Land in Marlborough Land District for Selection on Renewable
Lease.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Blenheim, 1st December, 1942.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections are
open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act,
1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and
Survey Office, Blenheim, up to 11 o'clock a.m. on Tuesday, 12th
January, 1943.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at the
District Lands and Survey Office, Blenheim, on Thursday, 14th
January, 1943, at 10 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to
attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any
Commissioner of Crown Lands.

The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the
examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required
to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the
first half-year's rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and amount of
weighting for improvements.

NOTE.-This section is offered in terms of section 153 of the
Land Act, 1924, which provides that no right to any mineral under
the surface shall pertain to the lessee, whose rights shall be to the
surface soil only.

SCHEDULE.
MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT.-THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Cloudy Bay and Linkwater Survey Districts.-Marlborough Mining
District.
(Exempt from payment of rent for two years.)
SECTION 2, Block II, and Section 3, Block XIV : Area, 680 acres.
Capital value, £425 ; half-yearly rent, £8 10s.
Weighted with £200 for improvements, comprising 138 chains
of boundary-road fencing, internal fencing, and clearing. This sum
is payable in cash or on such terms as may be arranged prior to the
ballot between the applicant and the State Advances Corporation.
After payment of the broken-period rent, first half-year's rent,
lease fee, and weighting for improvements, no further rent will be
payable for a term of two years.

This property is situated approximately three miles from Para,
on a by-road, and fifteen miles from Blenheim. All hilly country,
rising fairly sharply to an altitude of 1,200 ft., approximately two-thirds being shady faces. This country was originally covered in
birch bush, the soil being shallow clay loam resting on hard clay
subsoil; well watered by streams.

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICE.

Milling-timber for Sale by Public Tender.
State Forest Service,
Hokitika, 30th November, 1942.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the purchase of
the undermentioned milling-timber will close at the office of
the State Forest Service, Hokitika, at 4 p.m. on Friday, 11th
December, 1942.

SCHEDULE.
WESTLAND CONSERVANCY.-WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.
ALL the milling-timber on that piece of land containing 127 acres,
situated in Block XIII, Arnold Survey District, Provisional State
Forest No. 32, approximately six miles from Greymouth.
The total estimated quantity of timber in cubic feet is 257,000,
or in board feet 1,576,000, made up as follows :-

Terms of Payment.

A marked cheque for a deposit of one-fifth of the purchase-money, together with £1 ls. license fee, must accompany the tender,
and the balance be paid in twelve equal monthly instalments, the
first of which shall be made on the 20th of the month following the
date of sale.

Special Condition.
The successful tenderer shall be liable for payment for any
damage caused by fire on the above-mentioned area during the term
of the license.

Terms and Conditions.

  1. All instalment-payments shall be secured by "on demand"
    promissory notes made and endorsed to the satisfaction of the
    Commissioner of State Forests, and interest at the rate of 1 per cent.
    per annum in excess of current bank overdraft rates will be charged
    on all notes overdue from the date of maturity to the date of payment.
  2. The right to cut and remove the timber will be sold in
    accordance with the provisions of the Forests Act, 1921-22, the
    the regulations in force thereunder, and these conditions.
  3. The aforementioned quality, quantity, and kind as to the
    said timber shall be taken as sufficiently accurate for the purposes
    of this sale, and no contract for the purchase shall be voidable, nor
    shall the successful purchaser be entitled to any abatement in price
    by reason of the said timber being of less quantity, quality, or kind
    as stated herein or in any advertisement having reference to the said
    timber.
  4. A return giving the number of logs cut of each species and
    their contents must be made quarterly by the licensee on the last
    days of March, June, September, and December, respectively, in
    each year. A return must also be made on the same dates showing
    the output of sawn timber of each species. These returns may be
    ascertained and verified by inspection of the books of the mill, or by
    such other means as the Conservator may require, and for this
    purpose the accounts and books shall be open to the inspection of
    the Conservator, a Forest Ranger, or other duly authorized officer.
  5. The attention of all tenderers is drawn to the fact that the
    local controlling body may require the successful tenderer to pay
    any claims or charges which may be made by that body for the
    maintenance of the road over which the timber may be transported,
    and before a sawmill license is issued a letter indicating that satisfactory arrangements have been made in this connection must be
    produced to the undersigned.
  6. Tenderers are expected to visit the locality and to satisfy
    themselves in every particular on all matters relative to the sale.
  7. Each tenderer must state the total price that he is prepared
    to pay for the timber. The highest or any tender will not necessarily
    be accepted, and the timber described is submitted for sale subject
    to the final acceptance of the tender by the Commissioner of State
    Forests.
  8. The right is reserved to the Commissioner of State Forests
    to withdraw from sale any or all of the said timber either before or
    after the closing date for receipt of tenders.
  9. If no tender is accepted for the timber herein mentioned it
    will remain open for application for three months from the closing
    date of tenders.
  10. Tenders should be on the special form obtainable from any
    office of the State Forest Service, and should be enclosed in envelopes
    addressed "Conservator of Forests, Hokitika," and endorsed
    "Tender for Timber."

The conditions, which will be inserted in the license to be
issued to the purchaser, and further particulars may be obtained on
application to the undersigned or to the Director of Forestry,
Wellington.

NOTICE is hereby given that ALEXANDER JAMES THOMPSON
WALKER, of Waipawa, Farmer, was this day adjudged
bankrupt; and I hereby summon a meeting of creditors to be holden
at the Courthouse, Hastings, on Wednesday, the 2nd day of
December, 1942, at 2 o'clock p.m.

(Auckland Registry), for the northern portion of Section 58
of the Parish of Waitakerei, in favour of GEORGE ZIVKUSICH,
of Piha, Farmer and Bush Contractor, having been lodged with me
together with an application for a new certificate of title in lieu
thereof, and evidence of the loss of deferred payment license, Vol. 627,
folio 88 (Auckland Registry), for Section 29, Block XI, Ruakaka
Survey District, in favour of ANTE ANTUNOVICH, of Ruakaka,
Gum-digger (now deceased), having been lodged with me together
with an application for a provisional license in lieu thereof, notice
is hereby given of my intention to issue such new certificate of title
and provisional license after fourteen days from 3rd December, 1942.
