Notice to Persons affected by an Application for a License under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936

Manufacture of Malt Extract

A. Murdoch and Co. (Dn.), Ltd., Dunedin, has applied for permission to install in its factory at Dunedin an additional malt-extract-manufacturing unit to increase productive capacity.

Persons considering themselves materially affected by the decision of the Bureau of Industry on this application, should make any desired representations in writing not later than the 27th January, 1944, to G. L. O’Halloran, Secretary, Bureau of Industry, G.P.O. 3025, Wellington.

Sale of Unclaimed Property

Excluding Land from the Oraka Development Scheme

PURSUANT to subsection (2) of section 4 of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1936, the Board of Native Affairs hereby revokes, so far as it affects the land described in the Schedule hereto, a certain notice dated the 29th day of January, 1931, and published in Gazette No. 9 of the 5th day of February of the same year at page 228, whereby provisions of subsection (3) of section 23 of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1929 (now Part I of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1936), were applied to, inter alia, the said land, and such land is hereby excluded from the Oraka Development Scheme.


SCHEDULE

ALL those areas of land in the South Island Native Land Court District containing 2 roods 10 perches, more or less, called or known as Oraka Native Township, Sections 4 and 12, situate in Block II, Longwood Survey District.

Including Additional Land in the Waikato Development Scheme

PURSUANT to section 4 of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1936, the Board of Native Affairs hereby declares the land described in the Schedule hereto to be subject to Part I of the said Act and to be included in the Waikato Development Scheme.

ALL that area of land in the Waikato-Maniapoto Native Land Court District, containing 38 acres 2 rood 2 perches, more or less, situate in Block III, Rangiriri Survey District, and called or known as Whangape Lot 24B.

Declared Goods (Control of Prices) Notice 1944, No. 1

PURSUANT to the powers conferred on it by clause 9 (1) of the Control of Prices Emergency Regulations 1939, Amendment No. 3,* the Price Tribunal hereby gives the following notice :—

NOTICE AS TO DECLARED GOODS

  1. This notice may be cited as the Declared Goods (Control of Prices) Notice 1944, No. 1.

  2. All goods of any of the kinds or classes specified in the Schedule hereto are hereby declared to be goods to which the provisions of clause 9 of the Control of Prices Emergency Regulations 1939, Amendment No. 3, are applicable.


SCHEDULE

CLASSES OF GOODS DECLARED TO BE SUBJECT TO CLAUSE 9 OF THE CONTROL OF PRICES EMERGENCY REGULATIONS 1939, AMENDMENT NO. 3

  1. GARMENTS of any of the following kinds or classes, namely :—

Blazers, blouses, bathing suits and shorts, women’s and girls’ costumes, corsetry, women’s and girls’ frocks, dresses and gowns, gym frocks, dressing-gowns, house coats, infants’ pilchers and petticoats of winceyette or similar material, knitted underwear, lumber jackets, nightdresses, pyjamas, underwear, overcoats, overalls, raincoats, skirts, women’s shorts and slacks, men’s and boys’ two- and three-piece suits, shorts, trousers, coats, sports coats, shirts, jerseys.

  1. Handkerchiefs.

  2. Suitings.

  3. Dress piece-goods in cotton, artificial silk, synthetic, wool, and any mixture thereof.

  4. Girls’ school hats.

  5. Aprons.

  6. Cotton and linen piece-goods of any of the following kinds or classes, namely :—

Sheetings, pillow cotton, bleached cotton, cotton and flannelette blanketing, tea towelling, drill, duck, plain white damask, calico, towelling in white, brown or striped, flannelette, winceyette, linen huck.

  1. Goods of any of the following kinds or classes, namely :—

Sheets, pillowcases, towels, tablecloths, napkins, marcella and honeycomb quilts, nursery squares, cotton and flannelette blankets.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The foregoing notice does not operate as a prohibition of the sale of any goods, but is only a preliminary declaration specifying the several classes of goods with respect to which the Tribunal has authority to prohibit sales under the powers conferred on it by sub-clause (2) of clause 9 of the regulations cited in the notice. It is not the intention of the Tribunal to exercise its powers of prohibition (except in the event of special circumstances) for at least four weeks after the publication of the above notice in the Gazette. With respect to goods of the kinds specified in the Schedule to the notice the Tribunal advises that application for its approval of proposed prices should by made to the Tribunal as soon as possible, and draws attention of all persons concerned to the fact that, at any time after the expiration of four weeks from the publication of the notice, it may proceed, in accordance with the powers conferred on it by the regulations, to prohibit the sale of any such goods otherwise than at prices fixed or approved by the Tribunal.

The prohibition of the sale of any goods referred to in the notice which appeared in the New Zealand Gazette of the 30th September, 1943, shall continue to have effect subject to the terms of such notice.
