Pursuant to Regulation 13 of the said regulations, I hereby further amend the notice (given under my hand on the 3rd day of November, 1943, and published in the Gazette on the 4th day of the same month at page 1287) which fixes the scale of basic values of frozen meat acquired by the Marketing Department under the said regulations by fixing basic values for all kinds of frozen meat, except choppers (frozen headless chopper sides), derived from pigs killed during the month of May, 1944, greater by nine-sixteenths of a penny per pound than the values fixed by the said notice as heretofore amended.

Pig Prices Notice 1944

PURSUANT to the Pig Marketing Emergency Regulations 1943, the Minister of Marketing doth hereby give notice as follows:—

  1. This notice may be cited as the Pig Prices Notice 1944.
  2. The Minister of Marketing hereby fixes the scale of prices set out in the First Schedule hereto as the maximum prices that an operator may pay for pigs of the kinds therein mentioned, which are purchased or killed, as the case may be, during the periods therein mentioned.
  3. The Minister of Marketing hereby fixes the scale of basic values set out in the Second Schedule hereto as the scale according to which the basic value of frozen meat of the classes and grades therein mentioned acquired by the Marketing Department and derived from pigs killed during the periods therein mentioned shall be determined.

FIRST SCHEDULE

MAXIMUM PRICES AT WHICH PIGS MAY BE PURCHASED BY OPERATORS

I. Purchased at an Auction on a “No Grade” Basis

Kind. Price per Pound Dressed Weight (including Head), less Cost of Delivery at nearest Port Works.
If purchased during June, 1944.
Porkers .. d. 7½
Baconers, 121/175 lb.
Overweight baconers, 176/185 lb. 7
Overweight baconers, 186/200 lb. 6
Choppers ..

II. Purchased otherwise than at an Auction

(a) On a “no grade” basis, delivered at nearest port works, less customary charges usually payable by vendor :—
