Alteration of Boundaries of Maungatapu Fire District.

WHEREAS by a notice published in the Gazette on 23rd December, 1926, at page 3536 (hereinafter referred to as “the said notice”), a certain area in the Nelson Land District was declared to be a fire district under section twenty-seven of the Forests Act, 1921–22 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”): And whereas it is expedient to alter the boundaries of the Maungatapu Fire District described in the Schedule to the said notice:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said Act, and on the recommendation of the Director of Forestry and of the Land Board of the Nelson Land District, I hereby revoke the said notice, and declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a fire district to be known as the Maungatapu Fire District; and I do further specify the period from the 1st November in any year to the 30th April in the following year, inclusive, as the period during which it shall not be lawful for any person within the said district, save pursuant to the written permit of a Forest Officer, to set on fire or cause to be set on fire any timber (whether standing or not), or any undergrowth, or any debris from forest operations or land-clearing operations, or any grass or other specially inflammable material, without taking such precautions as may be prescribed by a Forest Officer.

SCHEDULE.

NELSON LAND DISTRICT.—NELSON CONSERVANCY.

Maungatapu Fire District.

All that area containing by admeasurement 65,000 acres, more or less, situated in Blocks IV, V, VIII, IX, Wangamoa Survey District, Blocks I and II, Tapumutu Survey District, Blocks IV, VII, VIII, X, and XI, Wakapuaka Survey District, Blocks II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, and IX, Maungatapu Survey District, and Blocks XI, XII, XV, XVI, Waimea Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Commencing at the south-western corner of Section 85, Square 23, Block X, Wakapuaka Survey District; thence in a northerly direction generally by the western boundary of said Section 85 to its junction with the Teal River; thence by that river to the northern boundary of Section 94, Block X, Wakapuaka Survey District; thence by the northern boundary of Sections 94 and 14, Block X aforesaid, to the south-western corner of Section 13, Block X aforesaid; thence by the western boundaries of Sections 13 and 12, by the western and northern boundaries of Section 8, and again by the western boundary of Section 12, all of Block X, Wakapuaka Survey District; thence by the western boundary of Section 2, Block XI, Wakapuaka Survey District, to the Lud River; thence by that river to its point of intersection with the southern boundary of Section 5, Block VII, Wakapuaka Survey District, and by the southern boundary of Section 5 aforesaid to the main Nelson-Blenheim Road; thence by that road to its point of intersection with the Collins River; thence easterly by the Collins River to a point opposite the south-western corner of Section 8, Block I, Tapumutu Survey District; thence northerly across the Collins River to the south-west corner of Section 8 aforesaid, and by the western boundaries of Sections 8, 6, and 7, Block I, Tapumutu Survey District, by the western boundaries of Sections 11, 4, and 3, Block VIII, Wangamoa Survey District, and by the southern boundary of Section 1, Block VIII, Wangamoa Survey District, to Tasman Bay; thence in a north-easterly, south-easterly, and generally in a south-westerly direction by the coast to the north-eastern corner of Section 2 of 18, Square 91, Block IX, Wangamoa Survey District; thence by the eastern boundary of the aforesaid Section 2 of 18 to the land district boundary between Nelson and Marlborough; thence in a south-westerly direction generally by the land district boundary to a point on that boundary at the intersection of the Pelorus River with the southern boundary of Maungatapu Survey District; thence due west by the aforesaid southern boundary of Maungatapu Survey District and by the southern boundary of Waimea Survey District, to the south-eastern boundary of Section 5, Block XVI, Waimea Survey District; thence by the southern and western boundaries of said Section 5 and the western boundary of Section 1, Block XVI, Waimea Survey District; thence south-westerly by the south-eastern boundary of Section 9, Block XV, Waimea Survey District; thence across a road to the Serpentine River; thence by the said Serpentine River to its junction with the Roding River; thence by that river to the northern side of a public road intersecting Section 4, Block XI, Waimea Survey District; thence generally in an easterly direction by that road, the northern boundary of Section 6, and by the north-eastern boundary of Section 7, Block XII, Waimea Survey District; thence in a north-easterly and south-easterly direction by the boundary of permanent State forest (Gazette, 1935, page 2) to Trig. “H” (Rocks); thence in a north-easterly and northerly direction by the boundary of permanent State forest (Gazette, 1931, page 1) to the north-eastern corner of Section 1, Block II, Maungatapu Survey District; thence generally in a north-westerly direction by the southern boundaries of Sections 2 and 3, Block II, Maungatapu Survey District (permanent State forest, Gazette, 1941, page 3130); thence generally in an easterly direction by the northern boundary of Section 3 aforesaid to the point of commencement. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 103/14, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
