Date of Election by Fire-insurance Companies to fill Extraordinary Vacancies on the Ohakune and Taihape Fire Boards.

PURSUANT to the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, and the rules made thereunder, the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act, doth hereby appoint Wednesday, the 13th day of January, 1943, to be the date for holding election of one member of each of the Ohakune and Taihape Fire Boards by the fire-insurance companies concerned, such election being held to fill the extraordinary vacancies caused by the resignation of Mr. H. S. Bowden from each of the said Boards.

The Laundry Workers (Auckland Hospital Board) Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1942.


IN pursuance of the Labour Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Labour doth hereby order as follows :—

  1. This Order may be cited as the Laundry Workers (Auckland Hospital Board) Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1942.

  2. This Order applies to the Auckland Hospital Board and to the workers who are employed by that Board at its laundry in Howe Street, Auckland, and whose employment is subject to the provisions of the Northern Industrial District Laundry Workers, Dyers, and Dry-cleaners’ award dated the 19th day of September, 1941, and recorded in 41 Book of Awards 1290.

  3. The provisions of the Factories Act, 1921–22, and its amendments, and of the said award, are hereby suspended in so far as they operate to prevent or restrict the employment of the workers hereinbefore mentioned on shift work between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., but such suspension shall be subject to the terms and conditions hereinafter set forth.

  4. Two shifts shall be worked, the early shift from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the late shift from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.

  5. When shifts are being worked each worker shall receive in addition to the wages prescribed by the award the sum of 2s. per shift for each shift worked.

  6. Workers shall be entitled to the following concessions enjoyed by other hospital employees—namely, two weeks’ annual leave on pay, two weeks’ sick-leave on pay (cumulative), free medical and surgical attention, and a supply of tea, milk, and sugar for morning tea.

  7. This Order shall be deemed to have come into effect on the 1st day of December, 1942, and shall continue in force until the 30th day of November, 1944.

The Overtime and Holidays Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1941. Variation No. 19.


IN pursuance of the Labour Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Labour doth hereby order as follows :—

  1. This Order may be cited as the Overtime and Holidays Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1941, Variation No. 19.

  2. This Order shall be read together with and deemed part of the Overtime and Holidays Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1941 (hereinafter referred to as “ the principal Order ”).

  3. The principal Order is varied as follows, namely :—

The provisions of the principal Order shall not apply to workers coming within the scope of the New Zealand Carpenters and Joiners’ award dated the 23rd day of April, 1942, and recorded in 42 Book of Awards 332, or the Christchurch Tramway Board Workshops Employees’ industrial agreement dated the 19th day of November, 1941, and recorded in 41 Book of Awards 1655.

  1. This Order shall come into effect on the day of the date hereof.

NOTICE is hereby given that pursuant to the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939, and the Building Emergency Regulations 1939, I hereby require and direct as follows :—

  1. This notice may be cited as the Building Construction Control Notice No. 14.

  2. This notice shall come into force on the day next following the date of publication thereof in the Gazette.

  3. Every person who on the coming into force of this notice is the owner of any of the building-materials described in the Schedule hereto shall, not later than the 15th day of January, 1943, furnish in writing to the Building Controller, P.O. Box 3005, Wellington, the following particulars in relation thereto :—

(a) Description and grades :

(b) Quantities of each description and grade :

(c) If any of the materials are held against the requirements of any contracts, the name of each contract and the quantity of each description and grade held against each such contract :

(d) The approximate total quantity of each description and grade required to complete each such contract :

(e) The anticipated date of the completion of each such contract.

  1. Within seven days of the importation of any of the building-materials described in the Schedule hereto, the importer thereof shall furnish in writing to the Building Controller particulars of such importation stating—

(a) Description and grades ; and

(b) Quantities of each description and grade.


SCHEDULE.

  1. COPPER tube of any type or size capable of being used or dealt with in or for the purposes of any constructional work.

  2. Copper sheets, shapes, and circles capable of being used or dealt with in or for the purposes of any constructional work.

  2. For the purposes of this notice the term “ bituminous products ” includes bitumen of all kinds and grades and emulsions, road oils, and cut-backs, but does not include tar.
