NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—THAMES.
Changes in Navigational Aids.
(1) Lights discontinued.
Position: Tidal Basin. Lat., 37° 08′ S.; long., 175° 31′ E. (approx.).
Details: The two fixed red lights on Burke Street Wharf, the fixed green light on the eastern wall, and the flashing white light on south wall have been discontinued.
(2) Light established.
Position: 260° 3·6 cables from White Beacon in lat. 37° 08′·9 S.; long., 175° 32′·2 E. (approx.).
Details: A fixed red light has been established.
(3) Beacon established.
Position: 258° 5·4 cables from White Beacon in (2).
Details: A black beacon has been established.
(4) Buoy discontinued.
Position: Lat., 37° 08′ S.; long., 175° 28′·5 E. (approx.).
Details: The Fairway buoy has been permanently withdrawn.
(5) Alteration in Light.
Position: Thames (Waihou) Light. 248° 1·2 miles from Beacon in (2).
Details: The light has been altered from flashing every 15 sec. to flashing every 5 sec.

The Electrical Appliances Control Notice 1942, Amendment No. 1.
PURSUANT to the Factory Emergency Regulations 1939, I, George Augustus Pascoe, Factory Controller, hereby direct and give notice as follows:—
- This Notice may be cited as the Electrical Appliances Control Notice 1942, Amendment No. 1.
- This Notice shall come into force on the day next following the date of publication hereof in the Gazette.
- This Notice shall be read together with and form part of the Electrical Appliances Control Notice 1942 * (hereinafter called “the principal Notice”).
- The Schedule to the principal Notice is hereby amended by adding the following thereto:—
“(29) ‘Clip on,’ table, pedestal, and standard electric lamps.
“(30) Electric clothes wringers.
“(31) Electric refrigerators.
“(32) Electric vacuum cleaners.”

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

NOTICE is hereby given that the leases of the undermentioned lands having been declared forfeit by resolution of the Southland Land Board, the said lands have thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.

Land in North Auckland Land District for Selection on Optional Tenures.
North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office,

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on optional tenures under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 17th August, 1942.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Wednesday, 19th August, 1942, at 10 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands. Applicants are required to produce documentary evidence of their farming experience and financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, lease and mortgage fees, and deposit in reduction of weighting for improvements.
SCHEDULE.
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Whangarei County.—Mangakahia Survey District.—Wharekohe Block.
SECTION 24, Block, XVI: Area, 119 acres 2 roods 4 perches. Capital value, £100. Deposit on deferred payments, £10: Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments (term: twenty years), £3 14s. 10d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £2 10s.
Weighted with £865 for improvements, comprising shack, cow-shed, piggeries (materials only), drains, grassing, fencing, and water-supply. This sum is payable in cash, or, after payment of a deposit of £65, the balance may be repaid over a period of twenty years by half-yearly instalments of principal and interest amounting to £31 17s. 4d.
This property is part of the Wharekohe Block situated on the Kaikohe-Maungatapere Highway, about thirteen miles from Whangarei with metalled road access. Bounded by the Wairua River and about four miles from Titoki School and Post-office. About two-thirds of the area is in grass and balance in original state; property is level to undulating, fairly well watered. Suitable for dairying.
Subject to section 8 of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1939, and the regulations thereunder, as to the water-supply installed hereon. The selector is required to pay for the water such amount as the Minister of Lands may levy.
