PURSUANT to the Rationing Emergency Regulations 1942, I, James Ewing Thomas, Rationing Controller, hereby give notice as follows :—
- This notice may be cited as the Clothing Rationing Coupon Notice 1942, No. 5.
- The Clothing Rationing Coupon Notice 1942* is hereby amended, by inserting in the schedule of coupon-free goods, the following :—
Handkerchiefs.
Second-hand garments.
- The Clothing Rationing Coupon Notice 1942 is hereby consequentially amended by omitting from the Schedule :—
(a) The following items relating to men and boys :—
Handkerchiefs . . . . ¼ coupon.
(b) The following item relating to women and girls :—
Handkerchief . . . . ¼ coupon.

The Handkerchief Manufacture Control Notice 1942.
PURSUANT to the Factory Emergency Regulations 1939,* I, George Augustus Pascoe, Factory Controller, hereby direct and give notice as follows :—
- This notice may be cited as the Handkerchief Manufacture Control Notice 1942.
- This notice shall come into force on the day next following the date of the publication thereof in the Gazette.
- In this notice—
“ The said specification ” means the New Zealand Emergency Standard Specification entitled “ Simplified Practice for the Manufacture of Handkerchiefs ” issued by the New Zealand Standards Institute under the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, bearing date December, 1942, and numbered N.Z.S.S. E. 97 (SP)†, and includes any amendment thereof that may hereafter be issued or any specification that may hereafter be issued in substitution thereof.
- No owner or occupier of a factory within the meaning of the Factory Emergency Regulations 1939 shall manufacture any handkerchiefs in contravention of the provisions of the said specification.

The Non-ferrous Metals Control Notice 1942, Amendment No. 2.
PURSUANT to the Factory Emergency Regulations 1939, I, George Augustus Pascoe, Factory Controller, hereby direct and give notice as follows :—
- This notice may be cited as the Non-ferrous Metals Control Notice 1942, Amendment No. 2, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Non-ferrous Metals Control Notice 1942* (hereinafter called “ the principal notice ”).
- This notice shall come into force on the day next following the date of publication hereof in the Gazette.
- The Schedule to the principal notice is hereby amended by omitting item 35 and substituting the following item :—
“ 35. Solder with greater tin content than 33 per cent.”
- The Schedule to the principal notice, as amended by the Non-ferrous Metals Control Notice 1942, Amendment No. 1, is hereby further amended by adding the following thereto :—
“ 59. Brush ferrules.
“ 60. Counter strips and grilles.
“ 61. Curtain-rails.
“ 62. Display fittings.
“ 63. Picture wire.
“ 64. Soap dispensers.
“ 65. Towel-rails.”

Timber Control Notice No. 52.
NOTICE is hereby given that, in pursuance of the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939, and the Timber Emergency Regulations 1939, the Timber Controller hereby requires and directs as follows :—
- This notice may be cited as the Timber Control Notice No. 52.
- This notice shall come into force on the day following publication thereof in the Gazette.
- Except with the precedent consent of the Timber Controller no proprietor, within the meaning of the Timber Emergency Regulations 1939, shall sell, offer to sell, dispose of, or part with the possession of any of the timber materials specified in the Schedule hereto or any parts thereof which are in use or capable of being used for any purpose directly connected with the production or distribution of timber or manufactured timber products.
- Except with the precedent consent of the Timber Controller no person shall purchase, agree to purchase, offer to purchase, or otherwise acquire from any such proprietor any of the timber materials specified in the Schedule hereto or any parts thereof which are in use or capable of being used for any such purpose as aforesaid.
SCHEDULE.
THE timber materials referred to in this notice are :—
Tractors. Boilers.
Motor-trucks. Railway-rails.
Log-haulers. Wire ropes.
