NOTICE is hereby given in pursuance of the Regulations Act, 1936, of the making of regulations and orders as under:—

Timber Control Notice No. 56
NOTICE is hereby given that, in pursuance of the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939 and the Timber Emergency Regulations 1939, the Timber Controller hereby requires and directs as follows:—

This notice may be cited as the Timber Control Notice No. 56.

This notice shall come into force on the seventh day after the date of publication thereof in the Gazette.

In this notice—
“Building timber” has the same meaning as in the National Grading Rules:
“National Grading Rules” means the New Zealand Standard Specification for Classification and Grading of New Zealand Building Timber (National Grading Rules), issued by the New Zealand Standards Institute under the authority of the Minister of Scientific and Industrial Research bearing date October, 1938, and number N.Z.S.S. 169,* and includes any amendment thereof which may hereafter be issued or any specification which may hereafter be issued in substitution therefor.
- No person carrying on business as a sawmiller or as a timber-merchant, and no person who in the course of his business sells building timber, shall, whether directly or by his agent, sell, agree to sell, offer for sale, or otherwise dispose of any building timber being the product of rimu (Dacrydium cupressinum), miro (Podocarpus ferrugineus), matai (Podocarpus spicatus), or totara (Podocarpus totara) unless it is classified and graded and such classification and grading complies with the provisions of the “National Grading Rules.”

Notice to Persons affected by Applications for Licenses under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936
Taking of Fish for Sale
J. Boothman, Whangamata, via Waihi, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 14 ft. fishing-boat “Wairoa” (not yet registered), using hand-lines, catches to be landed at Whangamata.
N. A. Holloway, Tauranga, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 16 ft. fishing-boat “The Jackpot” (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Tauranga.
S. G. Webb, 23 Winchester Street, Lyttelton, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 24 ft. 14 h.p. engined launch “Wai-Tui” (not yet registered), using long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish pots, catches to be landed at Lyttelton.
A. Lines and A. Gilling, Avoca Street, Kaikoura, have applied for licenses to permit them to operate their fishing-boat (not yet registered), using set-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Kaikoura.
L. A. Dike, Seddon Street, Waihi, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his fishing-boat “Nellie” (not yet registered), using drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Waihi.
E. C. Boyle, Manawatu Heads, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 14 ft. fishing-boat (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Foxton.
E. Bradshaw, Karitane, Otago, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his fishing-launch “Miranda” (not yet registered), using trawl-nets, set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Karitane.
W. J. Hunter, 44 Cleveland Road, Nelson, has applied for a variation in the conditions of his industrial fishing license in respect of his vessel “Anita,” NN. 717, using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches landed at Nelson, so as to permit him to operate at French Pass and land his catches at that port for supply to the Nelson and Wellington markets.
Fish Retailing
E. L. Billman, 234 Ponsonby Road, Auckland, has applied for a fish-retailer’s license to permit him to sell wet and cooked fish from his premises at that address, to be known as the “Choice Fish Shop.”
D. B. Smythe, Kaeo, Bay of Islands, has applied for a fish-retailer’s license to permit him to sell wet and cooked fish from his shop premises in Moerewa Township.
Persons considering themselves materially affected by the decision of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should make any desired representations in writing not later than the 8th June, 1944, to G. L. O’Halloran, Secretary, Bureau of Industry, G.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.
