Examination Anchorage altered.
Position : (a) 000° 4·5 cables from Steeple Rock Beacon in lat. 41° 19′ 28″ S., long. 174° 50′ 48″ E.
Alteration: The existing Examination Anchorage has been discontinued and re-established in the area within the following limits: From position (a) above in a 270° direction for 3·5 cables; thence in an 000° direction for 7 cables; thence in an 090° direction for 5·5 cables; thence by a right line to position (a).
The note “Examination Anchorage” is to be inserted in this area.
Chart affected: No. 1423.
Prohibited Anchorage or Fishing Area established.
Position: Baring Head Lighthouse. Lat., 41° 24′ 28″ S.; long., 174° 52′ 20″ E.
Details: Anchoring or fishing is prohibited in the area within the following limits: From the lighthouse in a 316° direction to the western entrance point of Lyall Bay; thence along the shore to Dorset Point; thence in a 105° direction to Hinds Point; thence along the coast to the lighthouse.
Warning: Any vessel (including boats) disregarding this prohibition will be fired upon and will be liable for any damage caused. A cautionary note to this effect is to be prominently placed on the charts concerned clear of navigational details and numbered (1).
The note “Anchoring or Fishing Prohibited—see Caution No. 1” is to be inserted in the area.
Charts affected: Nos. 1423, 695, and 2054.
Dangerous Area established.
Position: Hinds Point. Lat., 41° 20′ 10″ S.; long., 174° 51′ 34″ E.
Details: A dangerous area due to mines has been established within the following limits: From Hinds Point in a 285° direction to Dorset Point; thence along the shore to Halswell Point; thence in an 087° direction to Days Bay Wharf; thence along the shore to Hinds Point.
Warning: Passage through this area is highly dangerous, and traffic is strictly regulated in accordance with Admiralty Notice to Mariners No. 1 of 1942 (New Zealand Notice No. 7 of 1941 and New Zealand Nautical Almanac, 1942, page 165). All vessels (including boats) are prohibited from fishing in this area, and also from anchoring except in the Examination Anchorage. Vessels disregarding this warning will be fired upon, and will be liable for any damage caused. A cautionary note to this effect is to be prominently placed on the chart clear of navigational details and numbered (2).
The note “Dangerous Area—see Caution No. 2” is to be inserted in this area.

PURSUANT to Regulation 6 of the Medical Supplies Emergency Regulations 1939, I, Michael Herbert Watt, Medical Supplies Controller, do hereby give notice as under:
- This notice may be cited as the Medical Supplies Notice 1942, No. 8, and shall come into force on the day following the date of publication hereof in the Gazette.
- In this notice “quinine” means quinine alkaloid and its derivative quinine salts extracted from cinchona bark (also known as Calisaya, Peruvian bark, or Jesuit’s bark), and from its hybrids.
