Declaring a Place to be a Prohibited Place under the Defence
Emergency Regulations 1941.
PURSUANT to the Defence Emergency Regulations 1941, the
Minister of Defence doth hereby declare the place specified
in the Schedule hereto to be a prohibited place for the purposes of
the Defence Emergency Regulations 1941.

SCHEDULE.
AREA AT MOUNT PLEASANT.
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, situated in the
Boroughs of Lyttelton and Sumner and the County of Heathcote,
in Block XVI, Christchurch Survey District, Block II, Sumner
Survey District, Block IV, Halswell Survey District, and Block I,
Pigeon Bay Survey District, and being all those lands, including
road-lines, as contained within the following boundaries: Com-
mencing at a point on the south side of the Summit Road, being
the intersection therewith of the north-eastern side of the Bridle
Path Road to Lyttelton; thence north-easterly by a right line to
a point being the intersection of the south-east side of Tauhinu Avenue
with the north-east side of Mount Pleasant Road; thence easterly
generally along the said north-east side of Mount Pleasant Road to
a point thereon being the south-east corner of Lot 13, Deposit Plan
5620; thence again easterly by a right line to a point on the south
side of Clifton Terrace, being the intersection therewith of the north-
west boundary of Lot 7, Deposit Plan 2827; thence north-easterly
by a right line to a point on the south side of Richmond Hill Road,
being the intersection therewith of the west boundary of Lot 52,
Deposit Plan 3057; thence again north-easterly along the south-
east side of the said Richmond Hill Road to a point being the east
corner of Lot 1, Deposit Plan 4148; thence south-easterly by a right
line across the said Richmond Hill Road and to a point being the
northernmost corner of Reserve 69; thence southerly generally
along the west boundary of Reserve 69 and the western side of
Wakefield Avenue to Rural Section 204; thence north-westerly,
south-westerly, and south-easterly along the north-east, north-west,
and south-west boundaries of that section to the Lyttelton-Sumner
Road; thence south-westerly generally along the north-western side
of that road to the south-western corner of Lot 40, Deposit
Plan 9983; thence northerly generally along the western boundary
of the said Lot 40, Deposit Plan 9983, and the eastern boundaries
of Lots, 1, 2, 3, and 4, Deposit Plan 11432, and the western boundary
of Lot 8, Deposit Plan 9148, to the intersection of the south-east
side of Somes Road with the south side of an unnamed road; thence
north-westerly along the south-west side of the unnamed road
and its continuation along the south-west boundary of Rural Section
193 to its intersection with the eastern side of Canterbury Street;
thence again northerly along the eastern side of Canterbury Street a
distance of six chains and north-westerly by a right line parallel to
the south-west boundary of Rural Section 193 aforesaid to the south-
east side of Jackson Road; thence south-westerly along the south-
east side of Jackson Road to a point in line with the north-east side
of Somes Road; thence north-westerly generally across Jackson
Road and along the north-east side of Somes Road to the third road
angle thereof, and thence north-westerly by a right line to the
intersection of the north-eastern side of the Bridle Path Road with
the south side of the Summit Road, being the point of commencement.
As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked
Army P.P. 62, 205/3/1, deposited at Army Headquarters, Wellington,
and thereon bordered red.

Kaitaia Drainage Area.—Notice of Intention to make and levy General
Rates.

Department of Lands and Survey,
Wellington, 25th November, 1942.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended, pursuant to the
Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, to make and
levy, on the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town
District Subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area constituted under
the said Act, the general rate described in the First Schedule hereto,
and on the unimproved value of all land in the subdivision of the
Kaitaia Drainage Area outside the Kaitaia Town District the general
rates described in the Second Schedule, such respective rates being
for the purpose of meeting maintenance-costs for the period from the
1st April, 1942, to the 31st March, 1943.
The amount of the general rates, together with the annually
recurring special rates already made and levied, will be payable in
one sum on the 21st December, 1942.
The valuation-roll of the area will be available for inspection at
the office of the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage Engineer's Office,
Room 45, First Floor, Government Buildings, Customs Street West,
Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at the office of the
Chief Drainage Engineer, Kaitaia, at all times at which those offices
are open for the transaction of public business.

FIRST SCHEDULE.
TOWN SUBDIVISION.
General Rate.
On the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town
District, sixty-six one-hundredths of a penny (0·66d.) in the pound.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
RURAL SUBDIVISION.
General Rate.
Class A.—On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class A
by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of
the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928, eighteen pence
and fifty-three one-hundredths of a penny (18·53d.) in the pound.
Class B.—On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class B,
sixpence and forty-nine one-hundredths of a penny (6·49d.) in
the pound.
Class C.—On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class C,
twopence and seventy-eight one-hundredths of a penny (2·78d.)
in the pound.

Industrial Man-power Emergency Regulations 1942.—Declaration of
Essential Industry (No. 124).
IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by Regulation 11
of the Industrial Man-power Emergency Regulations 1942, the
Minister of Industrial Man-power doth hereby declare all work that
comes within any of the classes of work specified in the New Zealand
(except Marlborough and Westland) Saddlers, Harness-makers,
Collar-makers, and Bag-makers' award to be an essential industry
for the purposes of those regulations.
