Lands in Nelson Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease
District Lands and Survey Office,
Nelson, 10th August, 1943.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections are open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Nelson, up to 11 o'clock a.m. on Monday, 6th September, 1943.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Nelson, on Wednesday, 8th September, 1943, at 10.30 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands. Applicants are required to produce documentary evidence of their farming experience and financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicants are required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year's rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and amount of weighting for improvements.
NOTE.—These sections are offered in terms of section 153 of the Land Act, 1924, which provides that no right to any mineral under the surface shall pertain to the lessee, whose rights shall be to the surface soil only.
SCHEDULE
NELSON LAND DISTRICT.—THIRD-CLASS LANDS
Inangahua County.—Reefton Survey District.—Westland Mining District
SECTIONS 1A, 2A, 4A, 5, 6, 7, 25, 49, and 50, Block II: Area, 439 acres 0 roods 4 perches. Capital value, £155; half-yearly rent, £3 2s.
Weighted with £100 (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising hut, cow-shed, 163 chains fencing, and 166 acres felled and reverted.
Section 6 is situated on the Reefton-Inangahua Main Road (west side), the other sections being on the east side of that road, access to these latter being by railway-crossing. The property is half a mile from Rotokohu Railway-station and Post-office, four miles from Inangahua Landing School, nine miles from Reefton-Golden Coast Dairy Factory, and nine miles from Inangahua Junction Saleyards. Section 6 comprises fair quality level land, lying on the east bank of the Inangahua River; the sections on the east side of the road comprise 35 acres fair quality flats, 20 acres fair terrace, 90 acres flax swamp, 100 acres semi-pakihi, and 123 acres stony shallow terrace. Buildings and fencing are in a poor state and the whole property is in a neglected condition, but should be suitable for grazing purposes, and could be made into an economic unit.

Lands in Canterbury Land District for Lease by Public Auction
District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 10th August, 1943.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands will be offered for lease by public auction at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, 21st September, 1943, under the provisions of the Hanmer Crown Leases Act, 1928.
SCHEDULE
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—TOWN LANDS
Amuri County.—Town of Hanmer Springs
SECTION 15A, Block II: Area, 1 rood 20.1 perches. Upset yearly rent, £3 15s.
Weighted with £230 (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising three-roomed cottage and lean-to, wood-shed, and small shed in good order, planting, lawn, garden, and drainage.
Section 15B, Block II: Area, 1 rood 20-1 perches. Upset yearly rent, £3 15s.
Weighted with £10 (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising fencing and planting.
These sections are situated in the Hanmer Township, and are close to the post-office and the school. Both lots have frontage to Harrowgate Street. The sections comprise good building-sites and are in close proximity to all the sport and health facilities that Hanmer offers. This is one of the few remaining subdivisions to be offered by the Department in the heart of the township.
Term of lease: Twenty-one years with right of renewal for further terms with rentals based on fresh valuations under the provisions of the Public Bodies' Leases Act, 1908.
A condition of the lease of Section 15B is that buildings to the value of £250 must be erected on the section within twelve months of the date of the lease.
Form of lease may be perused and any further particulars required may be obtained at the office of the undersigned.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, on Thursday, 14th October, 1943, at 10.30 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.

SECTION 29, Block VI: Area, 49 acres 2 roods 24 perches. Capital value, £765; half-yearly rent, £15 6s.
Weighted with £34 7s. 6d. (payable in cash) for fencing.
This section, which comprises undulating land of fair quality, is situated about one mile from Pukerau Railway-station by good road. Approximately 42 acres are in English pasture, while about 7 acres is very broken, being old coal workings growing broom, and having no grazing value. The area in pasture is suitable for cultivation and grazing.
