Member of the Pukerau Rabbit Board appointed.--(Notice No. Ag. 4109)

PURSUANT to the powers vested in him by section 37 of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1928, the Minister of Agriculture doth hereby appoint Thomas Elder, being an Inspector appointed under Part I of the said Act, to be a member of the Pukerau Rabbit Board established under the said Act, vice Cecil George Burgess.

to be members of the Land Board of the Land District of North Auckland for a further term of two years from the 22nd day of July, 1944, and the 10th day of August, 1944, respectively; and
David Eddy
to be a member of the Land Board of the Land District of Hawke's Bay for a further term of two years from the 1st day of June, 1944; and
Frank Brazendale and James Sarsfield Lacy
to be members of the Land Board of the Land District of Wellington for a further term of two years from the 1st day of July, 1944, and the 21st day of August, 1944, respectively;
and
James Mackenzie
to be a member of the Land Board of the Land District of Southland for a further term of two years from the 9th day of June, 1944.

Appointing the Time and Place for the First Meeting of the South Canterbury Catchment Board
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act, 1941, the Minister of Works doth hereby appoint Wednesday, the 28th day of June, 1944, at 2 o'clock p.m. as the time, and the Borough Council Chambers at Timaru as the place, of the first meeting of the South Canterbury Catchment Board.
Dated at Wellington, this 14th day of June, 1944.

Appointing the Time and Place for the First Meeting of the North Canterbury Catchment Board
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act, 1941, the Minister of Works doth hereby appoint Tuesday, the 27th day of June, 1944, at 2 o'clock p.m. as the time, and the City Council Chambers at Christchurch as the place, for holding the first meeting of the North Canterbury Catchment Board.

Withdrawing Portion of a Notice of Intention to take Land for a Public Work
WHEREAS notice was given bearing date the 24th day of August, 1943, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 26th day of August, 1943, at page 1023, that it was proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take for a public work the land described in the Schedule to the said notice, and being situated in Block IX, Belmont Survey District:
And whereas notice was thereby further given that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they had any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the 1st day of September, 1943, to the Minister of Works at Wellington:
And whereas the owner of the land described in the Schedule hereto has sent to the Minister of Works an objection to the taking of such land:
And whereas due consideration has been given to the said objection:
Now, therefore, the Minister of Works hereby gives notice that it is no longer proposed to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for the purpose set out in the said notice dated the 24th day of August, 1943.

SCHEDULE
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land affected : 26·35 perches. Being Lot 9, D.P. 9993.
Situated in Block IX, Belmont Survey District (City of Lower Hutt).
In the Wellington Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 117542/21051, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured sepia.

The Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice declaring Land taken for the Settlement of Discharged Servicemen
WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of the Land Sales Court to a transaction which relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto and to which Part III of the Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, applies:
And whereas the Land Sales Committee to which the application has been referred is of opinion that the land to which the application relates is farm land suitable or adaptable for the settlement of a discharged serviceman or of two or more discharged servicemen:
And whereas the said committee, not being satisfied that the Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of the land, did on the 25th day of May, 1944, make an order determining the basic value of the land and no appeal from the said order was made within the time prescribed by the said Act or within any further time allowed by the Court:
And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty's Forces or in any British ship:
Now, therefore, I, Clarence Farringdon Skinner, Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 51 of the said Act, do hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of discharged servicemen, and I hereby specify the 1st day of July, 1944, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.

SCHEDULE
ALL those parcels of land containing together two hundred and sixty-two (262) acres three (3) roods thirteen and ninety-four hundredths (13·94) perches, more or less, being Lot 2, Deposited Plan 4037, Lots 1, 2, 6, Deposited Plan 10329, and part Lot 2, Deposited Plan 3919, being parts of Sections 4, 5, 6, and 12 of Manawatu-Kukutauaki No. 2B, and being the whole of the land comprised in certificates of title, Vol. 254, folio 5, Vol. 254, folio 282, Vol. 256, folio 238, and the balance of the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 260, folio 188 (Wellington Registry).
