Classification of Assistant Teachers in Technical Schools and of Manual-training Teachers.

THE following list of assistant teachers employed full time in technical schools, combined schools, recognized technical classes and recognized manual-training classes, is issued under the authority of the Minister of Education in accordance with the Manual and Technical Instruction Regulations and the Regulations for Combined Secondary and Technical Schools, made by Orders in Council dated the 20th November, 1925, and 25th September, 1931.

Under the heading “Division” is shown the division and class in which the teacher is classified.

The class of salary corresponding with the class and division in which the teacher is placed is given in the Schedule to the aforementioned regulations.

Attention is drawn to the regulations relating to appeals of teachers against their classification and grading, under which any teacher who considers he has good grounds for objection to his classification may lodge an appeal to reach the Director of Education not later than forty clear days after the publication of this list in the New Zealand Gazette—i.e., such appeals must reach the Director not later than 12th January, 1943, and must contain an explicit statement of the grounds on which the appeal is based.

NOTE.—In the last column of the classification list T.S. stands for “Technical School,” E.B. for “Education Board,” S. of A. for “School of Art,” Int. for “Intermediate School (or Department),” and C.S. for “Combined School.”

Teachers marked with an asterisk are now or have been on military leave with overseas forces.

Those marked † are on leave in New Zealand on military duties or on work connected with the war.

Those marked § hold war appointments in another branch of the teaching service.

Parentheses indicate relieving positions, which are, almost without exception, war vacancies.

Teachers who desire their grading marks may have them on application to the Department.
