolves and declares,
by way of special order, that barberry (Berberis vulgaris), foxglove
(Digitalis purpurea), tutsan (Hypericum androsaemum), being plants mentioned in the Second Schedule of the said Act, as extended
from time to time by the Governor-General in Council, are noxious
weeds within the Hunterville Town District as from the lst June,
1944."

Position : 096° 2,900 ft. from Devonport Sandspit Beacon in
lat. 36° 50' S., long. 174° 48'.5 E. (approx.).
Details: The southern gate vessel, H.M.N.Z.S. "Whakarire," moored in the above position, has been replaced by a black buoy exhibiting an occulting red light every six seconds, eclipse three
seconds.

New Zealand Emergency Standard Specification amended
NOTICE is given of the issue of Amendment No. 2 (dated
June, 1944) to the New Zealand Emergency Standard
Specification for Bread, which is cited in the Breadmaking
Industry Control Order 1943.*
Copies of the specification as amended may be obtained
from the Secretary, New Zealand Standards Institute, Lamb-
ton Quay, Wellington C. 1, price ls. per copy, post free.
Each person who has already purchased a copy of the specification is entitled to a copy of the amendment free of charge.

    Medical Supplies Notice 1944, No. 2
    PURSUANT to the Medical Supplies Emergency Regulations
    1939, I, Michael Herbert Watt, Medical Supplies Controller,
    do hereby give notice as under:-
  1. This notice may be cited as the Medical Supplies Notice
    1944, No. 2.
  2. (1) Except as hereinafter provided no person shall supply
    penicillin to any other person for the treatment of any patient except
    upon production of a written certificate in the form set out in the
    Schedule to this notice addressed to the Pathologist at the Public
    Hospital at Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch, or at the Otago
    Medical School, signed by two registered medical practitioners,
    and containing a statement that the patient is suffering from one
    or other of the following diseases:-
    Septicaemia or pyaemia (excluding infective endocarditis),
    Meningitis,
    Cerebral abscess,
    Primary blood-borne osteomyelitis,
    Pneumonia,
    Cavernous sinus thrombosis,
    Gas gangrene, or
    Tetanus,
    and that the disease has, where possible, been verified by bacteri-
    logical examination.
    (2) Where the patient is suffering from pneumonia or meningitis
    the medical practitioners prescribing penicillin shall, unless the
    pathologist to whom the certificate is addressed otherwise approves,
    certify that sulphonamide therapy has failed.
    (3) Nothing in this clause shall prohibit the supply of penicillin
    to the Medical Superintendent of a public hospital.
  3. Penicillin shall not be used by any person for the treatment
    of any patient except for the treatment of a disease caused by one
    or more of the following organisms:-
    Neisseria gonorrhoeae,
    Neisseria meningitidis,
    Staphylococcus aureus,
    Streptococcus pyogenes,
    Bacillus anthracis,
    Actinomycosis bovis (hominis),
    Clostridium tetani,
    Clostridium welchii,
    Clostridium septique,
    Clostridium oedematiens,
    Corynebacterium diphtheriae,
    Streptococcus viridans,
    Pneumococcus,
    Anaerobic streptococcus, or
    Treponema pallidum.
  4. Any pathologist mentioned in clause 2 of this notice may,
    in his discretion, in any particular case where a written certificate
    in the form set out in the Schedule to this notice is produced to
    him signed by two registered medical practitioners, authorize the
    supply of penicillin to any person for the treatment of any disease
    not mentioned in the said clause 2 which is caused by any one or
    more of the organisms mentioned in clause 3 of the order.
  5. Nothing in this notice shall prevent the Director-General
    of Health making penicillin available for experimental purposes.

    Revoking the Medical Supplies Notice 1942; No. 10
    PURSUANT to the Medical Supplies Emergency Regulations
    1939, I, Michael Herbert Watt, Medical Supplies Controller,
    do hereby give notice as under:
  6. The Medical Supplies Notice 1942, No. 10* (relating to
    dextrose) is hereby revoked.
  7. The revocation of the said notice shall not affect the liability
    of any person for any offence in relation thereto committed before the
    date of this notice.
